Had a buddy of mine get 2 DPFS replaced under warranty plus they gave him a rental in the meantime so its def worth it for sure. It has to be tempting to delete and tune but for a car with such a long warranty just makes sense to stay stock or as stock as possible

When I first got mine o too was looking for cat back exhausts and watched some videos etc. it does no difference there’s too much restrictions to hear anything unfortunately even with the reset muffler and res out it still doesn’t sound much difference. It sucks!
I put a Malone Stage 1 in my 04 with an EGR delete. Immediately I gained 200km each tank. Now i am guaranteed 1000km each fill and my math shows that’s 4.7 to 5.2 litres per 100km.
I’ve been looking at deletes already that I wanna do.. it’s going to end up happening eventually I rather put some more money into the Miata and mini rn but a delete sounds too appealing haha.. how is the cp3 fuel pump many people have pointed me into getting one
Diego Arias I personally haven’t gotten the CP3 pump yet because I as well have other projects like a house and El Camino that are taking my time and money. But it’s supposed to be way more durable than the CP4 our cars come with and necessary once you get around 250hp to push enough fuel. I’m sticking with my CR170 for awhile but if I had the extra cash a big turbo would be awesome and I’d definitely have the cp3 to take advantage. I’ll probably end up getting the Cp3 much sooner than the big turbo for piece of mind/preventative maintenance.
Diego, how hard is it to do the Kerma tune with out much knowledge on tuning cars. Reason i ask is because i recently had a software updated and I made my 2015 Golf DSG drives like my dad's Camary. slow, fast gear change, slow to speed up, slow response. Just wanted beck to before or better.
I live in California, will it still pass a Smog/Emissions test with this modification? I would hate to deal with going back and forth with the mod. I have a 12 GOLF TDi MK6 6 speed.
NOT TRUE with the cars with scr (ablue) that system is a pain in the ASS, I’m going with a Malone stage 2 because I am DONE. and fed up with CEL’s for nox system performance etc. I had the adblue tank replaced and the nox sensor replaced on my 2012 passat under the emissions modification warranty which would have been 5,000 CAD$ out of pocket and that only bought me ONLY 2 years of trouble free driving. My CEL’s have just come back and I’m happily doing stage 2 with DPF intact ( for now) as my warranty just expired 500km ago. My fear is the dreaded countdown to a no start with this adblue system. The fuel economy and performance improvements are a bonus which I’m looking forward to. No wonder modern diesels never caught on in North America ; the emissions systems are too much of a pain in the ass and NOT RELIABLE ENOUGH. Oddly enough my DPF has been fine 240,000km’s and counting trouble free I’ll keep until it’s light comes on it keeps the emissions cops away. VW recommends you have the dealer check for ash loading, I asked the dealer about that and the gave me this stupid blank look like they did not know what the F#ck I was talking about!!!!! Idiots!
The difference is when you get the td1 tag on your vw that a tech can't control and automatically shows up on the skoda system and you warranty is void. You will then have to pay out of your own pocket to replace that dpf filter (3k vw price) and 6 month wait on backorder dpf. The same day I got it back dpf light came back on needing a new cat and nox sensor and couldn't even get them to fix it until this week because people been out of work for covid but I get car back tomorrow.
Yeahhh I hear you on that though but I’ve already had warranty work done on my car got p2015 fixed and got a brand new intake manifold while being tuned I flashed it back to stock obviously they can see when a car gets flashed over and over again.. now I do know some people at the dealer and idk what they do to get around that but they did lol now emissions stuff idt I would get so lucky BUT if my dpf were to fail I’m probably just gonna delete
The alh engine will always be the best TDI haha the Cjaa is hit or miss for people. Some people get lucky and get mid 40s mpg and others can barely get the 30 im not sure why. Luckily for me I always get around 600 miles to a tank with a roof box even years later 120k + miles
I did the math for EGR/DPF deletes with fuel economy in mind... It saves you a grand total of 1.15¢/km driven since it increases range by 146km... Costs of parts and professional installation including the 100% necessary tune is an estimated $5,000 Which means you'd need to buy 442.5 full tanks of fuel and drive 434,535km to simply break even on your investment... To put that into perspective the MOON is 384,400km away... You don't do the deletes to save money on fuel, you do the deletes for power, sound, reliability(if serviced correctly) and fun. It's a money pit, but... It might still be worth it.
I know some people who did the rawtek stage 2 with a Malone tune- installed the exhaust themselves, brought in for the tune and end cost was $650 for a manual & $1150 for an automatic. (less than the cost of a new dpf)
Hey Diego, Diesel fan here. I drive a 2016 VW Touareg TDI with 55k miles, still under manufacturers warranty until 120k miles. Once that happens I want to delete def/egr. Being that I live in NY, I would need to put it back every year for state inspection, how much should I cost to delete and then reinstall ? And where can I get it done ?
Perfect time to buy one they’re super cheap lol and tbh I’ve read a bunch of different warranty stuff when I punched my vin into the vw website it showed the car had a 10 year extended warranty from the “fix” date so I’m not sure but tbh a delete is gonna happen soon as much as I wanted to avoid it lol
So the warranty has 2 parts 10 year 120k from the cars in service date so when it was bought new from vw. The second is a 4yr/48k from the date the fix was conducted. They did this for those vehicles that were already past the 120k mark. Now the mk7 got special warranty if it was cpo or a stop sale those did get a 10yr/100k. Loving the TDI content keep it up!

How about those diesel prices now?
@@timbenracing wow how bout those diesel prices now! $6.40
@@tonygomes3617 no kidding. Thankfully here I north georgia we are at around $5.60 a gallon. Definitely pays for itself quick now. Still haven't done it yet though.
How exactly is this a kerma vs Malone video when you only have used the kerma and only talk about the kerma…
I get 650 miles to the tank.... 2011 VW TDI jetta 6 speed.... hwy miles after diesel gate
Wow that’s awesome ! Is it stock??
Jus the reprogram from VW
Will this same kerma device work on my DSG? I get 37-42 mpg around 540ish miles on a tank on my 2012 sportwagen and would love to have all i can get if possible
Yes it would work with your dsg.. now I feel the cjaa engines are hit and miss.. I have a few friends by me with golfs and jettas and some get awesome mileage 550-650 a tank and others get 450ish so it depends really. But if you’re averaging around 540 a tank the tune while driving nicely will probably increase you from 540 to around 580-600ish
@@DArias thank you for the reply whats a cjaa engine? Sorry brother i don't knkw alot about cars lol
No no you’re good! Haha the cjaa is the engine that came in the golf, Jetta, and sportwagen from 09 I believe up to 2014.. they’re great engines just seems like they’re hit or miss when it comes to fuel mileage. Don’t forget a lot depends on maintenance, the condition of your dpf and egr etc
Your VW dealers must have known what they were doing with the scandal fix. Good for you! I’m sad to report that my VW dealer failed me.
Did they refuse to work on your car??
@@DArias Oh yes they worked on it!! I have had turbo faults, dpf faults, limp mode issues and they would not honor the warranty after the “fix”. Btw, I logged a complaint with VW and after 2 weeks they said, “too bad, so sad!” I’m saving up for a dpf delete!
@@Jimmyzb36 I would dispute that. The warranty specifically states "Conflicts
concerning the warranty are to be resolved in favor of the consumer."
Hahahaha. Doesn't want to void out his warranty, but tunes his car. These cars keep track of how many times it's been flashed. Your warranty is fucked
Luckily for me the dealer I deal with hooks me up tells me to flash the stock tune on it and ready to go so ..... and I’ve already had my wagon in before after the tune 0 issues 😀
Not everyone has that situation though sooo obviously with a egr and dpf delete I’m screwed but the way the car is now I know personally I won’t have any issues if something were to happen so I have peace of mind
@@DArias just a matter of time until it gets flagged. The software is automatically uploaded to VW when the dealership plugs the computer in and scans the car. Go watch humble mechanics video, his VW got flagged even after some warranty repairs with a tune
I know man lol I have a few buddies who are techs at the dealer I go to I know the risks I’m faced with I’m just saying that I have my own personal way of how to go about it if something happens.. humble mechanic is 10000000000% correct in everything he says but not every dealer or everyone you deal with plays by the rules. Regardless of that I’m most likely going to delete my wagon soon either way loll 😂
Am I able to put a malone tune on a stock 2011 TDI wagon or is it just the Kerma?
Malone offers tunes for stock tdis
I live in DC and surprisingly once I register a diesel I don't have to do emissions, if that was your case, what would you do?
Yes absolutely.. if I didn’t hav to worry about emissions over here I would strongly consider it.. only thing really holding me back is price on the deletes and tune which for a daily idk if I’m full committed to doing that when I can use that money for some cool mods on other cars etc
Delete and tune. Malone stage 2, gets rid of the regen heat, better MPG, more power, and ability to use quality oil (VW oil doesn't have the additives your engine should have because it would plug up the dpf)
But if you dont have anything to go bad you dont need the warranty
I want to do a stage 2 tune on my 2006 Jetta tdi 1.9L BRM engine but I already had the car deleted way before I knew about tunes I’m still confused if that’s a good decision
I'd do it after my warranty is done at 200k km ;-) I think up here Canadians prefer Malone for some reason
Malone is great haha, if I were to have deleted my car from the beginning I would have gone Malone still on the fence for deleting if I end up doing it I’ll be switching to a Malone tune haha
I'm on the fence a bit.. my 14 jetta tdi is my daily and I do 130km (80miles) a day, 95% highway.. I have a light foot and I avg about 38mpg. I'll need to do the math and see if it's worth it....
@@danf8047 it’s for sure worth it when warranty runs out, you will average 10 more mpg tuned and deleted, once out of warranty the emissions shit is expensive.
I have a 2010 mk5 jetta, what would you recommend doing to get some nice exhaust noise out of it
can i get one of these tunes for my 2013 jetta with a automatic!
You have a TDI I’m assuming ?
Diego Arias yes
Yeah absolutely you can then! They also offer a tcu tune for the dsg which make the shits much faster and more crisp def worth it
@@DArias any info or guidance on where I can start looking into "tunes n mods"?
Great tuning feedback! Thank you
Thank you! I appreciate it !
My Passat with the e288 does 45 to 50 without a tune
Different engine has DEF and water cooled intake. Should do better.. my 2016 Q5 gets almost the same milage as my 2012 sportwagen. V6 DEF.
Did you need to install a bigger turbo with that tune? And what’s the difference between that tune and stock?
The turbo should be able to keep up, mine used to push 17 PSI constant when I didn’t know it was shot out, boi oil or nothing. The new one, before it took a shit because it was remanufactured, was hanging around 20 PSI.
My 2011 2.0 TDI JSW is averaging 450 miles per full tank, so those results are absolutely awesome! I'm going to look further into the Kerma tune!
Nice!! I do a lot of highway driving so I do get higher numbers than many.. but this video was a while ago so now my numbers have gone down a bit and assuming it has to do with the dpf clogging up little by little over time
*breathes heavily
Delete it.
You're a trip, tuning will void factory warranty, delete it. You'll gain performance and probably hit over 50mpg with cleaner air for the motor
deleting your egr and dpf will actually get you more mpg's and get more life out of your engine with the egr gone
Oh 1000000% that’s correct but with the extended 10 year 100k mile diesel gate warranty give idk If it’s worth doing tbh if something were to go wrong which would be expensive and I get it done free
What's the egr?
@@mordireches6394 Exhaust Gas Recirculation. emissions component that works by recirculating part of the exhaust gas back in to the engine and the result is less pollutants (Nitrous oxide) at the cost of slightly less MPG.
@@WorldXHero thanks for the reply.
@@WorldXHero why would recirculating the exhaust cause less gas mileage? N also wouldn't that just result in more "toxic" pollution? Wouldn't the gas just be getting more saturated n concentrated? I'm a total newb btw, just bought my first vw, 14 tdi sportwagen. Looking forward to becoming a "gear head"
My untuned 2014 Jetta TDI Sedan gets around 46mpg Freeway if I keep my foot out of it Lol
Best current tune for a 2012 Touareg tdi that goes along with emission laws?
Yeah good luck on that! Its not 10 years from the day of fix it's 10 years from the date of the manufacture of the car so don't let them blow smoke up your ass
“Ya know”
But... do you know? Do you?
Diego Arias ohhh trust me, you know I know
I get 48mpg with out tune
What kind of tdi do you have?
@@wegoodoverhere 2015 vw passat
@@brandonjohnson7851 okay nice. Yeah mine is a 2013 passat sel but the most I've ever gotten was 46 and that was very rare I usually get around 35 to 40 sometimes a little over 40 if I'm real easy on her and mostly driving hwy.
