Nice solution! I’ve used the hairy side of velcro to create somewhat of a barrier. But to be hounest, i’m taking it apart for maintenance very frequently to clean it, check if the pinion is still atached, check the mesh. Wrenching is half the fun for me 😊.
I'm going to pick up some of that tape. I have put a bit of grease in the channels for the motor rails, helps it slide out pretty easily once you release the retention tabs.
I put a slot in the chassis placed just where the spur gear push’s outward when going forward so the gear is not trying to suck dirt in. It actually works. There some dust from the gears but not much dirt. I never thought of using that kind of tape. Good idea.
this can help quite a bit, a very useful tip i learned from someone is to drill a hole where the spur gear sits and use a dremel to widen the hole, so any dirt that gathers in there will just fall through the hole. haven't had a single spur gear get chewed up since
Nice vid👌and thanks for the solution of the problem..i just wonder why Arrma make these gaps in the first place, when they know debris comes down there⚡️i use a net to cover the Electronics👍
Also seen this mod done by sticking the soft fury side of Velcro on instead of foil tape, you must of course not have the Velcro where the spur hangs down. The soft Velcro compresses between the chassis floor & the power module when you slide the modul in place creating a good seal from dirt etc entering.
I’ll bet it’s solely to sell more gears, motors, bearings and slipper clutches, and if anyone complains they can just blame the customer for not doing proper maintenance.

Damn Man Youre so true. I like your channel and the way You talk things out. Keep it up.

Excellent Video Again!

Sealed with grease, works great.

This makes perfect sense awesome video..
Seen others make a small slot in the chassis to prevent debris build up in the gearbox.

Awesome vid very helpful brotha!! 🤙🤙🤙

Simple excellent AJ...great fix..👍🇬🇧😎
Thanks... a lot
Would it be a bad idea to just cut a hole to let stuff fall out? Small enough for the tiny stuff at least
Thanks. But i dont get it. Why are you not using the normal transparent plastic-tape you show us? 3:40
He explained because the foil tape can be molded around the gear and not stick to it.
hi would u use electrical tape if u ran metal spur or what tape would you use
What u dipping? Lol
Hey AJ, is covering with tape better than drilling a slot in the chassis to let the debris escape. ruclips.net/video/hMrB7QeITaI/видео.html
its a crappy design and they should have fixed this problem already.
It really is. There’s just no need of it.

Great info thanks
