Mario is fearless: nothing fazes him. Lava, ghosts, bottomless pits, not even King Bowser himself.
Luigi is Brave: he's *very* afraid, but overcomes that continues on anyway because he knows his brother might need backup.
so while he's seen as the "weaker" brother, in many ways, he's just as strong.
I like how Mario goes through a whole arc through this from being someone who barely cares about his bro to being the best duo

And after rescuing Mario, the reason he went on vacation without luigi was because he either wanted to have a romantic trip with peach alone or maybe he left luigi in charge to protect the mushroom kingdom because he’s brave enough after facing his fears to rescue his bro through a haunted mansion.

I was really expecting Mario to say "Aren't I done yet" during the part where every door turns into a boo and goes flying away. My favourite bit was when Luigi felt bad for Yoshi, so he gave him a berry, but then the door closed.
Edit: Actually it was when mario dropped the apples and had en emotional flashback to when Luigi gave him the berries right in the middle of fighting that stoopid dragon!
