  • The new Onewheel GT S-Series is NOT just for Racers and Speed Addicts, it's for weekend warriors and average riders like me who are looking for a fun and safe ride. The Onewheel GTS is built for both speed AND safety!
    GTS Nosedive clip: • GTS TOP SPEED NOSE DIV...
    I fell in love with the Onewheel ride about 5 years ago but because of an under powered system and constant worries of nosedives, I fell out of love with the Onewheel. The Onewheel GTS has rekindled my love for that sideways stance, shredding machine.
    The Onewheel GTS is perfect midlife crisis machine.

    Great honest review Jimmy! Like you and Andrew I’m a father and work full time. I can’t afford a serious injury that will put me on the sidelines at work and at home. I’m still riding a XR and have always ridden conservatively to avoid injury. I’ve gotten to the point were I have a good sense board feel and can tell what my XR is doing and what it can handle. But there are still occasions when I don’t trust the board.
    I keep telling myself I don’t need a GT-S because I ride conservatively and don’t chase speed. But you guys hit the nail on the head, that extra torque is peace of mind. Still undecided if I’ll pull the trigger on one, my XR has been rock solid and I want to wait for the kinks, if any, to get worked out on the GT-S.

      @@MrDmadness people crash at speed now on any kind of onewheel'd vehicle. Someone already nose dived at 35mph and someone also has a bricked board that turned off on em. But that's also happened with the GT + XR and it also happens with VESC's & EUC's.
      What's important is if it happens more often than before. Here's hoping it doesn't but it's unrealistic to ride these things and never think someone will take a tumble.

    There ought to be some way to have fail-safe sensing input to a pneumatic or spring-loaded output... that deploys down a wheel (maybe the size of a skateboard wheel) when loss of power is detected. I'm not a OW rider but I saw a nasty crash where there was a power loss causing the riders nose to slam into the concrete and ofcourse they ate shit. The video showed on here the guy was lucky to so gracefully crash when his nose slammed.

    I'm sticking to my eucs and have given up on riding ows for anything damanding.. the gts is still too little too late and for too much $.. cannot justify the price compared to what my ex30 and Extreme can already do.. I only ride my ow cbxr/ soon to be vesc for casual chill riding.. but for the greatest thrills my eucs cannot be matched.. I've also come to realize that it's simply more natural, intuitive and ergonomically better for the body to face forward in the direction of travel like we do walking or running . It's not natural nor ergonomically good for the body to be traveling for long periods of time in a sideways twisted stance.. still enjoy my ow but the stoke I get from riding ows is magnified multiple times riding eucs.. and I don't think people look cooler on ows and like clowns on eucs.. how you look is irrelevant.. how you feel riding them and how much you enjoy the ride is far more important imho and don't think it's necessary to limit yourself to just one or the other.. variety is the spice of life. But imho eucs are safer (still much higher headroom plus suspension) and more enjoyable

      For sure is. Having a single series means a single cell failure will kill the circuit and dump you on your face. Give it time and you will see this emerge, quote me on this. Its more dangerous

    • @DoctorDugong21
      @DoctorDugong21 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@MrDmadness That makes sense in theory, but we never saw that with the Pint which is a 15s1p pack, and I've seen pretty much every failure posted on the Onewheel subreddit since the Pint launch. Also, the way PEV packs are constructed, in a 2p pack (let's say 18s2p like the GT) 36 battery cells are welded together in pairs of two and act like a single cell as far as the battery management system is concerned. That BMS will initiate low battery pushback whenever any given cell (single battery cell or two battery cells welded into one paired "cell") approaches its low voltage cutoff. In the event of a cell failure in real world conditions, it's not clear to me that those welded pairs of cells will fare any better than a single cell. If one cell in a welded pair fails, it will just suck down the voltage of its paired cell, and you'd end up in the same situation, just several minutes later. I could be wrong, but if so I'd expect to have seen it in Pints or XR "stunt packs" made by Chi. I'm not saying this to be a Future Motion fanboy, and I'm certainly not one. After they removed the ability to view individual cell voltages a couple years ago I decided I'd never buy a product from them directly, and my opinion of them has gotten worse since. I'm just not convinced a single series pack is a real-world risk that merits changing one's buying decisions.
      Good video guys, and thanks for mentioning the right to repair considerations!

      @@DoctorDugong21 if the pack is 2p then 1 p wi,,still function in a failure, it will bleed into the other parallel circuit and drain really fast but will hold some voltage.

    • @DoctorDugong21
      @DoctorDugong21 7 месяцев назад

      @@MrDmadness I guess I'm still confused - what you said would make sense if it were two separate series. A cell in one series could fail and the other series would keep working. But the way these packs are constructed, it's not - it's pairs of cells welded together, and then those pairs in series. So it still behaves as a single series as I understand it. So for example on the 15s2p XR pack, if you view cell voltages in the OWCE app, it displays 15 cells and their voltages - those are the voltages of 15 welded pairs of cells. And it has 15 balance wires to manage those 15 pairs of cells. So if an individual cell fails, it doesn't seem like there really is a whole other series to back it up, rather it seems like there's only it's second paired cell to back it up. This is about the limit of my understanding, so maybe there are some particularities of how packs work where this construction still behaves like a real pair of two series, but I don't understand how it does. Maybe we shouldn't be calling a pack like the XR's 15s2p, or the GT's 18s2p - maybe that 2p is misleading?

    • @MrDmadness
      @MrDmadness 7 месяцев назад

      @@DoctorDugong21 the balancing leads are not the mains. If its 2 p then you have 2 banks at the l2 connection ( where the power leaves the circuit ) converging.
      In single bank ( single series ) each cell is acting as a primary part of the circuit so if a ell drops the power losess it's available l2 ( or ground ) that 133v to 0v as fast as electrons can flow, where 2 parallel cell configurations would only drop half the nominal voltage ( the second bank without failed cells still holds the circuit path )

    An EUC for that price get about 100 miles range and a scooter about 70+ miles.
    Even Electric Skateboards get 40 miles range and go faster at almost half the cost...It can't even climb a small drive way. That incline was probably less than 5%
