Kirk himself has said he's not leaving ESP & will work with both brands. ESP will keep making his metal guitars with the great artwork he loves & Gibson will do Gibson/Epiphone things like versions of Greeny & his Black 70s Flying V. No Krammer as that's ESP wheelhouse.
@Halli Day Hits maybe but remember all of Metallica's best music was made with pre esp guitars which he didn't start using until 1987. He was known for modding his guitars tho so very few of his non ESPs are standard guitars. Which is probably why he's staying with them too.
@@snakeplissken6649 Agreed. I've bought a Gibson V just to mod like the one he had. It was faded blackish. I repainted it to high gloss black n changed the electronics plus EMG's, new chrome tuners n pickguard- truss rod cover. Both him and James used modded Gibsons. So yea, ESP equals sellout years while vs Gibson Legacy Years
@@Cthulhu_Awaken Yep still is but Kramer makes ESP style guitars so since they're keeping that all with ESP they are only making Gibson & Epiphone guitars.
The ESPs are his workhorse stage guitars all speced out with Floyd's and EMGs etc. Kirk and James use all kinds of guitars and gear to record. I don't think we're gonna see a Kirk Hammett Gibson that looks anything like his ESP signatures. I'm expecting Vs, LPs etc. I also expect him use some Gibson's on stage. Well Ola, you could have a video series based around tuning in all the sounds of metal starting with Black Sabbath, and then every genre that came after that, like The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Groove Metal, Hardcore, Death Metal, and you could play riffs from each era in the specific defining tone of that genre. Just a thought man. Take Care Ola.
Tunings don't mean anything other than to sync up with what key the singer plays in. You don't write music to fit a tuning, you write music to fit what key your vocalist is in.
@@WardenOfTerra I was speaking about the different tonality in each genre of Metal. So, when I spoke of tuning, I meant amps and pedals, and of course guitars. I don't really know how two people could've misunderstood, what I wrote, because I'm an impeccably literal guy. So, yeah. If you've ever tuned an amp, then you get what I'm saying. My Valveking can either be a full fledged METAL amp, or a Blues Rock amp, a Blues Amp, a modern Metalcore Amp, and so on. That's ok though, we all see and perceive things differently. No problem man. Take Care.
Kirk gets dragged by players a lot. I think he’s important to the overall chemistry of that band. You need one “nice-guy” to balance out Jame’s & Larz’ various neurosis. Sure, there are better players, but I don’t think he deserves the ass-kicking he gets from bedroom-guys.
Yeah i remember watching an interview he did with Ernie Ball talking about strings he says that he wrote the main riff for Creeping Death when he was 16. How many 16 year olds will have had that kind of impact on metal music?
His solos on the classic albums are absolutely fantastic too. The issue is along with obviously Lars who has the same problem is that he obviously doesn't practice much anymore. So his playing since the 00s has got lazy, sloppy and uninspiring.
Kirk Hammett, imo, the most suited guitar player for Metallica. Sure, there are thousand people that play better than him, but you can't deny his playing in Metallica fits really well. The bluesy lick, pentatonic and sometimes Phrygian Dominant on some certain tracks. He is just the best for me.
I would trade great songs for technique..EVERY DAY.Sure we should be progressive technically but take a sec and ponder Johnny Ramone or Mick Mars or even Kurt Cobain. It'd be nice to have my solos loved but I and WE should write shred level SONGS and play for fans not ourselves.
I love the new DT song. Manginis best performance since he joined the band 10 years ago. Petruccis guitar tone is sent from heaven, especially his lead tone. Holy sweet mother of god. Brings back memories from the 90´s!
Hey Ola! Thank you so much for checking out my submission and showing it in the video! I had so much fun making it and look forward to continuing to contribute! Hopefully the weird sound wasn’t actually on my end, but either way I’ll try to keep improving! Thank you again, so much!
So after years of putting it off, I finally bought my first guitar and amp to start learning how to play! It's a PRS SE Custom 24 and an Orange Crush 35RT (Your vid on the 20RT influenced me on that one). I've spent so much time watching your videos that it really pushed me to want to start, thank you! Now I have to wait until Thursday for my stuff to be delivered. Honestly can't wait lol
Good luck man! It’ll be hard at times but stick to it and it’ll be so rewarding. There’s nothing more satisfying than playing along with your favorite songs
You couldn't have picked better gear to get started. If you can manage private instruction, do it. I've met many amazing guitar players that are self taught but having someone show you techniques for practice, which is not the most exciting use of your time in the begining, will pay off in the future. Also having counter point from an instructor will broaden the spectrum of influence and make you more versatile which means you become more desirable to more bands. If it's something you really felt captivated by and have determination you can excell beyond a lazy fucker like myself who might have picked it up quickly. I was completely enthralled by music and was making guitars from my Constructs(like a plastic tinker toy or erector set we had in the 80's) and from cardboard and shit like that. My Dad happened to have a guitar and amp he had since middle school that he didn't really take to. I received it at age nine and it's the only thing I've ever really been good at or gave me something I was able to hold onto when things have gotten dark that I could use to both create and build or to exorcise and destroy. Music has incredible power of influence as an art form but is satisfying personally even if you never showcase it to anyone else. Good luck.

Ola Video Idea: Dialing in guitar tones of your favorite guitar players. Ola, you have a very good ear and I think it would be cool if you did a video where you start from scratch and dial in a specific Dimebag guitar tone (example: Floods solo guitar tone). You could poll RUclips for which guitar tone people want next. I'm sure you'll get a flood of comments asking for various guitar tones. I for one would love to see how you'd dial in the guitar tone for the "Lines in The Sand" solo. I know it'll be impossible to get the exact tone, but it'd be nice know what you hear in terms of gain, EQ, reverb, delay, etc.
Do a Making Of a specific solar guitar model. Continue coffee with Ola and please have Bernth (check out his amazing channel!) and other metal/shred teaching youtubers to have a coffee. Big love to Pix!
I would like to see a video that shows your beginnings in metal, your first bands, the evolution of your beginnings until today and what you have achieved thanks to your effort, example your solar company and be recognized as a great guitarist. I imagine that you have photos and videos of those times to do something entertaining, besides being an approach for those people who think that you can not ... greetings and great channel man ...
You should make buget/beginner videos like affordable guitar and amp setups and review cheap guitars like the jackson js22 and stuff but great vids man (you should review the jim root guitars)
Maybe trying weird guitar stuff and taking us along for the ride, whether good or terrible. Like, see if you can blend two amps that are very opposed to each other to try and achieve a new sound that's awesome, or at least has a new flavor, kinda like the laney/valve state combo that they did for in flames or 5150/valvestate, things like that. Making a song that has only wammy barred notes? (Having to guess where the notes are, and if they're not the right notes, bend them to where they sound cool.) Idk. I know it's hard to come up with ideas. And these could easily be too intensive.
Might be difficult at this point in time, but what about "factory tours" Basically an in depth look at how some of the amazing gear out there is made. Interviews with the makers/owners would be cool as an alternate option. maybe have them send some footage of their work space.
i´d love to see more coffee with ola. you can just do it via video call. you gotta do one with matt heafy. jim root and mick thomson would be awesome, too. they are all very into gear.
That's nonsense. Kirk has a genuine passion for Gibson and has been playing them for decades on stage and in the studio. Dave is just hopping from one endorser to the next as usual, and will most certainly have them build another grey flying V with that weird V-shaped string holder thingy on it - but this time it's gonna say Gibson on the headstock instead of Jackson/ESP/Dean.
School summer vacation in Sweden seems pretty standard. In the US, most places, school is out sometime in early June and returns first week of September…
What about revisiting Feared, The Haunted or Scarpoint stuff ? You could pick songs that are/were significant and telling stories about the process of making them at that time. A kind of serie as My Guitar or your lately release of revisiting old amps.
Hey Ola!! You can start a riff writing series! Like your go-to ways to write riffs! Some tutorials. Techniques, tunings song writing ideas, or anything relevant!! Your riffs are always sick 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Hi Ola, a suggestion for future topic. Since headless guitars are more popular/practical than ever how about a comparison between the top builders Kiesel, Strandberg, Mayones, Skervesen, ect.... It would help potential 1st time buyers of a headless make a more educated decision if they could see side by side the differences or similarities, build quality and options, but most of all tone. Thank you for all your hard work and sharing your ideas, your channel is inspiring.
My favorite is always the gear reviews and going through settings on floor processors. I really value your opinions on things like the Fractal processors, Boss GT1000, etc.
Now if Gibson could get the great Michael Schenker as an artist that would be awesome! He is rock royalty and deserves to be a Gibson signature artist.
Schenker is God and has sold thousands of Vs for Gibson. He above all others is probably the most responsible for the resurgence of the Flying V. He deserves a sig model for sure.
I own the Jackson Jeff Loomis Pro, and oh my God, it is AMAZING. The one thing I used to hate but now I love is how the pickup covers fade/discolor really easy based on how you play. Makes it unique!
I would love to see some more mixing/tracking/recording content. I know you're not a sound engineer but I think that might even be a good thing for viewers who are looking for simple solutions/techniques.
Ola, how about a series of videos start to finish to recording a song (tracking, mics, bass, drum tracks) and then mix down to an album or demo for the uninitiated on RUclips?
Alexis Marshall(Daughters vocalist) just recently released a fucking immaculate solo album. It's unnerving and calming as well, but a lot more of a delve into his mind at time. Also features a lot of industrial/experimental and avant garde flavors. As well as featuring his girlfriend LINGUA IGNOTA(or Kristen Hayter), who also just came out with an amazing new album that is unlike anything I've ever heard. It's her "calmest" album to date, but still insanely heavy and dark for the style. But she features some screaming and singing, as well as piano parts on Alexis Marshall's new album. Cannot recommend either of them enough. LINGUA IGNOTA also has some very beautiful and heavy work that is more on the metal side of things, but still very much her own lane. Opera and classical influences on top of the heavy and avant garde style, very well spoken and creates vivid imagery with her work. It's just visceral, I love it
Hey Ola, will we ever see a Solar guitar with the "Hipshot Ibby HM Guitar Bridge" ? Or is that bridge for Ibanez guitars only? I think this bridge and palm muting could be a match made in heaven :)
Hey Ola! Maybe do some speaker comparisons in different cabs to see how much specific speaker/cab construction affects the sound? You getting more in-depth content but producing less sounds like THE way to go dude. Good move and so looking forward to it 🤘🏼
The Mark Morton is very cool, but, if the Jeff Loomis Jackson Kelly is ANYTHING like the Schecter JL - 7, it's absolutely worth the effort! It should come with his signature Seymour Duncan pickups, which are screaming hot, with chunky, and thick low end, yet the highs are so crisp, and they deliver knife edge sharp transients. My JL - 7 has the Vampyre Red Swamp Ash, and is from the final year with Schecter (that's why it has his signature Duncans).
That riff you're playing at the start of the video sounds great Ola. I'm going to get one of my guitars set up in Drop C and was wondering what string gauge you're using there, and brand?
I'm relatively new to this channel but I'm glad I found it. Ola 's content is both informative and hilarious. Here's an idea: Ola Subscriber's Dream Solar Guitar - Ola asks members what body shape, finish/color, and hardware they would want, the subscribers vote on it, and we get see it happen from idea to finished product and Ola sees if it will chug at the end - and finds a suitable place on his office wall.
Hey Ola, here's some suggestions. - production; how to record differents instruments, how to mix, master... - behind the scene; if possible, some peeks on what is happening when you are preparing for a show, the day of the show, after the show. - Coffee with Ola, again when possible, I would like to see you chatting with fellow musicians. -Collaboartions? Maybe create songs with other musicians/youtuber, youtube metal album? - Maybe it's a bit difficult but would be cool to introduce us to Solar employees, why they join you venture, what music they listen to, do they play guitars, any great stories during working time...
I would love Ola's Adventures as it's own video series. I love seeing Sweden through the eyes of a local. And eventually expand that back out to other countries when you can travel again, like your old travel & touring vlogs. I mean, name another musician on youtube that has a video about herding goats with their family.

Kirk looks like a grandma. Gibson should be a perfect fit.
t-that's kinda offensive :o
@@ygztrygnl ya load really pissed me off 😒 I'm a jilted lover what can I say.
Ha!🤣
Do a Making Of a specific solar guitar model. Continue coffee with Ola and please have Bernth (check out his amazing channel!) and other metal/shred teaching youtubers to have a coffee. Big love to Pix!
Video idea.....how to dial in tones with different amp types (tube, solid state etc) with guitars equipped with active & passive pickups?????????
I would like to see a video that shows your beginnings in metal, your first bands, the evolution of your beginnings until today and what you have achieved thanks to your effort, example your solar company and be recognized as a great guitarist. I imagine that you have photos and videos of those times to do something entertaining, besides being an approach for those people who think that you can not ...
greetings and great channel man ...
This amazing T natural is incredible for metal, but it workss for traditional Tele tones? Or something clean?
You should make buget/beginner videos like affordable guitar and amp setups and review cheap guitars like the jackson js22 and stuff but great vids man (you should review the jim root guitars)
Would like to see a series on the studio build at your country home. Love the puppy, she is adorable
A great Sunday always starts with Ola :) Keep it up!
quad coretex in 4 cable method, vs kemper stage in 4 cable method both thru one of those monster amps????
Maybe trying weird guitar stuff and taking us along for the ride, whether good or terrible. Like, see if you can blend two amps that are very opposed to each other to try and achieve a new sound that's awesome, or at least has a new flavor, kinda like the laney/valve state combo that they did for in flames or 5150/valvestate, things like that. Making a song that has only wammy barred notes? (Having to guess where the notes are, and if they're not the right notes, bend them to where they sound cool.) Idk. I know it's hard to come up with ideas. And these could easily be too intensive.
Hey Ola. What’s the song in the background during the Adventures with OLA segment?
Props to who put Daughters in that playlist. Such a fucking great band.
seriously!!
Greeings. My suggestion for you to have more videos about your house, building and furnishing mancave and inhouse studio.
Was looking back and seen the Mirage Deluxe Crackel,Did you check it out? Just started watching, Chug!! I have one it's a 💎..Your Thoughts?
This week's intro tune is probably my favorite of yours. The phatness is on another level. Tack som fan hörredu!
Any chance you would build a guitar?
Break down the techniques and sounds of your favorite songs?
Cooking and racing cars! Will be awesome! Travelling with ola!
Man, Kirk really needs to stop following Dave around. It's getting weird...
😂
That's nonsense. Kirk has a genuine passion for Gibson and has been playing them for decades on stage and in the studio. Dave is just hopping from one endorser to the next as usual, and will most certainly have them build another grey flying V with that weird V-shaped string holder thingy on it - but this time it's gonna say Gibson on the headstock instead of Jackson/ESP/Dean.
@@honigdachs. I think that went over your head there fella...
@@adamrandell7946 That's your problem, your thinking often doesn't do you any favors.
@@honigdachs. he's joking
School summer vacation in Sweden seems pretty standard. In the US, most places, school is out sometime in early June and returns first week of September…
What song was being played in the intro?
Just curious... How long are the kids summer vacations?
I think you should make videos of going to different guitar shops in Sweden and trying out guitars it’s cool to see
My favorite is always the gear reviews and going through settings on floor processors. I really value your opinions on things like the Fractal processors, Boss GT1000, etc.
I would like to see more about setting up D.A.W, and how all the plug ins work.
Was the opening riff from a song?
Now if Gibson could get the great Michael Schenker as an artist that would be awesome! He is rock royalty and deserves to be a Gibson signature artist.
Schenker is God and has sold thousands of Vs for Gibson. He above all others is probably the most responsible for the resurgence of the Flying V. He deserves a sig model for sure.
@@jfo3000 Yes, literally.
James Hetfield got himself a flying V and painted it white.
Because Michael Schenker had a flying V
I would like to see a video on how you get your sounds in the studio. Your lead tone is amazing!
you could do a inspiration series talking about the evolution of your metal music taste !!
What is your opinion on dime leaving the artist section on deans website… sad
Would love to see more on the road stuff. Popular history sites of metal in Sweden. Visiting guitar stores, trying stuff out.
Vids about the writing process are always interesting to me.
Totally got me. I was hoping we would get to vote on the next Solar guitar
Ola, how about a series of videos start to finish to recording a song (tracking, mics, bass, drum tracks) and then mix down to an album or demo for the uninitiated on RUclips?
is the beginning bit a song?
That's a Harley Benton Dullahan in the second Riff Challenge.
8:45 Andriy Vasylenko!
Hi Ola! Have you seen the new Paul David's video about metal riffs? What do you think?
I would really like you to do a review of the Positive Grid Spark. Hello from Ottawa, Canada.
I wouldn't be tired by a daily Ola video content. At all.
Really looking forward to see you talking about BC RICH Erik Rutan signature 7 string guitar on your next SWOLA video.
Ola you should do more covers, I enjoy watching those
Ijzersterke riffs! 😉
Jackson Kelly!!!
Would you review PEAVEY 6505 MH?
I'm relatively new to this channel but I'm glad I found it. Ola
's content is both informative and hilarious.
The New Dream Theater Video Rocked ;)
The voice of an angel
Hi Ola, this would be an idea for your future topics.
How about composing songs with the riffs that you collect from your followers?
That J.Mascis Jazzmaster is really really nice. My uncle has one and it plays so frickin good.
Two Jacksons, can't go wrong there 😊
Ola is discovering Daughters. LET'S GOO
How about an audio interface comparison, Ola?
Definitely like to see more of the Designing of Solars etc...be very interesting.🤘👍
If could get a plane ticket to meet you Ola I'd be there tomorrow lol
I've watched every video and been a huge fan for years
I would love Ola's Adventures as it's own video series. I love seeing Sweden through the eyes of a local. And eventually expand that back out to other countries when you can travel again, like your old travel & touring vlogs.
I mean, name another musician on youtube that has a video about herding goats with their family.
I think, more interactions would be really cool. Riff challenge is my fav part of SWOLA, even though I never took part in it (for now)
