    Had to replace 2 of my rabbits (does)..had to drive 5 hrs into Kansas for them. Most rabbits for sale in Oklahoma, that I've found, are pets..got silver fox..
    So glad you all are on the mend!

    Did you get the update on your freeze dryer? Living traditions did a video recently about them increasing how many trays fit. And they did the update.

    Glad you are feeling better!! Hopefully the virus has ran it's course and all of your family are past the bug!! It is rough when you have a bug at anytime of the year, but during gardening, canning and preserving time it can seem overwhelming. I agree with you that having someone else milk may not be easily done. I'm going to guess that the girls probably wouldn't even let down their milk well with anyone besides you. Take care of yourself and get the rest you need!!! Thanks for a great video!!! Stay safe!!❤

    Heather, I accidentally some how came across a video with a guy showing how to save seeds from every thing you were talking about. He also showed how he tests them.... I'll go and see if I can find the video, it was so informative. I'll come back and tell you what it/he is called..although I know you know, there may be something that he says that may help? I'll be right back.....

    So glad you're starting to feel better! On the seed saving fermentation, I'm wondering if adding in a teaspoon of raw apple cider vinegar or fresh brewed kombucha would help boost that fermentation and help shed that slimy layer? We aren't saving many seeds this year that would warrant that kind of attention, but I can see us doing it next year - the first year that we will be trying to intentionally cross-pollinate a few types of garden goodies!

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead  Год назад +1

      It might help, I've never tried that! As it is it doesn't take long for the seeds to shed that cushion. Just 2 or 3 days

    well if the kids are back school where you're at that's where you got it from and with only 1 year past the lockdown from covid we still have to take care of ourselves and keep up on good things to keep us safe and the keys are washing hands all the time and good yummy food and lots of rest and I know it harvests time and canning time but still in full swing but you take care of your heather and don't push your self to hard or you can make your self sicker so get well and do what need to do

    Glad you are starting to feel better Heather, and I definitely think it's smart to take the little shortcuts while ill or on the mend. It's not a daily thing like you said, so just get done what needs doing and the rest will sort itself out! Hahaha. Loved seeing the kitchen cleanup, it always makes me feel great to work in a space that is tidy - really helps a lot. All that yummy melon, thank you for sharing the ways you have preserved it all and the methods of seed preservation.
    There's a thought in minimalism (and maybe elsewhere too, but I believe I saw it referenced on The Minimal Mom YT channel) that all the "stuff" in our spaces weighs us down because our brains are constantly doing little mini checklists (clean that, move that, gotta do XYZ with that, etc) and the less there is for our brains to subconsciously be constantly doing a mental tickertape about, the better. So the cleaner and more streamlined the space, the less mental stress there is. I haven't gotten to being that minimal yet, hahahahaha!! But, it is one of my goals to be very thoughtful about "stuff" and space organization once I have my own place.

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead  Год назад +2

      I ALMOST talked about that too. I used to have TONS of dishes. Multiple sets of plates for adults and a million plastic plates and utensils for kids. It was bananas. It was really easy to let dishes really pile up so I got rid of all the plastic plates (except 6) and all the plastic cups and forks and things and really only left enough dishes for about 4 meals. I HAVE TO run the dishwasher every day just about but it is so much easier to not have to worry about that many dishes. We do the same thing with clothes, and toys. We actually really need a toy purge. If they can't clean up within 30 minutes it's too much suff and some things need to cycle out to the shed. It's a great system!
      We are not technically minimalistic but there's a lot of stuff that I have gleaned from that idea!

      @@SageandStoneHomestead Too funny! When I first heard of the concept it just sort of clicked and made sense to me, because I am someone who will do that (create mental lists or notes) as my gaze wanders around the home (or if at work), so the less of that stuff rattling around in our brains the more space we have to mentally breathe and be more creative, etc.
