I love this version, I never hear a Disney make song quite like this. With so much emotion. Usually it is more reserved. Yes I know it’s altered from the original voice but I wish Disney had their males just “let go” and sing their hearts out like this.
I need a Disney movie with this story: Male Prince is coming of age to be married. His Mother (the Queen) and he have a strong relationship but his Father (The King) and him have always had tension. The King is seeking a bride for him, particularly the daughter of the King from a neighbouring region, in hopes of solidifying political ties. The Prince and this Princess meet and get along, but the Prince has reservations. He isn't sure why but he just doesn't feel anything for her. After his father overhears him talking to his mother about these feelings, they have a fight. The Prince leaves the castle and heads to the village to get some space. By happenstance he crashes/runs into another teenage boy in the village (stable boy or blacksmith's son maybe) And it's like a lightning strike between them. This is when he realizes that me may be gay. Over the next while, he makes every excuse to go to the village and meet up with this boy. It starts off as a friendship with clear romantic tensions, as neither one wants to make a move. But it becomes clear that they have fallen in love. PLOT TWIST: Maybe we eventually see things from the village boy's perspective, and find out that, in fact, he isn't a boy at all, but a girl with transgender tendencies (She also has to hide how she really is and dresses up as a boy when she's around town). Perhaps her father (a single father widowed) knows this about her and is fine with it as long as the truth never comes out, for the sake of his job in the village and her safety. Perhaps this comes out at the worst possible time, and now the Prince feels betrayed and even MORE confused than before. The Prince decides to go forward with marrying the other Princess his father chose, because he is heartbroken and angry. I'm picturing some big gesture where the trans boy disrupts the entire wedding in a big dramatic gesture of love, saying he loves him and will be whatever he needs him to be. The end result should be that he realizes he fell in love with who she was, male or female, and she identifies as male from then on. They get married and both become Princes, and later Kings, or perhaps leave the castle to love their own life. The villain would likely be partially the King, or perhaps the King's steward or right-hand who hopes that sabotaging the relationship between father and son will somehow benefit him. To this end he may reveal the truth about the village boy and how the Prince feels about him. I think it would be an excellent story filled with lots of lovely male tenor/female alto singing!
As much as a lot of people like this song with Todoroki, I'm surprised there's no animatic yet. I've always liked the idea of Todoroki singing this song. If I could draw, I'd definitely make an animatic.
