I would love a chance to reach out to Jamie Marich and ask a few questions as I work with Tortured Refugees and have just started using EMDR after being trained. the cultural ramifications, boundaries, overcoming language, etc...
I'd rather see these exercises with real clients rather than such an obliging fellow dr. I have clients with complex trauma that it seems these exercises are difficult for them.
what arises in me as I watch this video, is the pain of the hell I'm in: - rage - poverty - shame - old and unaccomplished - perpetually forever single - never had a real friend my whole life - grief - depression - the pain of the past rapes me - the terror of the future paralyzes me with fear
Sometimes the direction of the hand movements may go diagnal or vertical even if the therapist feels the patient is stuck, this helps to get things moving again.. :-)
@@ts3858 she is a PhD. She is through ICM Institute for Creative Mindfulness, they do a lot of EMDR trainings. EMDR has a protocol that you follow, there is a reason for wording, slow bilateral/ hand movements, fast bilaterals and everything else she does. EMDR has about an 80% efficacy rate compared to the 50% of regular talk therapy.
