  • I discuss the two major tuning options for the CJAA 2.0 TDI, offered in Jettas, Golfs, Beetles and Jetta Sportwagens from 2010-2014. kermatdi.com/ has been around for a long time and offer a great tune for keeping your exhaust intact. malonetuning.com/ Offers options to delete your Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). When adding power, its always a good idea to upgrade your clutch on the manual transmission models, or flash the software for the transmission on DSG equipped cars.

Great video. Basically confirms brief research with some personal annotations that are always helpful. Thanks for taking the time to present your opinion! (By the way, not one red-blooded car owner snooping about for tuning advice would give two nickels for what the EPA has been silly enough to write into “law”…) ((haha.. just bustin’ your chops, dude)

Did the kermaTune #1 and dsg tune shortly after my particulate filter died. Its totally worth it. It bring life back to what the mk6 should have been. Liqui moly diesel and oil additives are your friend! Everything is still stock, though in sport mode and punching it - screams in a way and feels like its asking for a better intake and exhaust.

Kerma recently updated their power numbers on the website. now showing an increase of 50whp and 100lb/ft of torque. still showing up at $650 on the website. To me, it seems like a pretty good bang for your buck.

i've had a malone stage 2 since day 1 on my 2010. Golf it's always been removed with flashzilla when taken to the dealer. have had nothing go wrong with the car in 175k miles of hard driving 6sp manual, original clutch and front struts, great engineering on this car.

  • @kens.213
    @kens.213 Год назад

I've had the original Kerma tune for 4.5 years on my 2013 Golf TDI/DSG and 45k miles. I bought it with 24k miles, right after the diesel-gate cars came back on the market after VW 'fixed' them. More like castrated them!!
Average MPG is just over 40mpg, best tank was 51mpg. MPG would be better but I drag a trailer around with a motorcycle or golf cart, and a car dolly (no car on it) that is heavy duty. First thing I noticed with this tune is the long periods between regenning of the diesel particulate filter (DPF). Second thing was the MPG, much better!
When I bought the car in Dec 2018 I was getting MPGs in the 36-37mpg range, and regens every 100 or so miles, city or highway. Unacceptable to me. So I got the Kerma tune within a few months. Dealer replaced the DPF after I had the car a couple of weeks and before I got the tune. New filter, I'm good for up to 150k or more before it takes a shit on me.
Got a nephew with a 2014 Jetta TDI that just turned 160k miles, had the DPF fill up on him, so he did what any master mechanic would do, tore out the DPF, altered the software so it 'sees' near-zero pressure differences in the sensors before and after the DPF so it doesn't trigger the regen cycle, and is getting nearly 50mpg average! Mostly highway miles. That will be my next move, but my Golf only has 68k miles so far. My state has no emissions check for diesel vehicles.
    Yay!!!
The Kerma tune is great for increased performance. The 'fixed' CR TDIs are hamstrung. My tuned Golf will outrun any stock CR TDI with the VW 'fix', easily. But that's not why I bought the tune, I bought it for the economy. Which is why I bought the car in the first place. The prior VW I had was a brand new 2013 Jetta TDI/DSG. Loved that car. I got 41.1mpg overall over 25k miles and three years I had it, I left it totally stock. But when VW offered to buy back the Jetta for $900 more than I paid for it OTD, well, I'm no fool, I know a good deal when I see one.
If you can find a CR TDI for a decent price, keep the Kerma tune in mind. Kerma does not recommend you remove any of the emissions hardware, or even disable the functions of said hardware, as their tunes will not work with altered cars. I think what they did is copy the original tunes (the illegal ones VW put on these CR cars) and made slight improvements to it. It has more power than the stock tune, and way more than the 'fixed' tune, which is complete crap! IMO it's $650 well spent if you're going to keep one of these CR TDI cars for the long haul. Makes it so much more fun to drive than those 'fixed' and neutered TDIs.

@@azizhachimi8744 I have a 6MT. But I would wait till the DPF goes out to delete it. Because it’ll cost you 2000$ to delete it. You’ll be able to recover some money from the DPF and cats, around 600$ if you look around. I think Malone has a tuner that slightly bumps the numbers with emissions still in tack. If so get the Malone tuner because when you delete in the future you’ll already have the tuner.

I am curious about getting a manual tdi in the us, specifically florida. Ive grown up with diesel 4 cylinders when i used to live in germany because my parents had them. I am just curious about the longetivity specifically with a tuned tdi. is it reliable when you deleted dpf, etc? and where are you going to get the work done at? tdi's almost seem like old volvos.. like no one i know seems to want to work on them .

I have a 2011 Golf Tdi 6 speed manual with a custom dyno tune from malone tuning not going to list any of the factory installed emissions equipment that may or may not have fallen off and in the process of "finding" replacements for and have owned it going on 3 years now 2 years of driving 1.5 hours round trip 6 days a week and 1 year of driving 4 hours round trip 5 days a week for work in it and I have only had to replace the front wheel bearings, the alternator which due to a factory defect when I put the rebuilt alternator on the charging wire got so hot it melted the fuse box under the hood. So I had to replace the charging wire with a 4 gauge one and put a used fuse box on it but other than that only had to do preventive maintenance on it and I don't drive it like an old man i have fun with it alot

Drive on the highway in 3rd-4th at a high rpm for a good while. It may seem like your hurting the car….. but your not at all👌🏼 the dpf is clogged because you drive the TDI like a normal car. They need to be driven hard “not beat” so the exhaust temp heats up the dpf and burns out the clog……..
After you exit the highway, turn off, pull key, insert key and start.
Repeat if still in limo mode

Stevenson tuning........hmmmm...... I don't have good feelings about Stevenson anymore. He is up there on the reservation thinking he can do whatever he wants. And he thinks he is far enough away from anyone to ever have to deal with or see a customer in person when he does not deliver for them.
I came to him as a customer with a 2011 MK6 Jetta looking to do a delete for fuel economy and obviously DPF delete.
He wrote a tune and I passed my state inspection but fuel economy is equal to but certainly not better than stock.
To keep a long story short here, the very first few tunes he wrote me was giving me over 50 miles to the gallon City, high 50s Highway. That Tune however was giving me an overboost code, it took over 9 months and multiple versions of the tune for him to finally give up on improving fuel economy.
Then instead of Stevens him himself like a man, sent one of his dingbat underlings to tell me that I was getting poor fuel economy because it was cold (winter). Really then why do we have a cold air intake on our TDIs?
(Sure Sub-Zero temperatures are no good (but here in the Mid-Atlantic states in December at that time it wasn't colder than 40°))
If cold air is really that bad wouldn't we have a warm air intake instead of a cold air intake?
And another thing that dingbat underling tried telling me was that I never got over 50 miles to the gallon, he said that's impossible..
I sent him pictures and screenshots of receipts showing that I have empirical data proving I got well over 50 MPG and that shows me filling up just north of Baltimore and then not filling up again until south of Atlanta Stevenson tuning called me a liar.
So choose Stevenson tuning only if you're okay with just getting by and not expecting him to go the extra mile and figure out problems if you have any.
Basically if he does a tune for you he's only going to give you the bare minimum and give up instead of taking the time to get it dialed in and figured out.

Basically a tune will max out your fuel pump pressure and your injectores this crap you get better MPG is rubish look at a golf say the 140hp and the 170hp the 140 is way better mpg than the 170 yet a tuner can get you 200bhp and better economy lol i know a few people who ended up needing new set of injectores its a lottery getting a remap it can be very expensive just buy a more powerful car to start with
