the entire purpose of the mp3 compression format is that they scientifically located frequency bands that we won't perceive to be missing. so most people won't hear the difference. it was designed to be that way. side by side? sure. but most people might still struggle.
I like using Spotify mainly because of the equalizer they have on the app. You can really up the bass on it and it makes the bass line pop, not to mention the drums and the guitars. You just have to have a keen ear to find that sweet spot for the type of music you’re listening to.
I'm one of those people who are waiting for the ultimate edition to come and I am so excited to get it :D Can't wait to try and learn the songs from the tab book, so many great tunes to help boost my guitar chops!
Makes sense re: demonetization. They should do something like MixCloud does for DJs, where you have to include a tracklist with your mixes so that the artists can all get compensated for the music they're making that are in the DJ mixes.
That devin townsend guitar sounds killer, although it would sound better if it had his signature fishman set. would love to see a video of you upgrading the guitar to have devin's signature fishmans. perhaps maybe even demoing the dt fishmans as well
Maybe it’s just placebo but I do find the bass better with lossless and hd with the new Apple options, I do listen on monitor speakers with a sub though, can’t notice a difference with AirPods, spatial audio is cool but will come into its own once they enable the head tracking later in the year

I find the sound quality is usually terrible - it sounds so much thinner and the volume is sooooooooo low I usually have to max out my speakers to get a decent volume. Also, loving the t-shirt XD
The buzz going around last week was that Kirk Hammett used a Peavey Bandit 65 on some tracks on the first Metallica. record. The old Plexis sound great but they definitely have no serious bite. To use the modern vernacular they don't chug. If you blend them with the Peavey you get a killer attack and really fat but tight lows. The bottom line is I scooped one up in mint condition for only $260.00 USD. Hell I already have a Plexi LOL

I think Vogg has made a huge difference for machine head. He plays 5150s almost strictly for decapitated. Plus on another note ibanez is re-releasing the Ice man and XPTB620

This makes me so sad! Every time I see and hear you play at the start of a SWOLA (or anything else, really), I get so inspired to try and learn. I hear and see each picked note, and play the riff over in my head randomly when driving around town. And then I pick up my one guitar and immensely fail and sulk into a depressive pile of sadface. I'm in my 40's, and I love the metal. All I've got is a Fender Bullet and a DigiTech Death Metal pedal. No clue how to use any software to play thru PC. Where do you recommend a really casual player to actually start learning on their own?
Dude, just don't pressure yourself too much, try and play your favorite songs and jam... the rest can come later, but just remember to try and have fun.

About the lossless audio, you are right. I do mixing and have good set of monitors and I can not here any difference in the sound. If you go down in bitrate from 320 to 128 in mp3 then you can here some difference. But if you lsiten to *Spotify or apple music you are not gonna hear any difference with airpods or bluetoth sperakers.

Can you hear the difference between lossless and lossy? Trivial to check. Get the same sound in lossless and lossy, substracts them in audacity or other audio editing software and see at what volume you can hear anything of the result.
