I remember from some interview Dr. Boom's Scheme was changed last minute, hence the weird flavour of it.
If I had to take a guess, probably Shuffle x Bombs into your opponents deck which would be bonkers.

3:55 I actually used this card as a proxy doomsayer in elemental mage that also had tempo. Won quite a few games.
Some of these cards your being overly critical on, they have more value than your giving them. Like anomalous. You have to compare them to the other cards that were around at the time. And theres plenty of examples of cards that could have been strong if people had figured out how to use them, but the meta being what it is, very few creative players that wanna take the time to test and refine a deck to make it work when its not the best win rate deck even at its best potential, which is most decks. Technically its all decks depending on what point in time with what other cards are being played.
6:58 similarly this card was also played in some less popular but high tier high win rate spell druid decks. I remember losing to that card one game against a late game deck with big minions, and it really pissed me off, in part because it caught me off guard being that it was bad in most decks, but great in that late game combo druid deck.
7:09 theres also the 7/8 ogre guy that makes all characters attack a random character. Some hearthstone youtube guy made a video about it. forget who it was.
10:47 I built a warlock deck AND control warrior deck around this card that got me to legend (the warrior deck was the better of the two, 60ish % win rate at the time)... im done watching

I believe there is a difference between "not taking damage" and "being immune".
Let me explain, basically when the hero is immune you can't target it with most spells or attacks including freezing and I believe it's the crucial point. I think that you could theoretically target your own hero with for example "Ice lance", you would obviously not take any damage but you would become frozen.
However, if your hero is immune, you can't target it with ice lance, can you ? (Idk the answer but I think so).
Of course this would never happen, but maybe if you attack a water elemental that could make a difference.
What are your thoughts on this Solem and the community ?

  • @JustDalton

I think immune is fundamentally different than can’t take damage. Some things (Bombs, Bloods, etc) can bypass some mechanics (like not triggering Ice Block).

There's a card with no effect that got run in a ton of decks because it had good stats for the cost.
    Nightmare Amalgam.
Don't diss effect-less cards. Sometimes, all your deck needs is a Yeti. On turn 1 as a Druid :P

They said in an interview they worded Blur that way because of flavor. Demon hunters are not tanky or absorb everything like "immune" would imply, but they are rather mobile and dodge or evade attacks.

Summoning Stone definitely isn't the worst card in LoE IMO. Sure, it's a meme, but Cursed Blade is just so much worse, both as a card and as a meme. Especially back in the day when Fiery War Axe was only 2 mana, Cursed Blade was really bad. Now Fiery War Axe costs 3, and Cursed Blade is still really bad. Win rates with Cursed Blade are literally you win when you do not play Cursed Blade. Worst card.

11:36 pretty sure you cant target enemy immune stuff. maybe blur is different because you can target, it just nullifies the damage? can probably test it using unseen saboteur

Maybe immune characters can't be targeted by effects while a "can't take damage" can? For example when blur would be cast by saboteur? That would be what the text implies, but I'm too lazy to test it myslef

Funnily enough, I actually run Scavenging Shivarra in Quest Shaman. When playing basically nothing but battlecry minions in standard, there is little in the way of aoe board control. The 2 mana 2/2 elemental is definitely better, but Shivarra acts as a secondary emergency removal option. On turn 6, you can drop it down and generally either clear the board entirely or at least wipe out a couple tokens. On turn 8 and beyond with the upgraded hero power, 12 damage is no joke. Saved my butt many times, that card.
But yeah, not the best card. It especially looks bad when comparing it to the DH card that does the same effect, but every single turn (and has better stats...). It definitely isn't the worst card of that expansion, though. Now Harbinger Celestia... that's a bad card.

Blur grants immune despite not saying it, but if it didn't then the difference would be: your opponent could target your hero during that turn (which only matters for very esoteric interactions like scroll of wonders or them pulling blur during their turn with saboteur).
You know what I don't like about the "secret deathrattle" mechanic the egg and fateweaver have? It doesn't work most of the time. You just hover over the opponent's card and see "secret deathrattle: deal 3 damage to all minions". Blizzard, why implement the card if you're not gonna finish coding it before release?

But I'm sure the deck would have been stronger without it, although certainly not as fun!

Poisoned Blade was in Standard at the same time as pre-nerf 1 mana Spirit Claws. Let's compare these 2:
    - 4 mana for 1/3 weapon. Pay 2 mana to upgrade it to 2/3.
    - 1 mana for 1/3 weapon. Pay 2 mana to upgrade it to 3/3 AND get a free spellpower totem. Or play Thalnos.

Alright. I actually think moroes is good for some decks. For example in token Druid if your opponent doesn’t AOE him out, he generates infinite value in trading and giving you new bodies to buff. I just feel like the payoff is so high in certain decks that it’s worth the risk. But most AOE would kill most 3 drops anyways so it’s not even that risky

Anomalus actually isn't terrible in Reno Mage as a board clear post Frost Lich Jaina. In a slower control pocket meta, it can clear big boards and heals you to full because of the lifesteal on it's deathrattle.

I think there might be a situation where the card text from Blur matters:
Imagine a Paladin v Hunter match. The Hunter has a Misdirect, and the Pala has the only minion on the field. Now the Pala plays Timeout, and then goes face with their minion. I think Misdirect won't trigger because being immune also makes the Pala untargetable. This means theres no valid target for the Misdirect, making it no trigger.
The same situation with a DH playing Blur would trigger the secret from the Minion attack I'd imagine, but the DH would take no damage, obviously.
I might be very wrong about this, I'm just going off of the wording here and the implications that make sense to me.

I am not sure about that? Yes immune prevents targeting but immune minions/targets can be hit by random effects like Arcane Missiles (which can sometimes matter) and they can also be destroyed by things like Deadly Shot so I am not sure if it would even prevent misdirection

I think call pet is actually worse than Hemet, specifically because it's poorly designed. For you too get full benefit of it you need to play two of them and beasts, but that doesn't work obviously, and not only that, sometimes you just draw the other call pet, thus negating it's perceived benefit. I'd literally rather have a Hemet

I feel like unlicensed apothecary (3 mana 5/5 - deal 5 damage to your hero whenever you summon a minion) is worse than blubber baron. At least if I summon a random blubber baron I'm not at risk of taking a load of self damage because I can't kill it off.

  • @Creativeboysfilms

New players will not understand what Immune is, and since Blur is a basic card, it would be more fitting to use “can’t take damage” instead of Immune in order to make new players understand the card.

What's even more unacceptable is that many of these terrible cards are epics and legendaries. Card rarity is supposed to correlate with how useful the card actually is. Cards like Blubber Baron, Poisoned Blade, Bestial Wrath, and EMP Operative have ABSOLUTELY no freaking reason to be epic. I get it that some commons and even rares are pack fillers, but to add epic and legendary pack fillers is infuriating.
Fun fact: Bestial Wrath is SO bad that it doesn't even protect your minion from "destroy a minion" effects, only direct damage (which literally makes no sense). I once played Bestial Wrath on a Huffer in Arena to kill a Convincing infiltrator and my Huffer still died. I guess Blizzard needs to look up on the dictionary what the tern "immune" means.
