truly delightful and innovative interpretation .. My mother has sung Olympia several times.. and I have performed some of the villain arias. My favorite opera. such great fun.
That personal variation is written into the music, which is one of the things that makes it so brilliant, and helps showcase the creativity and skill of each singer who performs it.
Also I’m pretty sure the neck bolting coming off was a real wardrobe malfunction, and she turned it into one of the best parts of the entire performance. (The leg reveal was pretty amazing tho 😂)
Loving the theatricality and humour of this performance even if the vocals are the best I've ever heard at times. It's a great take on a classic song and her voice is incredible.
Yet another excellently done performance of one of the hardest coloratura arias ever written! The comedy is spot on for the theme of the play; nice to see also that the soprano stuck to the basic notes instead of making it harder! Though I do enjoy the various extrapolations that many have done. This was easily one of my favorites!
Seems like everyone tries to out do previous versions, costumes and comedy gets pushed more and more to the limit, maybe this is as far as the comedy should go, the vocal was starting to suffer I think, but still wonderful, loved the grunt at 4.40 was awesome!
@@nickdavis965 yes. Because you need a ceryain stance for singing, keep your shoulders at a certain position, and makesure not to tire your voice too much.
@@b.quinchana yes i fully agree posture is very important, but you dont have to be stuff and motionless either. However in this case I think too much focus was out into the antics of the performance and technique suffered a bit. It's a fun song to sing, enjoy doing it. Just dont get carried away with it.
@@choirkitty For me I found that I had trouble actually listening to the song because the antics and costume were so distracting, especially the leg props
beautiful voice, creepy doll. amazing funny performance. other olympias you might want to take home, this one will move in the middle of the night and stare at you. loved it. EF is an amazing beautiful voice, one of my favs
How can one not appreciate and chuckle at Elizabeth Futral making fun of her character, the doll "Olympia"? Vocally she was great. We simply do not hear enough from this dazzling, powerful, articulate coloratura soprano, Elizabeth Futral. She is simply on top of her gain in her career. I wish the Met, and so many other big companies would mount operas around her and utilizing such brilliant talent. Lord knows, she a beautiful woman ( like Moffo was ) to boot. Easy on the eyes. But she is a educated woman, who does her homework in what she performs and it shows. I wish the Met would've let her sung this season Donizetti, tragic 3 Queens at Met. Would've been historic for sure. She has the range, agility, and 9 times out ten, she hits the stratospheric high notes spot on!! Come on opera companies, get your damned act together, and get this talented Olympic ( not pun intended ) singer in bigger and splashy productions.
My wife and I have been privileged to see Elizabeth Futral in many performances. She has an astonishing voice and is among the most accomplished singing actors we have ever seen. She actually performed ALL of the primary female roles, Hoffman's loves, in this production. She is so incredibly gifted and can perform any kind if role. We have also been lucky to have met her on several occasions, a real delight for people like us who have been opera fanatics from very early childhood! BRAVA ELIZABETH!
Já ouviu a Carla Maffioletti arrebentando nessa música, tem inúmeras apresentações dela, não achei ninguém que a superou tanto em técnica quanto em carisma. ruclips.net/video/6BdiW9Fol4s/видео.html
The city of Oz has really done some terrifying things since the wizard left.
Lmaooo
That was literally the first thing I thought of when I saw this clip 😂
I mean, Olympia is basically what would happen if Tick Tock were a beautiful fembot instead of a grouchy old man-bot
😂😂😂😂😂
@@Chaosdude7111
Was about to say Bride of Tick Tock...I do hope that isn't stealing your thunder.
_The costume design is amazing._
Omg, this is one of my old voice teachers! So happy to see her version of Olympia is catching wind with rest on the algorithm!
She is a monster
@@mynameisaction438 hush now, your flattery precedes you, she certainly is a monstrously magnanimous and majestic performer

Jim Spencer Amazing Family
Who's your mother? Would love to hear her song
Ju AC me too! And that’s really cool!
It's amazing how many different singers perform this bloody hard vocal and actor's piece so different ways. That's a great job done once again.
That personal variation is written into the music, which is one of the things that makes it so brilliant, and helps showcase the creativity and skill of each singer who performs it.
I love the little gasps she's added to the song. Other performances I've seen don't have that unless I missed them. Amazing!
Meet Olympia, the doll from the Emerald city.

I really like how there are so many different ways to do this opera.

A wonderful performance..Humour, coloratura and poise..and I love the steampunk staging and references
By far my favorite rendition. The fact that she played another breakdown to fix her neck piece was beautifully done
What a great Colouratura. I am so sad she's retired. I love her so much. I have her CD of Lucia. Its fabulous! One of the best Lucias ever.
I love her custom. It’s make her look exactly like a mechanic doll without making her look ugly
AMAZING! The best acting ever in this aria! And I haven’t heard such amazing trills and staccatos since the legendary Joan Sutherland sang this piece!
I love her voice but there are pitch problems which Is unusual for her. I love the fun she has with this though!

Interesting interpretation...this is one is up there with some of the freakier ones I've seen.
Jason May there’s one version where this scene is basically a sex shop
Culbycove aka Rick omg yes the Audrey Luna one. This version looks like a masterpiece compared to that one.

Like the movements/noises she was doing has a negative effect on how she sings?

Probably one of the more unique performances
didnt expect to see my voice teacher on the recommended page...and outdoing me with the same song im working on right now for that matter...
I loved her😍🥰
Totally ridiculous and completely cute. If Offenbach could see all the various productions of this work I'm sure he would 'ROFL for hours.
He's probably doing it in his grave.
Not my favorite voice for Olympia, but you can bet I'll never forget this performance. 🤣
Best performance of this song to date. Loved it and love the comical variation

"beautiful voice"? Hardly. She couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.
Try not to compare into different versions. Each one is particular beauty. This one is strange, New amazing. So take this as a New way.
this will always be my favorite one...i keep coming back to it.
For me the best version, not only for her technique but also theatrically and managing the costume glitch in a humorous way. Amazed👏👏👏💐
I frequently watch this songs performances on youtube, i always come back to this one the most...the best out here imo
wow! how can she act AND sing so good at the same time?!
This is with out a doubt the most entertaining version...Bravo Ms. Futral
Excelente versión... Muy simpática
Very cool costume! I love her acting. And her voice is perfect.
This young lady has an incredible vocal range.
The similar people in the background gives me a Oompa Loompa vibe.

Wagner and Offenbach were contemporaries. Did they ever run into each other in Paris and wonder out loud "Exactly what are you doing?"
I'm hearing Brünnhilde singing 'Chanson d'Olympia'.
@@mari.20244 Hmmm......What's been going on in Mime's workshop?.....
@@bignickfromcleveland9104 That means Elizabeth Futral has a too heavy voice to play Olympia. Wagner is better for her, as Brünnhilde character.

Futral seems to have a more dramatic mezzo voice, rather than the bel Canto coloratura vocal style needed for Olympia. Great job though!
The best version I know.
So talentuous.
Excellente mise en scène !

I can see her sing "Rise Rapture, Rise"
