What a completely vile man , Agnes must have been a very strong woman to have survived such horrendous injuries

It is quite amazing she survived. And one can hear how he was so very sure that she had not! Taking credit for having saved her! Ughhhh!! Awful man!😡

Whether this was a personal or political "heinous," crime really doesn't matter because it was horrific either way. Agnes, was definitely a strong and courageous woman to have survived this senseless attack, period! I'm thrilled that James was given penal servitude but frankly that was a light sentence in comparison to the crime he committed. Do you know whatever happened to Agnes and her husband in regards to their marriage? Did they stay together?Great investigation, presentation, backstory, illustrations, photos and videos, too. Take care 🦋

yes - she was incredible! We believe as the crime was grevious assualt, and also, given the Irish - english relations of the time - that was why the penal servitude. Yes we actually do know how this ended! He continued to practice and live in london with agnes surviving another 20 + years. She continued to live in the Valley house, on her own, with occassional visits to london - with her steel face plate and heavy veil. incredible woman!🙌

My mum was from Mayo & her grandmother’s sister a widow with 2 kids below 5 we’re booted off her land for having no rent . Laughable when it wasn’t her’s to take that being the English .

No, no one does. And the lies he told - grrrr! 😡 Brave woman. he must have been terribly surprised that she survived.🤔

Interesting! We are aware that this kind of thing happened a lot. County Mayo is quite large - Achill Island is just one part of it - was it Agnes who had booted your family off or another? We were sure to use Irish newspapers as our source which were all quite supportive of her having been a "kind" landlord who had not booted anyone off. The reporters were looking and found she had a good relationship with her tenants, but possibly this changed?

She certainly was incredibly brave! And truly a woman before her time! Amazing. 🙌

What a HORRIBLE attack!! Poor Agnes must've been in ABSOLUTE agony!! It's a miracle she survived!!
What I don't understand is how Lynchaun
got a job with the Manchester Police when he was sacked from his first job as a school teacher!! Didn't they do background checks then?! Maybe he gave false references?! He'd be the LAST person I would employ as a policeman!!
Incidentally, The Valley House is now a hotel!! It looks really nice too!!
This was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT, Robin!! 💞👍👏❤💕

Thank you - how kind! 🙏No, we suspect things were by letters of reference which he possibly forged or lied about his background. Interesting point! An absolute heroine she was - very brave woman and very determined - good on her! We did not know it was now a hotel! Apparently it is still somewhat difficult to reach there...🤔

@@newsofthetimesYes, the island is quite remote, but VERY BEAUTIFUL!! Some people there still speak the Irish language too, which is good, because native languages need to be preserved!!
