Thank you so much for the updated tour! I have been coming to Sanibel for 40 years, and was there and evacuated a few days before Ian. It's nice to see things coming back. One note about the Sanibel Siesta where I have always stayed. I was going to go for a week in June 2024, but found out elevators are not yet working. If you plan to stay there, please be sure to ask about the elevators. Otherwise, looking good!
Oh my gosh Sanibel looks so so much better !!! It was so heartbreaking right after the storm to see what was left or what wasn’t left BUT this beautiful island is on its way back !! Thanks for showing us the progress!!! Sanibel is still on my bucket list !!!!
We went to Sanibel Island. Why won't they tell you about how people are getting eaten alive by the Sand Fleas on the beach,in the seaweed floating in the surf, etc??!!! It was a great visit...but we paid for it for 3weeks after it!!!!!
Great video - thank you!! We'd stayed at the Island Inn years ago, then the spring before Ian we stayed at Beacview Cottages - we loved both, but Beachview was our favorite. I just booked a condo at Sanibel Siesta on the Beach for next spring and can't wait to return!!
Thanks for posting this update. I agree on the background music, was annoying after so long. So happy to see many improvements, and return of foliage. Tremendous progress, much more to go but more hopeful than before. It will just take time. I really do appreciate your taking the time to make this, and all the information on what is open etc. took a lot of work. Thanks again.
Great video. Thanks for the update. One suggestion for your consideration. The music loop played over and over and over again. Bstarted to annoy me after the first two minutes. Maybe that’s just me. And I consider to be a minor point. Thanks again.
Great video. We're on the east coast of SFL and were at South Seas Resort the weekend before the storm. Our anniversary tradition was dinner at Mad Hatter. So sad to see it all devastated but love to see the islands bounce back.
I am looking to go next year, May of 2025. I am a 55 yo male going on a solo vacation. Where would you recommend? Looking to relax and do a little fishing and snorkeling from the beach. Thanks
Tween Waters Inn would be a good bet. Good fishing both back bay and Gulf. It has some great fishing guides there. Also check out Rob at Captiva Water Sports he has boats to rent and is very knowledgeable. He is based at the resort. You could stop in at Whitney’s or the Bait box they have great local fishing knowledge and a good selection of tackle. Whitneys also does salt water fly fishing. Snorkeling is not great as the visibility is pretty bad. Although there are occasional days where the water is clearer. Hope this helps
Wooden leg, Lori! Hilarious! Aaaarrrggghhh! IMHO, the jingle music is annoying. You haven’t used that before, have you? Ding Darling Wildlife Drive can be walked on Friday, it just can’t be driven. Indigo Trail is open seven days a week for walkers and bicycles. I think you can ride a bicycle on Wildlife Drive on Friday I’m not 100% sure of that. A really strange site between Barracudas and the turn where the flashing light is. It looked like a wall or a warehouse. Definitely new, as that used to be a vegetated area. Any idea what that is? Thanks so much for another wonderful video!
We LOVED Spoondrift as well. Both of our daughters worked there :). Have not heard yet if they are returning but will definitely let everyone know if they announce that they are coming back!
i miss bellini's restaurant on captiva. now they put some stupid modern residentials in the midde of what was supposed to be a recreational shopping and dining area. damn investors. what the hurrican leaves, speculants kill the rest of the beauty. there should be an island committee preventing specualant activities of this kind.
ah, won't be the same. that place was so romantic at night, imagine the guy even played his piano while i inhaled my lobster after a 10 hour transatlantic flight. old fashion american style songs by the sea, nice crowd. my heart's bleeding after all this. @@TheSanibelCaptivaGuide
I might have missed this in the video but do you recommend the periwinkle cottages ? How are they looking? Is there any construction on the beach there right now?
Periwinkle Cottages are looking GREAT! I drove by them today. I don’t make it to the beach, but each day is different with what part of the beach they are working on.
Support your local legion, vfw hall, etc. pay respect to our veterans that fought for our freedoms. Enjoyed seeing how far the recovery has come. Ty

Ty for sharing! I’ve lived in Naples fl for 7 years and have never been to Sanibel and once I thought I should check it out we got the hurricane.

I remember when the Green Flash ( location) was Timmy's Nook...those were the days ❣️
Oh yes! A great time for sure!
Can't wait to go back.
Pat Slater did my wedding in June before the storm!! I got married at Casa Ybel and stayed for the week at a cottage on Captiva.
Thats so greta! She did our wedding too in 2015! She was amazing!
Yes Pat is great!
Appreciate. Your recent up date. Love that place. !
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks so much for the update of Sanibel and Captiva !
You are so welcome! Love to share the good news!

Baileys General Store ... any news on building progress? Thanks!!!!!!
Does anyone know if Spoondrift will come back to Sanibel ? Loved their poke bowls! Thanks for your video!
We LOVED Spoondrift as well. Both of our daughters worked there :). Have not heard yet if they are returning but will definitely let everyone know if they announce that they are coming back!

Yes we agree. The original owners of Bellini’s are opening a place in Fort Myers soon

You are so welcome! Thanks for watching:)
Thx for the video and the infos
Can u give any updates after Helene & Milton?? 🙏
It’s coming! Subscribe and click the notification bell and you will be notified as soon as we release it!
We are coming down in May. Is there a place to pick up groceries on Sanibel?
Yes Jerry’s Foods is open on Sanibel and the Island Store on Captiva. Enjoy your visit!
@@TheSanibelCaptivaGuide Thank you very much. Appreciate the information. We will definitely enjoy our time visiting the island 😊
It's really a shame for charges for parking. Many people don't have credit cards because of the high interest costs and yearly charges.
Do you guys know if the Sanibel Island Fishhouse will reopen again?
We haven’t heard. Not much happening on the property.
Is ding darling open?
Yes it is!
Baileys?
Definitely returning! Drawings are being drawn up at the moment. Yay!
First 🎉
Gold Star! 😀Thanks for the watch!
Me alegró el alma, verla despejada, sin cascotes, aluminio retorcido. Fue espantoso, mis condolencias a quienes han sufrido esto. Todo es por algo
This looks like a fake video to me....
Excuse me?
