The market for this isn’t “regular people” ferrying kids around, although it would work well. Where I live (coastal city) most Uber Black and other Black Cars are already Escalades, Tahoes, Ford Expedition. Three rows, tons of room for luggage. These will sell well for that market and will be nice and quiet when I’m being driven to/from the airport! Bravo GM!
Considering its size, it seems like an excessive use of both human and environmental resources. And given the number of seats? It's hardly justified. I can't imagine it being downtown.
Lol yep, this compared to say an Aptera (which is just fine for most commuters), they could build nearly a dozen Apteras and that many more people can drive to work or around town with low emissions. That battery factory GM is making better be pretty epic!
Whoever signed off on no CarPlay clearly needs to rethink that decision 😭 Just because Tesla has decent software doesn’t mean every car brand needs to do the same
Looks like GM missed the memo where most of their tech forward customers live out of their phones, and thus expect the cars to integrate with them. I would rather go with the EQS SUV or a US made EQE SUV, which still offers phone integration.
Considering *gm* has one of the best infotainment systems on the market they’re able to rid themselves of apple CarPlay restrictions and business. I have no doubt that Cadillac and Google can develop a better user experience than apple CarPlay if they divert their attention solely to do just that. Have you seen the systems in the Lyriq, Escalade, etc. It’s a smart decision for this brand to make, despite what Tesla is doing.
This makes me curious about what the "more affordable" future EV Tahoe/Yukon variants of this will be like, given the stratospheric pricing and Jumbotron dashboard setup of the Cadillac.
Good joke. Those will be $80-$100K SUVs too. They'll sell them for as high a price as they can for as long as they can. Not sure when electric cars are supposed to get more affordable than ICE...but sadly, it doesn't seem like anytime soon.
3:01 GM has provided some guidance on this, as the capacity rating depends on whether they are using IEC or ISO rating procedures (this was true as far back as the Chevrolet Bolt EV with the 57 kWh versus 60 kWh debate). Personally, I defer to whatever is displayed in the cabin (which is IEC, I believe), so that would be ~212-213 kWh usable and ~219 kWh gross capacity. The other area where people get confused is when referencing the EPA documentation, but it is important to note that that documentation includes charging losses on 240 VAC charging. That "246 kWh gross capacity" is likely including those charging losses. 240 VAC charging losses are typically ~8-12%, which aligns the difference between 219 kWh gross capacity and 246 kWh of energy required to charge from empty to full on 240 VAC.
I'm glad Cadillac is going massive again, kind of goes with their ethos from their height in '60s and '70s. And I agree the IQL should be just an enormous continent crossing monster! (especially once they are on the Tesla network and they work on the group network reliability)
First to market on this review. Good job. Even if it's "inefficient" by EV standards, it's still highly efficient by gas standards. By the way, one point that you could have explained: how with a longer wheelbase does it have a shorter turning circle? Rear wheel steering?
Probably, since they put it on the Hummer a Cadillac would most probably have it too, especially since all most all BEVs are pretty much body on skateboard now.
I think the pricing is interesting, I don’t know what I was really expecting but double the starting price of a lyriq is a shocker, although you do get double the battery capacity, ride comfort should be better than the Hummer EV. I would call this a winner but I really don’t know

A-MA-ZING!!! I’ve been longing for a large, luxurious, long-range electric SUV for my family of 6! My only concern is the comment about it “not having smartphone integration”. I’m not sure what that means. But, not being able to have podcasts, my own music collection, etc. could be problematic…if that what that means. I LOVE THIS CAR!! Can’t wait!
Cadillac claims 100 miles of range back in just 10mins, but at the best 2.4 miles per kwh rated range? That means the charger is giving you nearly 5kwhs a min with losses. Idk any dc fast chargers in the U.S. outputting that c rate do you Alex? Outside the tesla semi megachargers Pepsi has in Cali anyways. 😀 Also best reviewer of evs out there man. Thank you sincerely for all you do covering evs. 👍🏻😎
This makes me wonder if they can put stone (Like marble or granite) in the dash. I think it would look cool. Also that hood is super high, I love it. For anyone who says the towing does not matter because rich people don't tow trailers- they have RV's and Campers to tow so the tow rating will be important- along with range while towing. I know that in the 60's people would tow their Airstream or other camper with their Cadillac.
It's absolutely gorgeous! Very striking! If this is the Caddy, imagine the Tahoe and Yukon! The trickle down effect will be interesting to see! I think cars/Ev's like these are good to bolster competition, so no car company stays stagnant (although I feel like Toyota and Honda are getting there). And as crazy as this is, by doing this, it will eventually help engineers figure out how to reduce batteries and give longer ranges. You can't figure out all that without starting somewhere. It's crazy to think that a company can jump into the ev game with 500 miles of range. Cell phones took so long to evolve, and were more exclusive.
The battery in this is equivalent to just 6 gallons of gas or 5.5 gallons of diesel. Yet it goes up to 450 miles per full charge. I'd say that equates nicely with about 15 mpg from the gasser on average with a what 30 gallon or so fuel tank? 👍🏻 Weight will come way down as legacy figures it out with the next gen evs. Using structural pack's, castings, integrated motor&inverter unit's etc. Just look at the ford lightning for proof. It weighs less than a rivian r1t and is actually larger. A base pro lightning weighs 400-800# less than a v8 raptor r or ram trx weighs with fuel&fluids in them. And only 300#- more than a crew cab hybrid f-150 with fuel does.
@@4literv6 remember though that range estimate is based on a mixed drive cycle. I think it’s safe to say that pure highway range will dip into the mid to high 300 range (360-380). And while it’s certainly more efficient from an energy use standpoint versus an ICE, there is no hiding the amount of materials needed to achieve that range and performance. Also I believe a base Lightning Pro is a touch heavier than the Raptor R. I think both are around 6k lbs but the Pro is a bit over and the R is a bit under that. And just for reference my F-150 5.0 gets over 20mpg highway, so with the 36 gallon tank can get over 700 miles of real world range (I’m often over 500 miles of range towing my light car hauler setup). Pros and cons to both methods but at this time I don’t think an EV pickup would be able to suit my use case. Like you said hopefully things do improve though.
@@ALMX5DP 36 gallons to only manage 700 miles in its most efficient mode? Kinda pathetic really as each gallon of gas you guzzle down is 33.7kwhs per gallon in total energy burned up. A lightning has less than 3 to less than 4 gallons worth of gas in total onboard energy. Then we gotta find some more oil, drill some more crude oil out of the ground using water energy and chemicals in a giant drill rig. Ship it to a refinery, store it. Refine it burning even more energy using some more water and chemicals. Then ship the refined junk again by truck train or rail, or pump it through massive pipelines using more electrical energy and motors. Just so you and everyone else who love gas can burn it leaving behind noxious fumes&chemicals plus particulate pollution. Yeah let's keep doing that forever. 😏 Vs we mine the materials once then shove em in an ev pack which is used for a decade or more in just the vehicle itself. As ev pack warranties are 8-10yrs depending on the state you live in? Switching to 10yrs after 2025 and 120,000 miles of coverage for all evs. After that the cells can serve again in a ev swapped car or for grid use as reduced capacity isn't as critical there. When it's truely reached the end of its life? We grind em up at 90-95% recovery of the starting point materials rate. So we can make another pack out of em. I know which one I choose. 👍🏻 It's a shame we have so many mis informed people like you in this world. Even worse most are older males other's look up to and listen to. Who are already successful and should be moving the U.S. even FASTER onto evs. Which keep more $ in the us economy and local hands. Every dollar spent on fossil fuel refueling has over .60c go outside the U.S. economy. Vs $1 spent on charging an ev on average sees over .70c stay in the U.S. economy. So evs support local factories, local recyclers, local energy production. And can be easioy refueled daily where we live and work right now. And require less maintenance and less wearable parts over the lifetime use. Seems like a no brainer if your iq is above 100. I ran a service shop here in ATL so don't even start on the maintance bit. I know exactly what it takes to keep an ice car otr as it ages and maintained at a state approved facility vs evs. I haven't done nothing to our 2020 bolt in 3+year's of ownership and 22,000 miles now except 1 set of wiper blades, 1 cabin air filter change and 3 tire rotations. 😎
@@4literv6 it is pathetic efficiency, but it’s the most viable for certain applications like trucks which have to tow. I’m not arguing other points, just providing perspective on what you initially wrote. Feel free to jump off that soapbox and have a discussion on the other aspects if you want but that goes beyond my above response to you.
It won’t need it. It’s not a misstep, apple is now a competitor. Google and Cadillac are more than capable of competing with them. Have you ever used the built in infotainment system in a Escalade or Lyriq?
GM infotainment is actually quite good and has been for years. Easy to navigate, well laid out, bright colourful icons and very good response time, and this was before Google helped them with this new system (Google maps probably integrated as well now, which is really all I used Android Auto for anyway). It may not have Android Auto but GM infotainment integrates with smartphones without it and it works really well for calls/texts and audiobooks/music.
@@patrickdeguzman8594 because there is no point. Leaving it in would only be to coddle customers who feel they can’t live without it and still believe they need it. You have to have confidence in your own product’s tech before anyone else will. I love the direction _Cadillac_ is moving, very bold in both their design language and business decisions, as they should be! The *standard of the world* should not be confined to Apple’s CarPlay or AA. Those systems wouldn’t even do the caliber of displays that we see here any justice.
To date, there have really only been two EVs that capture the heart by being "anti-social". One is the Hummer, the other is the Dodge Charger EV. Make this the third. This thing is fantastically anti-social. To me, it resembles a battleship, and it's sized like one. Frankly, I LOVE it and want one.
This suv will be way way better than the gas version since it has lower center of gravity and more power, more like the holy grail of Escalades, I was talking to my friend about this suv in particular since 2016 and I’m so happy to see American car industry getting better and better because the US deserves to be among best countries in terms of quality and technology, they pioneered car industry in so many times and it’s great to see the US coming back to the game and beat these Chinese competitors. God bless this country and thank you for your review I love your channel and the way you project the information about cars ❤️🫡
This IQ is a mind play on proportions. It doesn't communicate its mass design wise compared to the gas powered model. That is until Alex (6' 2" I believe) stands next to it. Even the Silverado EV looks larger on paper.
Great looking car. Of course, I won’t be able to buy one since it’s out of my price range, like most other EV’s. These higher prices are driving up prices of existing ICE/Diesel vehicles to the point that most people cannot afford a new car. Great technology for those who have the money.
The car … ahhhh… mmmm… it’s ok …. BUT YOU!!! Are looking great! Congratulations 🎈 whatever you are doing is working! I went keto a year ago and lost 45 lbs an d feeling great. Amazing energy levels and everyone says I look twenty years younger! Well done!! 😃
Uh more affordable? The blazer ev costs more than the base Cadillac lyriq ev does. Both on the same platform both with the same battery. I wouldn't expect the gm versions to vary that much, and least not to start with.
Impressive, awesome & gorgeous. It’s a Cadillac - playing it’s proper role. The comments in here about it using too much human & environmental resources or being too nice…..really? What has happened to this country when Americans can no longer appreciate a Cadillac being a Cadillac?
That interior is top-notch, and it's hard to call this a cheap GM product when they're putting out quality like this. It's clear they're stepping up their game.
I want one. For people with large families waiting for a BEV minivan this is the first vehicle capable of doing long road trips. I'm just wary of GM's ability to do the electronics reliably.
Okay, I love this thing. I was thinking about plopping down a deposit until you said the price. I was expecting maybe $10-20k over a normal Escalade, but a $130,000 starting? That's a $50,000 premium over a base Escalade. Look I love the fact that they are building REAL SUV's that happen to be EV's but, that's almost 4x the average American salary. An 84 month payment would be the average home mortgage. Also, not a fan of not having smart phone integration, especially with the nickle and dime schemes of the data plans. Also, with the 3rd row, I'd rather it be optional, or made fully removable. Most people will next to never have anyone back there, so might as well get rid of it and get some range. Overall, beautiful, beautiful vehicle GM...now build one we can afford!
To be fair, this is a luxury product not targeted toward the average American. It’s ridiculous, but clearly there’s enough demand for them to produce this monstrosity.
Saw this in camouflage last week and it did not look as big as the regular escalade. the game changer for this would be the 3rd row. there are many other 2 row SUVs to hit the EV market.
I'm less than 2 minutes into this video, & my primary thought is, "With you standing next to it, look how ridiculously LARGE this vehicle is." Incredibly oversized. I think I've seen BILLBOARDS that are smaller than this monster.
No Apple Carplay or Android Auto will be a deal breaker for some customers. Tesla can do that because their nav system is EV centric and has all the superchargers available. GM doesn't have that yet.
You’ve clearly never used the navigation system in a Cadillac EV. It’s also “nav centric” and they partnered with Google so their entire infotainment experience is actually really good - class leading even. The Tesla network will be added as *gm* will be switching chargers. None of this requires android auto or apple CarPlay. Nobody driving a Escalade or Lyriq will miss it.
@@G-Rated That's fair, I haven't bought a Cadillac since 2013 and that nav was out of date and awful. I have a 2019 Equinox and I have to use Apple CarPlay because the nav is out of date the the "update" they keep trying to sell me is also out of date. Maybe GM has improved.
@@frankcoffey Yes exactly. You’re under the review of the Cadillac Escalade _IQ_ and you’re comparing it’s user experience to the infotainment system in a 5 year old Equinox. There are levels to *gm.* Too many replace the name of the actual brand (Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac) that they’re referring to with the name of the parent company *gm* which competes with everything from Ford Escape to Rolls Royce Spectre, and everything else in between.
This appears to be a strong effort. I wish they had managed to give it another 4" or so of combined legroom. It's tough to settle for 116", which is barely on the upper end of mid-size legroom, in a package of this size.
Agreed, maybe if they come out with an XL version it will be truly mammoth with perhaps at least another 500mm or more, with enough room for even a fold away fourth row. With the skateboard design anything should be possible.
🤩- absolutely a smash hit! Love everything about this and it’s easily going to be the SUV to own. Design and range is incredible. However, I don’t like that Cadillac removed Apple CarPlay- that’s a deal breaker for me
You could build 4 x Tesla Model 3 cars with the resources from one of these 😁 I just don't understand the obsession with large electric cars. These are tanks going down the road, God forbid one of these hits you. Buy small electric cars, that is where the value is
Or 10 Chevy Volts, that's 9 more people who can charge at home or work who will be running around town essentially emissions free (except for a road trip or a really long shopping day). Trying to find a gen 2 Volt at a decent price these days is like trying to find that last hen's tooth. I even after putting 110k km on mine I can sill sell it for more than what I bought it for used years ago. The next closest car in terms of proper limited resource management is essentially sold out, the new Prius Prime. Nothing wrong with Tesla, it would have made no sense for them to develop an ICE division just for the tech to get phased out in a decade. But all the legacy automakers should have jumped on the HEV/PHEV thing, and governments should have mandated they have a 100 km EV range to get a tax credit, or better, a federal/state rebate. (HEVs for folks who can't charge daily and PHEVs for folks that can).
Great video Alex. I'm curious to know if that thin led strip in the middle of the rear taillights is the turn signal and if it's amber. Were you able to find that out? Would be interesting to see if they kept that going or went red like everyone else
This is a common sales technique. Announce something that is awesome, but don't actually sell it. This hope for a cool product stops a customer from buying a competitor. The Lyric and Fiskers both fall into this category. After all this hype they have only shipped a few vehicles. When with this be available in quality at my local dealer? That will be several years.
re: "This is a common sales technique. Announce something that is awesome, but don't actually sell it." welcome to the modern "spin" on the classic scam known as the BAIT AND SWITCH, enjoy.
Its not. At all. Not to mention this will be insanely expensive like the hummer EV, that's if GM can ever get out of its own way and actually produce EVs at scale.
Yeah 9000lbs is the equivalent of my F-150 loaded to the brim with 2000lbs of payload, with my Miata stacked on top of all of that. Completely bonkers.
I see a lot of mistakes in this escalade, and considering the price hike, I think they will suffer in the long term. The gas/diesel yukon denali ultimate is easily the best luxury suv GM has to offer, the gas escalade was already going the wrong direction and this is just doubling down on bad decisions. Hopefully whoever is in charge of the escalade program is promptly removed from their position, but we know that'll never happen. The proportions are awful, its an escalade its supposed to be big and mean and own the road. the specs being smaller on the inside while bigger on the outside, it weighing 50% more, interior has a higher step in height as a unibody, lower ground clearance. That giant screen is going to be a nightmare, it better have a "dark mode" and a whole lot of options for removing background light as the eye strain is going to be rough. To me this is a downgrade across the board from the gas one and I'm sad this is where the future of cars is going. This looks like a blob with some vertical lines. I'd never even guess it was a caddy outside of the front end, honestly I'd guess it was an electric range rover. Actually this whole vehicle feels very LR to me, I wonder if with the price hike thats the intended competition. Its sad because the escalade has always been for a different kind of buyer. I really do wonder what GM is afraid of with all these rash changes. The wagoneer and likely navigator will get their EV versions on converted platforms like the lightning, so why abandon ship on a platform they spent so much to bring up to speed with independent rear suspension and tons of other upgrades. Not including smartphone integration is a huge misplay on their part and I'm sure will be added in later when its complained about. Toyota was forced to put carplay/aa into their cars for competitive reasons and bmw trying to make it a subscription thing got memed on so hard for it they ditched the business model and just integrated it. GM would have to have, quite simply, a better operating system than carplay/AA that integrates into peoples phones better, and with how closed system apple is, will never happen on the iphone side. Only one getting away with this is tesla and its due to the people who would buy elon's shit on a plate if it was tesla branded. Overall I hope this thing flops, I really don't want it to be the future of cars. Maybe the goal is to push people out of wanting to own cars by making them super expensive piles of garbage?
Worry about when it’s competition will be available because there currently isn’t any. *gm* has brought at least 6 out of the 10 _Ultium_ EVs revealed to production. 3 of them now being Cadillacs. Bespoke EVs brand new from the ground up that share nothing with their ICE counterparts. Of course it will take time until production is fully ramped up.
Hold on , ford was the first with Lincoln ... and have you seen the bmw 7 series? Let’s be fair. If anything they’re staying competitive. If you don’t like, go buy a 1999.
@@Natethegreat200c no it was Teslas huge screen in the original model S that made every automaker try to copy or even surpass them in some way to the point of hilarity. Full throttle did a joke where they tape like 20 screens to a windshield to show how ridiculous it’s getting. It’s not competitive it’s stupid. It’s become the “super hero movies” fad of the auto industry
As a person who already owns an EV. I would replace my Escalade (which I use for long drives) with a plug in hybrid with around 60-80 miles of electric only range like the new Range Rover Plug in Hybrid. I think this is a dud and I think cadillac has missed the mark here. This is off my list.
Agreed, GM really needs to bring back the budget Cadillacs, except style them so the younger crowd will actually buy them and they won't be perceived as poppop / nana cars again (no more brown boxes!). They can start with a new Grand National and a Riviera and build the brand from there!
13:25 I think you might be overly conservative here. The Chevy Silverado EV will give us an early indication of how close GM's range estimates are, but based on the Cadillac LYRIQ exceeding its EPA combined range at 70 mph, I would expect the Escalade IQ's highway range to be very close to its combined EPA range estimate (at least under typical conditions).
Thank you Alex for this very informative video - great review. As for this being a vehicle that we need to move people to EVs in general, I think it would very beneficial to do some sort of analysis to determine how many zero emission miles you need to drive this vehicle to make up for the additional greenhouse gasses emitted during the manufacturing of it. For the sake of simplicity I would be willing to assume that the electricity consumed by this vehicle is coming from non-fossil fuel sources (which, of course, won’t be the case in the real world). I ask this not to knock EVs at all, but to just make clear that vehicles of this sort are not helping the climate crisis and shouldn’t be labeled as such.
Long hood increases the frontover issue of 15+ feet of blindspot in front of you. No, drivers can't use the screen to drive forward. Front camera is no compensation for a constant massive blindspot.
These American companies are ruining EVs. They could make a Kia Telluride sized SUV with the same internal volume as the current Escalade, but no, they need to make one that’s the same size on the outside necessitating huge battery pack to move the big and heavy frame. It’s getting to the point these super heavy SUV aren’t more efficient than it’s ICE counterpart and takes 2~3X as long to charge at a super charger station preventing other people from using them
Alex, I take issue with one prediction you have. I think the actual, real-world range is going to be closer to 500 miles. Why? Because the Lyriq easily beat its EPA range in a constant 70 mph test conducted by Tom Mologhney of Inside EVs.
The dimensions are in line with what people expect from a Cadillac Escalade, but we really need to engineer our way out of these ultra heavy EVs. Yes, batteries weigh a lot, but these things are getting downright dangerous to have on public roads. SUVs that weigh as much (or more) as Heavy Duty trucks is a bridge we shouldn't be crossing IMO...not that anyone cares about my opinion 😅
Note that GM placed the charge port on the left rear of the vehicle which is optimal positioning to use a Tesla supercharger. GM previously placed to charge port on the left front. 😂
That " 1000e " badge has a very chinese taste to it as they have been putting a similar badge on their cars as it is the highest number to be found on many of the China market cars. Theirs though only appear on petrol or diesel cars/SUVs & Pickups. And it always ends with a T for ... Turbo!
Good idea, but like other Cadillac projects in the past, if they try and go too far without realistickly looking at the market for which they plan on selling into, their ego will get in the way again clouding their judgment. Pricy while not having all the features that even in the base gas model let alone their competitors have standard.

The gov’t didn’t push cellphones or offer extravagant tax credits.
The battery in this is equivalent to just 6 gallons of gas or 5.5 gallons of diesel. Yet it goes up to 450 miles per full charge.
I'd say that equates nicely with about 15 mpg from the gasser on average with a what 30 gallon or so fuel tank? 👍🏻
Weight will come way down as legacy figures it out with the next gen evs.
Vs we mine the materials once then shove em in an ev pack which is used for a decade or more in just the vehicle itself.
It's a shame we have so many mis informed people like you in this world.
I definitely appreciate this video I didn’t realize how BIG this truck is or that it’s as big as a hummer !!
Incredibly stupid that it won't offer smart phone integration. Huge misstep.
I mean the whole gigantic screen is a google software of its own so I don’t see the point of putting Carplay/ Android Auto on it
@@patrickdeguzman8594 because there is no point.
Yes, yes and yes!👍
This suv will be way way better than the gas version since it has lower center of gravity and more power, more like the holy grail of Escalades, I was talking to my friend about this suv in particular since 2016 and I’m so happy to see American car industry getting better and better because the US deserves to be among best countries in terms of quality and technology, they pioneered car industry in so many times and it’s great to see the US coming back to the game and beat these Chinese competitors. God bless this country and thank you for your review I love your channel and the way you project the information about cars ❤️🫡
Chrysler used to be the engineering company, that they did was incredible and it is sad where they are now.
Lol, nationalist much there bro?
@@sprockkets honestly yes 😂
@@djplonghead5403 true, but I believe they will make a big comeback one day 🤝
This IQ is a mind play on proportions.
Cars haven’t gotten that bad. You can buy a Camry or rav for 30k. What are you wanting that’s so out of control
Well done!! 😃
😍 Im excited about this because its a preview of what we can expect from the more affordable Tahoe/Yukon.
Uh more affordable? The blazer ev costs more than the base Cadillac lyriq ev does. Both on the same platform both with the same battery.
I wouldn't expect the gm versions to vary that much, and least not to start with.
Lots of parts sharing with Lyriq. but Price is double $130,000 . interior is amazing... all screens.
I was like the damn the cargo area is kinda small, but I see where the rest of it went.
Big Truck Series has to buy it, we’ll all be waiting for it
This is a winner all the way around great job Cadillac I want one
Thanks for the corrections Alex
Impressive, awesome & gorgeous. It’s a Cadillac - playing it’s proper role. The comments in here about it using too much human & environmental resources or being too nice…..really? What has happened to this country when Americans can no longer appreciate a Cadillac being a Cadillac?
Always doubted that we could save the planet with electric vehicles. Caddy is just confirming.
This is gonna be a big hit with the Drug Dealing Community!
And the Banker Gangsters that launder their ill begotten gains!
Its gorgeous, luxurious, humongous, and wasteful. 😮 wealthy Escalade buyers will absolutely love it. I still want an ICE Escalade V.....
I love it, way to go Cadillac!
That is a winner all around. Large, elegant. Winner.
A true Cadillac
That interior truly looks world class
You can’t say this is a cheap GM product when GM is producing quality products like this
I mean GM has always been looks expensive feels cheap. I’d reserve my opinions until it enters production and gets into consumer hands.
Your second sentence makes no sense.
Hopefully, the refresh gas Escalade gets some of the interior bits and features from the IQ.
That interior is top-notch, and it's hard to call this a cheap GM product when they're putting out quality like this. It's clear they're stepping up their game.
@@AutomotiveWoman bruh you weren't even invited to see it in real life. Almost all automotive manufacturers can make cheap plastic look expensive.
When you couldn't think they would make bigger cars, they still do
@@edwink1467 And there is the rub, the non average American is sadly ridiculous
The front-end is gonna be hard to get used to. But the rest of the design was better than what they've achieved with the Lyriq.
Looks a little strange in video, but I bet it looks amazing in person!
I will be keeping my 2018 Escalade.
No Apple Carplay or Android Auto will be a deal breaker for some customers. Tesla can do that because their nav system is EV centric and has all the superchargers available. GM doesn't have that yet.
Especially since their competitors still offer CarPlay and Android Auto.
There are levels to *gm.*
Too many replace the name of the actual brand (Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac) that they’re referring to with the name of the parent company *gm* which competes with everything from Ford Escape to Rolls Royce Spectre, and everything else in between.
@@G-Rated GM advertised both cars as having OTA upgrades but none were ever offered.
I just laugh at reviewers trying to say 100-130 k for a car is reasonable. In 3 years you can buy this for 50k
🤩- absolutely a smash hit! Love everything about this and it’s easily going to be the SUV to own. Design and range is incredible. However, I don’t like that Cadillac removed Apple CarPlay- that’s a deal breaker for me
You could build 4 x Tesla Model 3 cars with the resources from one of these 😁
I just don't understand the obsession with large electric cars.
This is the most anti-EV EV. Its mocking carbon footprint haters. You don't roll coal with this, you profligate electrons.
Great video Alex. I'm curious to know if that thin led strip in the middle of the rear taillights is the turn signal and if it's amber. Were you able to find that out? Would be interesting to see if they kept that going or went red like everyone else
There are amber turn signals on many vehicles.
When are we getting more Outlander PHEV videos? Full range (gas/electric), off roading/trail, removal of 3rd row, etc.
They are going to sell a ton of these. I see the new Escalades all the time. It be the Platinum ones at that.
re: "This is a common sales technique. Announce something that is awesome, but don't actually sell it." welcome to the modern "spin" on the classic scam known as the BAIT AND SWITCH, enjoy.
130k dollars starting: Well, the silver lining is this tech will trickle down into other models at some point so at least there's that.

I do not like Cadillac in general, but I think I would really like this thing
9000 lbs? How is this environmenally friendly?
Its not.
It's all electric, no gas. Did you miss that part?
@@6ec6YRFPTcC so we should all upsize our homes, is that what you're saying? Bigger = more green?
IDK. It’s just not big enough. How are the ballers going to represent? /s
Maybe the goal is to push people out of wanting to own cars by making them super expensive piles of garbage?
yukon has always been just as nice as the escalade, just different style. the escalade is aimed at people who want "bling".
Great looking 🎉
You look tiny next to that beautiful Caddy 😮😊
”Coming out realistically in 2030, preorder now!”
SCREENS!! MORE SCREENS!! its getting ridiculous at this point. GM always overdoes it.
Hold on , ford was the first with Lincoln ... and have you seen the bmw 7 series? Let’s be fair. If anything they’re staying competitive. If you don’t like, go buy a 1999.
Yep, the Screen Thing is get out of Hand...
@@Natethegreat200c no it was Teslas huge screen in the original model S that made every automaker try to copy or even surpass them in some way to the point of hilarity.
And they will have a 100 of these available each month.
Jeep is working on the yet to be named Wagoneer S. That’s a full EV set to compete with this.
Finally a gm product i like... Look better than the gas version.... 💪🏾
Good drop Alex! GM pushing out some real gems recently!
Seems like the 3rd row should be at least as large as the ICE versions, unless the vast majority of actual owners don’t want or use that space.
I think this platform warrants a Buick Roadmaster variant.
Agreed, GM really needs to bring back the budget Cadillacs, except style them so the younger crowd will actually buy them and they won't be perceived as poppop / nana cars again (no more brown boxes!). They can start with a new Grand National and a Riviera and build the brand from there!
450 miles of range is not too bad but I’m looking forward to 1000 miles of range.
This is really a monster truck.
너무 긴 것이 판매 시장규모를 제한하는 자충수가 될 듯. ..
5:32 250kw of batteries and they give you a 400 watt inverter 😀
There was a number that you need to drive 20k clean miles just to off set the carbon emission done to manufacture the ev

Estimated to be 9000 lbs. Crazy.
Now my SUV to buy!
Off topic but @Alex what do you think is the best reliable luxury sedan today? I'm looking for a new family daily.
Note that GM placed the charge port on the left rear of the vehicle which is optimal positioning to use a Tesla supercharger. GM previously placed to charge port on the left front. 😂
12:59 Is that license plate some sort of Easter egg? Is the Escalade IQ going to be a direct-from factory order only?
That " 1000e " badge has a very chinese taste to it as they have been putting a similar badge on their cars as it is the highest number to be found on many of the China market cars. Theirs though only appear on petrol or diesel cars/SUVs & Pickups. And it always ends with a T for ... Turbo!
Good idea, but like other Cadillac projects in the past, if they try and go too far without realistickly looking at the market for which they plan on selling into, their ego will get in the way again clouding their judgment. Pricy while not having all the features that even in the base gas model let alone their competitors have standard.
You would think it would have an on board 4K Blu-ray player.
What is the color is that the summit white or one of the other colors?
Is really nice but I still prefer the look of the current gas version of the Escalade
