Personally if I did this game, I'd have I HATE YOU take place first cuz of Luigi's death, then the MARIO ROM hack remake being Mario's guilt over killing his brother and the world painting his image in a negative light because of it, before MARIO WORLD is finally used as the endless purgatory Mario suffers through thanks to Luigi.
I think maybe the game's events take place out of order. Like maybe the Super Mario World title losing a few words from it represents the order of events.

The out of order idea could be confusing to the lore, though. A player could interpret the order the wrong way
I love his art style, it’s raw and horrid. The gameplay is cool, it’s that feeling of getting that abandoned snes cartridge you bought at that garage sale long time ago, and forgot about it. I’m just a huge fan of the art style really. Been seeing his works with some of the Sonic fan games. Please keep it up!

If I'm being honest, I think the "I hate you" formula (which is what seemed like what was most represented in this game with MARIO parts sprinkled throughout it) is better if it was not represented as sort of an "exe" game. I know this sounds ridiculous considering there's already an exe version of the original creepypasta along with the ROM but..I think it has more impact when you really take the time to digest WHAT'S going on in the story. It might seem cheesy but...I think that luigi getting what he deserved after fighting against his own brother and burning in the lava is genuinely terrifying. I think maybe, with the right stuff, this game could be much better. But as is, it seems like its just trying to be "I hate you: PC PORT" which works but I think it could be better.
HOWEVER, with that said, I like how the mixture of MARIO and I hate you in this come together to tell a story. Mario goes through a very empty looking world of the first levels of Mario World and then sees luigi has turned on him after the bowser cave starts bleeding from the eyes (which I always thought to be kinda cheap considering it follows the "exe formula" but regardless). He confronts luigi and kills him. However, I don't think this was supposed to be an accident. I say this because after he dies, the ending screen shows mario looking happy before looking somewhat annoyed at peach when she's crying her eyes out (presumably in grief from the death of luigi). What I can assume from the "grey pipe room" is mario losing his sanity. When he enters the "flesh covered" pipe, I assume this is symbolically him snapping. With that final part however...I think it's kind of up to interpretation what happens. To me anyways, I think him swimming to the...fleshy cobweb thing is supposed to either represent him swimming into hell or him swimming into his now destroyed mind. And that final screenshot, I think, is supposed to be what now remains of mario after presumably killing peach and probably other members of the mushroom kingdom. However, that's just my theory. It's...hard to make one out of what happens in this game because the timeline of events that happen after luigi's death don't really make any sense (especially with that flesh pipe and all.) However, I will admit that this game has serious potential and I think it could be something much better but with what it shows, I think it does a great job at mixing different creepypastas into one game.
My real complaint is how the aspects of the story are just in the game without the player's input like gaining invincibility from doing nothing to kill the Banzai Bill.
Rather than the strategic use of a cheat engime it was in the original story.
How about doing that?
Actually playing into the original story and have the player find ways to bypass Luigi's obstacles, such as using a cheat engine to get that feeling of finding something that the developers hide away, that they shouldn't be finding.
My only question is: Who's Victim #1 representing in this retake? Peach?

It's not shown imo so it's not entirely clear. I guess if you REALLY wanted to find the victim I'd say it's probably peach but we never see her die (yet maybe), I guess the only other option we have is luigi..@@derthevaporeon

I thought at first it was the princess then I realized... the skull shape doesn't match
I think it's the very cryptic "up to interpretation" sort of horror element. I'd say it looks like the remains of Mario's victims he's keeping in his home, just a bunch of flesh. The "Honey, I'm home" message could be Peach or his mother walking in. And the final jumpscare could represent her fate.
If I'm not mistaken the creator had a similar thing at the end of his Sonic.EXE game

that remake of the I HATE YOU end image is genuinely jarring, good god. I really like the Victim #1 image (though i still slightly prefer the original) due to the general sketchy-ness of the artstyle. Though i def feel like the pacing could've been better.

I get that this game is supposed to be a disturbance fest more than anything else but here's my interpretation of it:
Mario suffers from hallucinations that Luigi is out there to get him -> Mario starts having uncontrollable urges and BRUTALLY muders one of the koopalings (most likely Wendy or Iggy) in their own fortress -> Bowser gives up on Peach and teams up with Luigi to avenge his lost child -> Bowser sets a trap to Mario and leaves the job to Luigi to take his brother out -> Mario wins the fight Mortal Kombat fatality style -> Peach is grieving over the death of Luigi -> Mario is seen in the some pipe place (perhaps the sewers) and enters the bloody one taking him to his home -> Mario walks over the flesh of the hundred of his victims he kept inside his house -> Peach, another love interest (maybe Pauline) or his mother walks in and says : "Honey, I'm home" -> Mario BRUTALLY murders her -> the end

Not to judge on his creation, it had flaws on attempting to recreate SMW into a Horror Game from ClickTeam. As I was saying you can tell while downloading, there are a bit of mistakes and bugs here and there.
This game should’ve been a ROM hack instead. Looks unfinished.
