    Marc-Andre Leclerc...the subject of the new documentary The Alpinist was doing by far the most difficult free solo climbs. It's just he did them without many people knowing and didn't want the attention. I encourage everyone to check out this documentary.

    Dan Osman deserves a near number 1 place for his free solo speed climb that inspired and brought free soloing to mainsteam attention. I'm sure Alex Honnold has referenced Dan osman's solo as one of his inspirations.

    The overall improvement from your first vid is noticeable. WELL DONE LAD. If you were to continue these series, or ones like it ..... some thoughts
    *Patrick Edlinger’s solo of Pinechbule 7a+, in the Verdon is just beautiful
    *The Modern History of FreeSoloing must include the late great John Bacher. His solo of Nabisco Wall was unbelievable at the time
    *The inimitable Bernd Arnold climbing in the Elbe Sandstone Towers of Saxony Germany & Bohemia. His style, grace & ethics were above reproach. Just legendary
    *Hot Henry Barber.... who not only pushed the free grades at the time but did solos that just rattled the climbing community of the time.
    All in All, we’ll done Boyo. Thank you for your work

      @Stefair ......BTW Here’s the account of the first SOLO FREECLIMB of El Cap by Britain’s Pete Whittaker. He climbed the same route as AH, FreeRider, a year before AH’s freesolo, becoming the first person ever to solo freeclimb El Capitan. Solo FreeClimbing is by far the most physically demanding variant in the Games Climber Play. ruclips.net/video/CikzYN0z4zU/видео.html

      @Stefair ..... also the late great Ulli Steck aka The Swiss Machine, really deserves note. At the time of his death he was the greatest High Altitude Alpinist Climber in the game. His 80 Summit’s in 60 days in the Alps will stand for sometime ruclips.net/video/gib-6U0U3nE/видео.html

    In another video you could include Greg kerzhner soloing bohico 13.b at the RRG not once but twice, Dan osman at the NRG getting frustrated after repeatedly falling on the crux clip of "gun club" 12.d and deciding he is just gonna not use a rope so he won't have to make the clip, and John bacher not only free soloing but then down climbing the 12s at the Owen's river gorge. those 1/2 and 1/4 pad flat edges have as much friction as a bar of soap. The kind of holds where you're convinced looking at your hand is the thing keeping it there. Steph Davis should get a mention too

    I thought Ray Jardine, Father of Spring Loaded Camming Devices, did the F.A. of Separate Reality 🤦🏻‍♂️..... his pic/ post card was legendary

    • @mudimba
      @mudimba 3 года назад +1

      Definitely Ron Kauk. If it’s got a Carlos Castenada name, you know Kauk put it up in the 70s.
      Perhaps you’re thinking of the Phoenix. Jardine gained a lot of notoriety for putting that up around the same time.

    • @robertnewell4054
      @robertnewell4054 3 года назад

      @@mudimba …. That’s right, that’s right. RK had preplaced hexes from above with long runners (or something to that extant) I think it’s that classic PostCard of RJ “doing the first lead with gear placed on lead” (or something like that) using his prototype Friends.
      I arrived in the Valley the Spring of ‘82. I was 18…. And man if the OldHeads hadn’t put forth the whole Castañeda series as mandatory reading. Weren’t Tales of Power & Separate Reality tributes to his writings?

    • @mudimba
      @mudimba 3 года назад +1

      @@robertnewell4054 I do think RJ got the second ascent, that makes sense that it would have been the first while placing gear. Those guys were quick with hexes, but placing hexes on Seperate Reality would have been a tall order, even for them.
      Tales of Power and Seperate Reality are both Casteñada books. I want to say there is another climb with a reference, but I’m blanking right now. When I first got into climbing I felt obligated to read all those books, but it’s been so many years I’ve forgotten them. Maybe I should revisit them.
