Bought two of them. One with the serrations and one without. Very happy with them and only have two observations. My scraper looked like it not finished. The tip was crooked and any pressure would cause it to break off. It eventually did and with a little filing, it was good to go. Secondly the pry bar was not bent on both of my EDC-1. Stays in place quite well. The serrated version is my EDC.
and with that info I will no longer be considering buying this lol. funny right after reading this comment they mention its chinese made in the video. Missed that the first time I saw this.
I have yet to find a multi-tool that can persuade me to carry it over my weatherman WAVE. I like the design but made in China is a deal breaker for me since I have an American made weatherman already. My only complaint with my weatherman is that the blades liner lock isnt as protected as I would like which is why I like the Emerson blade. But its Chinese!!!! Im on a mission to buy American.
If they sold you a weatherman it probably is a Chinese counterfeit, I thought they couldn’t pronounce the r but now it looks like they have the same problem with the l. LOL
$184!!! No scissors, no saw\file, no pliers etc etc etc... But you get the Emerson wave, name and a scull logo. No thanks that's why I stick with leatherman.
Gen Eric Agree big time. Another thing to note, people wonder why our economy is bad... it ain't the housing market, it ain't this, or that... IT IS, because we no longer produce anything. The very basis of economy at it's most simple form is producing and selling "wigits" - we no longer do this.
I was sold until he mentioned the price! I don't care that it's made in china but if it is made in china it should be way cheaper! My girlfriend bought me a Leatherman Wingman that I've been carrying for months now and I love it. It's super useful, always by my side, has many more tools than this, and it only costs $40 tops! I'd be willing to buy this if it were either made in the US with nicer steel (which would justify the price), or way cheaper since it's made in china out of okay materials.
The scraper tool can be used for ar type guns and so on most military multi tool comes with this feature would I recommend using it yes if not a cheaply made product
I had one and I loved it, I have never understood why Emerson selected the leaf-shaped blade when the straight and simple blade of the A100 (or A100 mini) would have been a bit more practical on EDC tasks, anyway, mine has been stolen.. would love to buy a NOS if anybody knows where to find it!
Great video, I understood what you were saying about the screw driver features. The first locking part provides more torque. I could tell it was on the tip of your tongue. I'm definitely a subscriber after this video. Keep it up!
It's not about china making bad products. It's about our companies sending all our jobs there. If they want cheap labor then set the price as such. I'm with him. I'll keep my money.
Looks nice... But for that much, you could buy a Leatherman Wave AND a Gerber Centerdrive. Both of which have more functionality, great pliers (which are a must for me) and both US made.
Thanks for the review. As ever, it depends on what you want. If you primarily seek a knife platform with useful extras then its quite a good design. The knife is a great shape with no play. Pity it's D2 (hard certainly but an absolute bastard to sharpen). Ideally, as said knife platform, I would also like those 'hot spots' sorted out. It's certainly an innovative produce However, if you need a plier platform which also happens to have a knife and other assorted goodies then this is clearly not for you. That's why the Man makes so many flavours. As for price, yes, undeniably steep. Even if US made it would be steep but for a Chinese product it's rather insulting to the intelligence (given what must be a huge margin on the part of the manufacturer) to pay that much. Sad that they, Emerson, have to exploit an otherwise good reputation.
Clay Campbell The hole behind the awl is for chain stitching material. Put cord strands or dental floss, for example, thru the hole. push thru material & feed length of stitched area thru hole & material. Pull awl back out, leaving length of cord on side pulled thru. This becomes standing end. For 1st stitch, push awl 1 stitch length away from previous hole. While awl & thread are in hole, pull a loop from working end. Insert standing end thru loop. Pull awl back out of 2nd hole & pull working & standing end tight. This completes 1st chain stitch.
The mall blade with the little hole in it is used as a sewing needle... its notmally used to fix tents or sleeping bags... even to make leather os thick clothes repairing on the field.
Gerber is in Portland Oregon. I've seen them , pulling bear grylls gear off the assembly line . It's all American made . I live close buy . Leatherman is made in Portland also.
Robert West Apple's shit is designed in California but it's still made in China. It doesn't matter where the company is headquartered if their shit is made in China.
And what if you pull it out of your pocket but dont want to use the knife you want to use the screw driver . You then have to close the knife and the use the driver . Just would seem annoying to me
diluted rep Or you could just pull it up. Waves have to be pulled against the back corner of the pocket to open. It's actually really easy to pull a knife out without it opening.
Very cool looking tool. Only two things I don't like about it, first is the bulkiness. I don't mind the weight, but when it's so bulky that I feel it in my pocket, I won't get it. The other thing I don't like about it is that commander blade. I really hate the commander blade design. I wish it was a CQC-8, 9, 10, 12 or Gentleman Jim blade.
The only use for the awl is cleaning the carbon off your bolt of you m4/m16/ ar15 rifle. I think that the awl should just be labeled a scraper. I also think that for the money there are better options. Cool though. Emerson swiss army knife
Agree with the others. There's really nothing there to justify the extremely high price, when a Victorinox SAK can do it all for 1/5 the price. (and Swiss made too!) This thing is costing them less than $5 to manufacture. The name is only worth SO much.
Great design, had me hooked until you mentioned it was made in China. Another company selling its soul and its design ideas at the cost of people here. I'd pay that price for a US made product.
+Stuart Mcconney You have to be kidding. Most owners prototype here and perfect that design with US workers. They then sell the design to be mass produced overseas at an enormous profit. What did you expect ? Thought all Americans love capitalism. LOL
I think this would be cool if the waved knife was in the center instead of on the outside like other multi-tools. I have never seen any that didn't have the tool on the outer edges.
I like it, but I'm not sold on it. I would like it better if it had a Can Opener and a Shackle ( aka Bail or Clevis ) on it. It is a great looking knife though.
I dont know what kind of camping yall do, but a bottle opener usually isnt needed. Plus why cant you use the bottle opener as soon as you pick up the tool? (leatherman skeletool, and kershaw shuffle) I am just saying if I have had a few beers (and what else do you really need a bottle opener for) I would loose that piece of metal instantly
*I thought Emerson would never put his name on anything but US made products.* *But you have this tool and all the different Kershaw knives made in China, they do have the Emerson name and logo on them.*
I think it is actually made in Taiwan, with the blade made, and assembly completed, in the USA. The D2 blade is the only selling point for me. If someone started making d2 replacement blades for a leatherman juice, they would make a killing...
It's a great tool, the price is high (Emerson's name) but you get the most important tools-knife screwdrivers, wrench, awl (yes, an awl is important-if your multi-tool doesn't have one-get one that does! You can't punch a hole with your pecker, well not a small hole at least!) However the new version scrapped the removable wrench, that's bad, your losing some important tools. The blade steel is now 440C, bad choice, it chips and hard to sharpen. AUS-8 cheaper and better option. It WAS a great little tool, too bad they wrecked it. Great review, wish they still made this one, I'd buy one. It wouldn't replace my SOG PowerPliers, but it would come closer than most.
$184!?!? Dude you can get a leatherman wave, which has a ton more tools. And also get the extra bit kit and still not pay that much!!
😨😰😓🤢🤮 Leatherman For Life! 💯🙌🏽
You can get the leatherman wave set for $10 less
That is WAY over priced. $45 maybe.
For 184 I could buy a leatherman wave a good Swiss Army knife, and a good blow up doll and call it a day with a little money left over
Oh come on. .....you get the emerson wave on there.
Beer money lol
lol
Don't pop your doll with your leatherman. Lmao get the point.
Bought two of them. One with the serrations and one without. Very happy with them and only have two observations. My scraper looked like it not finished. The removable pry bar is cool, but $180? Hilarious. Leatherman's got nothing to worry about here.
I use the scraper to scrape all the thc resin out of my pipe. Awesome tool!
+Deutschland402 m.f. lmao lol
$190 Chinese made Multitool with less functionality than a Leatherman Wingman? Yeah, no.
Exactly.
Didn't know this was Chinese made.
Thanks a million for the heads up.
Emerson is crap imo
and with that info I will no longer be considering buying this lol.
funny right after reading this comment they mention its chinese made in the video. Missed that the first time I saw this.
Holy f*ck! What a rip-off! :o
I have yet to find a multi-tool that can persuade me to carry it over my weatherman WAVE. If they sold you a weatherman it probably is a Chinese counterfeit, I thought they couldn’t pronounce the r but now it looks like they have the same problem with the l. LOL
Man thats one of the most solid EDC mutitools Ive seen. I have a tanto serrated CQC-7 by Emerson, but this seems as equally as nice
A tool ahead of its time. They should do another run!
$184!!! No scissors, no saw\file, no pliers etc etc etc... But you get the Emerson wave, name and a scull logo. No thanks that's why I stick with leatherman.
Yeah the wave is useless on this tool
i cant afforrd leatherman just looking whats out there this is tooooo expensive
lol
made in China part isnt technically bad. Its the $185 and made in China part that makes this garbage
Have to agree there. You're paying a huge price for the name. Too bad I was really excited for this.
No, the "made in China part" IS "technically bad." The land of KNOCKOFFS.
Gen Eric Agree big time.
Another thing to note, people wonder why our economy is bad... it ain't the housing market, it ain't this, or that... IT IS, because we no longer produce anything. The very basis of economy at it's most simple form is producing and selling "wigits" - we no longer do this.
And sweatshops and or child labor for little pay.
Atimatik Army amen
My Black-Oxide Surge *SHITS* on this, $136 shipped. All you're buying from Emerson with that $180 is the logo on the blade.
This knife is soooo ready for action, that your possible assailants would drop dead of laughter!!!
I was sold until he mentioned the price!
I don't care that it's made in china but if it is made in china it should be way cheaper! My girlfriend bought me a Leatherman Wingman that I've been carrying for months now and I love it. Country origin doesn't make something good or bad, I dont like this knife, but there are many good things from companies like kizer.
That is so cool. Very refreshing take on a multitool.
I just got a Leatherman Wave for 70 US, so I'm good on EDC.
The scraper tool can be used for ar type guns and so on most military multi tool comes with this feature would I recommend using it yes if not a cheaply made product
I have to agree. I was down for picking up tool till I heard the price tag
Why was this multitool discontinued? Is it ever gonna be manufactured again?
The cool thing is the camera you are using to record this video.
not this one specific but with the awl as a scraper, I use the one on my leatherman surge as a firesteel scraper. helps throw a great spark.
the scrapping tool can be used for wood working of scrapping a tobacco pipe or residue build up
I had one and I loved it, I have never understood why Emerson selected the leaf-shaped blade when the straight and simple blade of the A100 (or A100 mini) would have been a bit more practical on EDC tasks, anyway, mine has been stolen.. would love to buy a NOS if anybody knows where to find it!
Great video, I understood what you were saying about the screw driver features. The first locking part provides more torque. I could tell it was on the tip of your tongue. I'm definitely a subscriber after this video. Keep it up!
Seems very cool. Also seems to be discontinued. The EDC 2 doesn't seem to have as many tools.
given the price and the country of origin...I think I'll keep my money.
Nothing wrong with China, it's the knife that's bad, thers plenty of great stuff made in china.
@@shaggyat5power112 homeboy's probably american, no point arguing. they get the nationalist indoctrination early over there
It's not about china making bad products. It's about our companies sending all our jobs there. If they want cheap labor then set the price as such. I'm with him. I'll keep my money.
Plus, this thing isn’t nearly as versatile as a Leatherman or any Gerber tool. What’s the point?
it was a hole punch idk if I use it for scraping
Looks nice... But for that much, you could buy a Leatherman Wave AND a Gerber Centerdrive. Both of which have more functionality, great pliers (which are a must for me) and both US made.
Whats the largest bladed multitool? .in spain we can cary a multitool as can explain why we would need to carry it.
I died waiting for you opening the next tool. Show all the tools in a first minute. Then chit-chat as long as you wish.
Good point about lack of functionality, but it looks damn good
Thanks for the review.
As ever, it depends on what you want. If you primarily seek a knife platform with useful extras then its quite a good design. The knife is a great shape with no play. When do you expect this model to come in ? It seems I've been waiting for a long time.
+Clay Campbell It has been discontinued, what's available now is the Multitasker 2
+Blade HQ Overviews Sadly, I didn't jump on when I had the chance. Thanks.
Clay Campbell The hole behind the awl is for chain stitching material. Put cord strands or dental floss, for example, thru the hole. push thru material & feed length of stitched area thru hole & material. Pull awl back out, leaving length of cord on side pulled thru. Clay Campbell see note above. good review. I wrote you about the stitcher on the awl. It's for chain stitching.
I'd never buy a multitool on which I could lose the bottle opener.
The mall blade with the little hole in it is used as a sewing needle... its notmally used to fix tents or sleeping bags... even to make leather os thick clothes repairing on the field.
I need one with a can opener. Any suggestions
Gerber is in Portland Oregon. I've seen them , pulling bear grylls gear off the assembly line . It's all American made . I live close buy . Leatherman is made in Portland also.
So why does it say Made In China?
Some of the material is bought from china,. But they are assembled in Portland. Company is in Portland
Robert West Apple's shit is designed in California but it's still made in China. It doesn't matter where the company is headquartered if their shit is made in China.
you could use it for scraping birch bark to get fine powder tinder.
+Jim Rafferty ...and then could be used to scrape the outer layer off a fire steel, and then a striker!
Best knife reviews ever.
I'm still waiting for the Emerson x Leatherman mashup!
James Maksymiuk You don't even have to do that. Just pull it up instead of back and out.
The awl to clear my bowl for my bong... great tool if your pipe is clogged
Could you use it to scrape carbon build up on an ar15 bolt?
SAKs and Leathemans still have no oponent
I think scrappers are common on rifle oriented multi-tools for use on parts subject to carbon buildup.
Hi. I'm sorry that I write so late. Only right now, just won the opportunity to buy this multitool. please tell me how he do every day.
I'll stick to my leatherman MUT for that price haha wow. I almost liked the tool. Then you said the price..
Does it come from the factory with sand in the pivot?
Hey! It's a tactical Swiss Army knife! Kinda cool, oh wait it's 184$...nah I'm good.
when it will be available?
Very cool looking tool. Only two things I don't like about it, first is the bulkiness. I don't mind the weight, but when it's so bulky that I feel it in my pocket, I won't get it. The other thing I don't like about it is that commander blade. I really hate the commander blade design. I wish it was a CQC-8, 9, 10, 12 or Gentleman Jim blade.
Very similar to a swiss army knife. Nice copy
Love The Knife,Very Nice.Thank You For The Video.👍
Realy well thought out design, id love to have one but thats waay too much money with so many other options out there
The only use for the awl is cleaning the carbon off your bolt of you m4/m16/ ar15 rifle. I think that the awl should just be labeled a scraper. I also think that for the money there are better options. Cool though. Emerson swiss army knife
Looks nice, but can't see it outperform a Swisschamp.
I assume the high cost is due to the D2 steel?? That is way above my price point.
If this costs $180 from China, what would it cost if made in the USA?
I have used a swisstool for many years for farm work. I'd like to find a better multitool some day. None have come close yet.
No glass breaker?
how order this product . more information
Did anyone notice the nicks in the main blade?
I guess the Awl could also be a carbon scraper?
180 for somthing made in China????????WHAT... thanks for the warning.

Nothing wrong with China, any real knife guy knows that there are plenty of gokd Chinese knives from companies like we or kizer

Slim Jim 420 based on your remark it is plain to see you're a troll looking for an arguement, not a constructive discussion.
+Stuart Mcconney You have to be kidding. Most owners prototype here and perfect that design with US workers. They then sell the design to be mass produced overseas at an enormous profit. What did you expect ? Thought all Americans love capitalism. LOL
Looks like they now have a combo blade which is a negative for me, I would much prefer the original.
The scraper is for Ferro rods and wood shavings for fires.
I guess he didn't notice how shredded the edge was, all kinds of messed up on the recurve. I still want one lol
OMG Emerson just invented the Swiss Army Knife. LOL
I think this would be cool if the waved knife was in the center instead of on the outside like other multi-tools. I have never seen any that didn't have the tool on the outer edges.
Looks fun, but at that price point I HAVE to go with the Leatherman.
i would rather have a Gerber dime
You can scrape stuff from inside gun parts
fantastic tool. hate the skull print though.
I like it, but I'm not sold on it. I would like it better if it had a Can Opener and a Shackle ( aka Bail or Clevis ) on it. It is a great looking knife though.
So its a matte black swiss army knife that costs $160 more?
needs pliers and scissors and id be interested. maybe a glass breaker/ hammer end
The scraper could be used for dressing skins.
almost perfect got everything i need except sissors ... why ?
The little scrapper is actually a leather punch there very common on swiss army knives and multi tools
scraper is probably for marking metal or scraping paint off screws or fixtures.
the blade is cool,honestly!
this review is great. will you please review the EDC-2?
Already done. Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/-ley2cqlrTc/видео.html

Could somebody clarify for me? When he said $189.00, is tht USD or pasoes?
Why the hell would a Chinese knife be sold in pasoes
Wow very cool knife!
*I thought Emerson would never put his name on anything but US made products.*
*But you have this tool and all the different Kershaw knives made in China, they do have the Emerson name and logo on them.*
I love this model
What does it mean by EDC?
Every Day Carry
Oh Ok, thanks

Every Day Carry acronym "EDC" like FUBAR- Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition. Your standard mil-slang acronym

Pretty cool looking.
What's the prise in indian nri
scrapper could be used for cleaning the bolt of an AR15

You could scrap magnesium and flint
