At long last the teaser for the Mississippi River Log Part 2 is out! I've absolutely loved hearing your stories and comments -- please keep them coming and be sure to watch the teaser here: ruclips.net/video/Yfvi2BivlmM/видео.html
william seigler lol we have 80 year old women who are still skydiving on their own since the 1950's at 80 years old. One older lady I know has over twenty thousand jumps and still going strong. Paddleboard is better than kayak :-)
You boys didn't plan the the adventure carefully, but you were smart to stop when the risk was too high. It also appear that the unplanned portion of your adventure is priceless experience that you two will tell your kids and grand kids about. Awesome video. Thank you for sharing.
I was a marine. I had many adventures. Gentlemen i applaude you. Screw a euro trail. Our american youth should all do a stay cation and enjoy this country they live in. The worlds a screwd up place. Time moves fast. Pretty soon it seems you've gotten older and times run out. The body just isnt what it was at 18 -35. Too hell with the opinions of haters. Trust me. Ya did something here you'll look back on proudly and smile. Enjoy your youth and make lots of memories. My best friends gone now. We were brothers since second grade. We also had good times. That type of friendships irreplaceable. Its true what they say you really have just 1 best friend in life. Good luck boys.
Love to hear it!! We were actually looking up interesting Mississippi facts while rafting and it turns out waterskiing was invented on the Mississippi River! So not a bad place to ski - if you get the chance, we just posted Ep. 1 where myself and co go waterskiing in a cranberry bog - an absolutely surreal experience! -G
Glade I watched do you know how many people wished they would have tried something even close to what you did great job I live in New Orleans on the MS. River next time come the whole way here have some fun Please post your next adventure CANT WAIT know its going to be GREAT THX AGAIN LIVE FREE
I worked on a tow boat back over 50 years ago, a couple of young people started across the river in a ski boat and the engine died. The boat got sucked into the dam and went under the gates which open from the bottom up. This happens often I am told, I never was at a lock when a non powered vessel went through but I know it does often, maybe not a raft. A great adventure for sure but the lock master gave you great advice and you listened, a great decision.
I paddled the Mississippi in a 17' canoe from St. Paul. I didn't know about locks at first, so I portaged at Rebecca... All the rest of the locks I went through. Later on that trip, I did all of the locks on the Erie Canal and the Oswego Canal in that canoe.
I work on towboats and saw you at lock 7. Just some advice. I would say don't do this at all. But if you must... Don't do it in high water, carry flares and signal smoke, and a marine radio. I see so many people come real close to getting killed because of their ignorance.(doesn't mean stupid, means lack of knowledge).
Brandon Phillips 2 people have paddle boarded the ENTIRE MISSISSIPPI in 88 days. I was a lock operator for the corps. I'm gonna do the same on the board soon.
I made something like that with truck innertubes on Nicholas Island, and the police siezed it from me as soon as I launched it. So I bought a used aluminum canoe in St. Paul for $300, and paddled it to Key West.
I went through every still used lock on the Mississippi in a 10ft kayak in 2017... Lots of folks said I'd die but I rang the bell and went through the locks anyways no big deal...
I was a lock operator for years. That's exactly what they have is pull rope usually for people that don't have radios. The Army corps of Engineers has protocol written for rafts. Calling on cellphone is standard procedure these days
Its not the destination but the journey! Exactly! I tented earlier this year as a storm hit and thought for a few minutes a bloody jet was passing over me very bloody low but it was the wind and OMG my tent kept flattening over me and noone in the caravan park next morning could believe I didn't get blown to the next town! It was a three woman (pun intended) pop up tent and I believe they r ergonomically well suited for storms except for the flooding inside but I was lucky I slept on my fold up massage table and I didn't get soaked just dripped on badly! I ended putting my umbrella up and had to mop up in a bucket excess water! Why u ask was I in a tent well my wiz bang door on my small Mazda RV had just fallen off and was jamming with the roller broken when i slid it back on and I was waiting for parts - I only got stuck in it once scarey as! I have a bicycle rack on the back and a luggage rack behind the front seats and was absolutely trapped! Tks for sharing! Moral of the story start small trips and put a tiny outboard on back for further trips - enjoyed your adventures! Oh and take hammocks and sleep in them where no bears roam with mozzie nets! Was that skull a wolverine tis a bit long for a bear?? Enjoy and happy safe roaming!
Enjoyed watching your video! Thanks for sharing. If you get a chance, take a canoe through the locks and gain some experience locking through. The more you do it the easier it gets.Peace
With all of the locks on the upper half of the Mississippi, it is more like a series of LAKES rather than a river. You need to use solar panels powering a small electric trolling motor to get any forward travel at all on those stretches of the river. Solar powered electric motor since that way you don't have to worry about what to do when the fuel tanks run low, because there are no fuel tanks.
Next time get a copy of CG-161 it is the Coast Guard Light List of the Rivers, Mississippi, Ohio and Missouri Navigation List. It is updated each year. Have cannoed the Missouri River twice. Once in '76 and again in '96. Fun time adventure.
Don't know why you rigged your raft like a sailboat as that would never have worked. I would have just set a big spiniker out front and only have gone with the run when available because a raft just can't sail. Otherwise awesome experience.
Having watched to the end the adventure seems like a bit of a fail. But what I love about it is you guys are out there doing something rather than sitting at home in front of the boob-tube watching Netflix or playing video games. Good job !
Damn fine effeort fellas! Do y'all want to go to the BAJA 1000 in Nov 2018 with me??? My two nephews are stuck in their rooms playing Minecraft -- and I can't get them out!
About 40 years ago, I saw on TV ( Public Broadcasting Channel here in Los Angeles, CA ) about an adventure on the Amazon River on a raft with steam engine. They gathered woods along the way for fuel. I have been looking for that video, so far no success.
I used to work on the rivers. Been from Alma Wis. to south of New Orleans, you guys are OK doing this Rafting Stunt north of St. Louis, but DO NOT RAFT SOUTH OF ST. LOUIS. Then it truly is the mighty Mississippi, bitch has killed enough people to populate a city. Great vid tho, keep up the adventures friends!
Boat engines can overheat? There's cold water available as much as it can ever need to be cooled and the fucking thing overheats? By which Genius was this engine created? wtf! xD
After talking with some sailors about it they are apparently are far too small to do much of anything but I thought they kind of looked cool lol - the river was flowing at a pretty good speed so we didn’t need them -G

Looks like something my old buddy Robert and I pulled. Only now we are each 65, and now we are doing it in kayaks. Keep adventuring guys.

This brings to mind advice my father used to give, “you don’t have to be crazy but it helps”. Love the adventure.
Love that quote!!
I love this. As a veteran punk rafter and shantyboater, this is the best!

Im old too.
It has been 1 yr since my best buddy died.
100% good advice.
Like, you just flung your trash into the river??? Undeserving of subscription!
Used to raft in the Mississippi about 50 miles north of Memphis, Tn. Learned to water ski there!!! A blast. Good job guys.

and hang a RADAR REFLECTOR as high as you can - - - - towboats THANKED us for doing there

NIce raft! And respect for sails! I'd never seen it before) Now we are building a similar raft in Russia, but with 2 masts and 4 sails))
I was a lock operator for years. That's exactly what they have is pull rope usually for people that don't have radios. The Army corps of Engineers has protocol written for rafts. Calling on cellphone is standard procedure these days
This was the coolest video. Thank you
It is awesome to know that river crosses severals several states. I'm from Brazil and really would like to know it.
Awesome adventure though. Props.
"DUDE! WHERES MY RAFT!"
Just kidding guys. Awesome trip.
Its not the destination but the journey! Exactly!

very nice!
these guys are a hoot !
great young men .
Enjoyed watching your video! Thanks for sharing. If you get a chance, take a canoe through the locks and gain some experience locking through. The more you do it the easier it gets.Peace
If I ever see you guys in a bar, I'll buy you some beers. Loved this video.

Solar powered electric motor since that way you don't have to worry about what to do when the fuel tanks run low, because there are no fuel tanks.
Alright, awesome video, but I still want to see you tack that raft through the wind. :)
Lucky to have a good cousin!
This was some fun stuff alright. More enjoyable watching you guys than Bear Grylls. More vids please guys. Loved it.
Thanks so much!! Can’t ask for a better compliment than that - Bear is a legend!!
Not sure how well it will sail w/o a keel. Anyway looks like lots of fun. Video well produced.
Next time get a copy of CG-161 it is the Coast Guard Light List of the Rivers, Mississippi, Ohio and Missouri Navigation List. It is updated each year. Have cannoed the Missouri River twice. Once in '76 and again in '96. Fun time adventure.
Item #2 on the list: make part 2 video. Great adventure, if only enthusiasm could be converted into forward motion.
Lol forward motion was the problem! Rest assured - part 2 is on its way
I was worried about doing this in a pontoon boat. I'm good I think.
stoked to see an upload!
This is awesome i wish i can do this lol
It certainly helps to stay stoned when you reach the treacherous parts.
Don't know why you rigged your raft like a sailboat as that would never have worked. I would have just set a big spiniker out front and only have gone with the run when available because a raft just can't sail. Otherwise awesome experience.
Boats under sail power have right of way on waterways since their maneuverability is limited.
Donald Ducks , and hot air balloons have right of way in the air
not in the canal because the barge is less maneuverable
So is the crew.
Stuck between a Loch and a hard place! :-P
Where's part 2?
Cool
waiting for the coast guard safety check ... oy !
Is there a part 2?
Wheres the part 2
inspiring
Need some more vids boyz
Mni Wiconi ✊✊🏻✊
Start down river below all the locks and dams
Where is this guy At now or you back out on the Mississippi river
They just posted the trailer for Part 2
Having watched to the end the adventure seems like a bit of a fail. But what I love about it is you guys are out there doing something rather than sitting at home in front of the boob-tube watching Netflix or playing video games. Good job !
nick/gregory, ty for the video! where did you get your barrels???...did you get your raft back home or not?
Tom and Huck
Did u get bummed on your trip like in deliverance?
One way only?
Pretty short trip for 5 months. A guy paddleboarded the ENTIRE Mississippi in 88 days.
Is there going to be a part two?
i kayaked the river this year
Damn fine effeort fellas! Do y'all want to go to the BAJA 1000 in Nov 2018 with me??? My two nephews are stuck in their rooms playing Minecraft -- and I can't get them out!
Go down the Suwannee from GA to Fl gulf.
Looks like a great adventure! Love the idea
Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn
About 40 years ago, I saw on TV ( Public Broadcasting Channel here in Los Angeles, CA ) about an adventure on the Amazon River on a raft with steam engine. They gathered woods along the way for fuel. I have been looking for that video, so far no success.
where you guys inspired by The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn?

Bull sharks found in Mississippi, don't drag your feet in the water
Wolf - I read this comment while we were filming part 2 - not what I wanted to hear lol - G
I have been right through your music score and i cannot find the guitar music at the opening ,,,,can somebody help please.
How did you keep the barrels in place? Thanks in advance
We just used rubber bungie cords lol!
The infamous explores Edward and hunt

Thanks for showing us how not to do it
Where did you get that white collared shirt with the laces?
Good vid, but the music is too loud over your voices.
Thanks for the feedback! I got more into sound editing on the next one -- if you check out Ep. 1 it should be much better balanced
it would have been a great video had you not thrown Trash in that ditch. what's wrong with burning or burying it?
tom sawyer and huck finn revival
I used to work on the rivers. Been from Alma Wis. to south of New Orleans, you guys are OK doing this Rafting Stunt north of St. Louis, but DO NOT RAFT SOUTH OF ST. LOUIS. Then it truly is the mighty Mississippi, bitch has killed enough people to populate a city. Great vid tho, keep up the adventures friends!
Don think there be a part 2 I think these guys just had idea in there head and went for it .
I hope you had a fair amount of weed with you guys..
In the ice chest...
Partying with Huck Finn. oh yeah.
Boat engines can overheat? There's cold water available as much as it can ever need to be cooled and the fucking thing overheats? By which Genius was this engine created? wtf! xD
what did you use to seal the barrels?
Kevin Boothby Maybe the tops of the barrels?
Dragging those coolers on the rough road surfaces is not smart at all.
Where are the logs all I see is metal drums lol
Two weird dudes but nice video
Claude Bishop Yea right, they don't do what "normal" people do --- sit on their ass playing video games and slowly becoming Brainwashed watching TV.
The raft is good the adventure is great ... The sails are crap hhhh
Fn A Boys !
Do the sails docanything
After talking with some sailors about it they are apparently are far too small to do much of anything but I thought they kind of looked cool lol - the river was flowing at a pretty good speed so we didn’t need them -G
Is this like young Cheech & Chong? rofl
