Hey, being an Australian surfer it's great to see an 'update' on Bethany Hamilton. I remember when she was attacked while competing in the States. Sounds like she's a full American now. She was a fighter from day '1'. 🌊🦈
Absolutely smart wonderful girl. She has a a better outlook on life than people who had everything handled to them and never had any trauma. I’m so happy she doesn’t hate sharks because they aren’t like humans they don’t do anything out of malice.
I never imagined I'd be one of the kids who survived a shark attack. I felt a sudden, sharp pain in my leg. Looking down, I saw a large, dark shape it was a shark. I screamed for help. My friends were terrified and lifeguards rushed into action. Just as quickly as it had attacked, the shark let go. With all my strength, I was safe, but my life was changed forever.
Aw my uncle Todd Hecht was the videographer on Bethany Hamilton video, I remember her going to meet Brooke my cousin and she was asleep lol, still super great memories, she was always so beautiful inside and out
The important thing to remember is that the ocean is the home of all marine life. Just as the land is humans’ homes. We have to always remember. I was taught to never wear jewelry or swimming attire that reflects the sun in a sparkling way. Most fishing lures have metal on them somewhere which reflects light causing sparkling reflections. I get that a predator would be curious and drawn to things of this nature. I learned this as a teen and have never forgotten it and I live by those rules to this day.
I too love Bondi Beach and that’s a great question and have wondered this for years. I know there is a logical answer but don’t know what that answer is.
I’ve seen the documentary of Bethany’s story and watched SoulSurfer 3 or 4 times! Bethany is a phenomenal human being. She is probably one of the bravest people I’ve ever read about and has inspired so many people. She would not let this tragic event stop her from pursuing her dreams and never acted like a victim or let it keep her from making her dreams come true. I’m just in awe of this young lady!!!
This actually makes me feel 'less' afraid of sharks! We're so often just bombarded with stories of people who die from shark encounters, so to see a large amount of (inspirational) people who've survived, makes surviving an attack seem a bit more ordinary/common (if you get my logic?!). Congrats and thanks to all of those in this video, who've shared their story.x
Most of the time it is out of curiosity even though in rare cases there has been man eating sharks because they have attacked but then swam back around and finished the victim off. So that is my definition of man eaters!
I was working a contract in Acapulco, so I went swimming: in a split second, an undertow pulled me away! I didn't panic and started swimming sideways as you're supposed to: after a while I saw everyone on the beach looking at me and waving their arms... two local lifeguards made their way to me and insisted I get my full body on the board as they nervously swam on each side of me. I understood enough spanish then to catch the word tiburon 😳 a jet ski came to us and pulled us away... to this day, I think they saved my life! 😬 🫣 🦈 🥰 🇲🇽
I always ask someone when I'm in like at a place with water that have creatures in it I just ask "do sharks live in here" it's bc I do not want to be attacked by sharks
14:28 she is the whole reason why I kept playing basketball after I got a bite like 3:35 and after I started playing with my team again I lead my team to state championships
when i saw the extent of the injuries of these people i wondered how ever they where still alive bethany hamilton the girl who lost her whole arm is a very brave woman indeed and an inspiration to anyone i wood say considering what happened to her that the shark that was responsible was a great white............

U know most attacks occur in about 4 - 5 ft deep , right. And how about the child that wasn’t even swimming in the water that was on a skim board?? Think his foot was bitten. You would actually have a better chance at winning the lottery than getting bitten by a shark.
What about Mike Coots who at 17 yrs lost his leg at the knee to a tiger shark on kaui about the same time as Bethany and has since become a world renowned activist and photographer who helps sharks and even swims with tiger sharks
North Carolina and Bermuda is the wrong place to be swimming during the summer. Also Mexico near Cabo that’s where the sharks usually migrate won’t catch me in ocean
Pagie is one hell of a girl.. her parents must be so proud of her..
❤
She's amazing ☺️ her spirit shines✨💕
I agree ❤

I ❤ Bethany Hamilton I love how even though she lost her arm she still wanted to chase her dream even after a traumatic experience💗
I'm more of an arachnid girl than a shark one, but Paige's statement about it all is worthwhile!
you can fully understand why paiges father was so traumatised but the reality is that his actions saved his daughter's life.............
she saved her own life ma boi
So much ……………
Even after all this, I still have an unhealthy obsession with sharks

Seventeen lost her leg how tragic..Paige..no folks, I’m alive ..all is good…what an amazing human being 🇨🇦❤️
The WHOLE TIME I’m in the ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, I’m thinking about sharks. That’s why I’m never in the water longer than 15 minutes.
But
It only takes one.
15 mins is long
Children can be incredibly resilient. I know I was, and still am. It is such a positive in life. These children will go far.
What an amazing kiddo. We will hear from her again. You go Paige!
Wow. I’ve known moms to lift cars off their kids. Dads punching sharks is spectacular.
All true!
I just want to Say that everyone who suffered is really brave😊❤🎉
Soul surfer is one of my favorite movies I don’t know how many times I’ve watched it
Look @ the first young lady Paige her spirit touched me go parents ❗️
I can't swim, so I don't see Shark having me for lunch, breakfast or dinner.
I do like to swim but not in those big beach
I LOVE to swim because I am an Aquarius but not in the ocean 😅
I can swim but i never and will never swim into deep water or to where small and big fishes live
Beware of those land sharks!
Even if you can’t swim, you may just splash around in shallow waters, and those nurse sharks and black tips will get ya’
9:59 its like ur asking to be bitten swimming there.
No one that is SANE is asking to be bitten by a shark. But the keyword is SANE!

I love the conviction on brittanys face when she said 'i think, 'i know'. 😄☺️✨💕
Why dont they install shark nets... like Bondi Beach.. this happens too often
Because sharks can swim under them. And they kill lots of other marine life as well
@JTB-di8yj your response makes no sense
@jamsng try watching documentaries about it and then you might understand

Omg I feel so bad I can’t imagine the pain
4:11 this child was absolutely adorable and did not deserve this neither did them all.
That first girl handled it like a champ! I love how she was about the whole thing
1:31 she’s seems like she’s suffering some mental stress, She needs a counselor
Just curious how can you tell?
😢 seems in good spirits to me.
why??
yes
I agree with you.
The 17 yr old i love her attitude. Shes strong and still cares about the sharks. Shes not letting it hold her back. Her spirit is strong. ❤
Listen Bethany is absolutely amazing...
It’s swimming pools for me! Oh yesss!

Can we talk about how Bethany ALSO went into amazing race (season 25) AND.
made it to the end. Incredible just incredible
It's funny how our brain blocks the pain initially. I wish them all the best.
Nope. I’ll hang out at the pool.
God bless paige, i love her positivity
Bethany actually has 4 children, 3 boys and a baby girl
I love the “thanks! I got no leg!”
Well, I’m never going to the beach ever again after watching this
I am going in the beach just not the water
