@MrDarkjohn Great question. Anytime you use turntables and dj software you will need timecode vinyl. The leading DVS or digital vinyl systems on the market like Serato Scratch Live and Traktor Scratch Pro or Duo will include the timecode vinyls when you purchase them. M-Audio Torq also uses proprietary timecode vinyl so the mp3s on your laptop can be played and manipulated. I hope this helps!

Do you mean Algoriddim's djay app?
If so I am not sure about Typhoon support but the Vestax Spin has many of the same functions as the Typhoon and was designed specifically for Algoriddim djay.

  • @uniquesquared

If you are talking about Serato Intro then the Mixtrack Pro does but not the Mixtrack. Intro only works with controllers with integrated soundcards. Serato Pro however will work with the Mixtrack and Mixtrack Pro.

The Numark Mixtrack Pro 2 has some nice improvements over the Numark Mixtrack Pro. If you are already leaning towards the Mixtrack Pro I would recommend going with version 2.
You can find both DJ controllers as well as a lot of other gear on the UniqueSquared website. Click the links in the description below the video for more information.

@NICKYMIXDJ Are you using Traktor or Virtual DJ? The Mixtrack Pro and Vestax Typhoon can use both and they are our best sellers in that price range.

Finally!, someone knows how to review controllers and touch on the details we really care about instead of just talking about the layout as if we're all blind.
    Scott you're a hero,

Great video, exactly what I was looking for. I'm trying to choose between the Vestax Typhoon and the iMix Reload. Have you used the latter? The only thing stopping me getting the Vestax straight away is the lack of cue buttons, which I (correct me if I'm wrong) think are quite important for beat juggling. I also noticed how you didn't mention the prices of the controllers. WHich is the best value for money in your opinion? Cheers!

im a dj of 13 years and just going digital ,
ive been recommended the mixtrack pro because of the easy setup , and use
but do you think i will out grow it very quickly? as the other option is to just save up for the s4..
also if moving to the s4 which will provide the easiest transition if i was to get an entry level one for now ( it would be sold to a beginner friend when getting s4)
    thanks

    Hi Unique Squared.
I was just checking your website, and I wanted to know which controller is the best between:
Numark Mixtrack Pro and Behringer CMD Studio 4A.
I noticed that the Behringer CMD has more Hot Cue's which I really like (but is 8 really needed). Also I heard that the Mixtrack Pro have Touch on the jogwheels for scratching... Is this correct?
And in the end, which is the best in general. Best software, Jogwheel feeling, effects (VDJ might decide that) and which has the best feel?

The Numark Mixtrack has EQ kills, the Numark Mixtrack Pro has hot cues. Sometimes different continents get shipped different software packages. For instance if you bought your Mixtrack Pro in Europe or Asia then it is likely that Traktor LE was shipped with the unit.

  • @uniquesquared

@dpdilla Thanks for the question. I lean heavily toward the Mixtrack Pro and the Typhoon of the three, but the Mixtrack Pro has been our most popular and it is very easily mapped for VDJ and Traktor. The Typhoon, however is most comfortable for the style in which I play which is more controllerist and quick mixing. I hope this helps.

The QuNeo is a solid controller for any level of skill. The real power of QuNeo comes from its integration with Ableton but it can be mapped to any MIDI mappable software. If you are looking to go the traditional DJ route, then consider the Numark Mixtrack Pro.
We have both for great price on the UniqueSquared website.

I have been a dj for over 10 years. So I started on vinyl, then mover to serato scratch but still using my tables. Now after resisting for as long as I could I am thinking of getting a controller,Of course I'd love the NI s4 or even the S2, but I don't have cash like that to drop. Do you have any recommendations in a 300$ range.

  • @uniquesquared

The Vestax Typhoon as well as other DJ controllers do not make sounds themselves but play tracks for you to mix and add FX to. If you are looking to make that particular sound you should look into production and at programs like Massive from Native Instruments.

It's fine to count in any increment of 4, but musically it might make more sense to mix in 8 or 16's. For instance, if you count a verse or chorus, it usually repeats after 8 or 16, and if you are mixing harmonically and by phrasing this would be more suitable. I hope this helps!

    I have a question about KeyLock .
I know Mixtrack Pro has a dedicated button for it and I don't think Typhoon has one.
For me that feels like a major shortcoming, though I like the compact and not-so-cheap look and feel of the typhoon .
