    Thanks a lot sir for your elaborate explanation with a good diagram. Excellent professional way if your teaching of this type will surely clear the doubts of anyone interested in learning this subject. Like this if you could explain the inner winding if the coils i.e starting and running it will give more exhaustive details of the complete fan from winding to operation. While u give your details of coil winding inside ceiling fan, pls explain the following:-
    1. There is confusion whether the starting side or ending side of start and run coils are to be connected for a common wire. I.e. some RUclips videos says you can take one of end wire and start side of start wire for common. Another tuber says either the starting side of both starting and running to be taken for correct common wire
    Some tuber says only the end side of both start and running to be connected as common.
    2. Secondly, when u see the fan running from top whether it should run on clock wise or anti clockwise for giving good sir.
    3. What should be the correct gauge and no. Of turns each for starting and running coil.
    4. How to find ceiling fan watts when no such watts data is provided by the company.
    Pls explain this in this answer column to my comment.

    I have a capacitor with 4 wires 4uf, 5uf and 7uf and a three speed pull chain switch. The fan has difficulty starting very slow at all speeds. I think my capacitor is bad.

      Sir I want your suggestion and help that is I want to reduce the celling fan speed from the existing speed . The celling fan which I am using is in good condition .
      I want the celling fan speed like Wet Grinder ( what I have to do)

    Explained very nicely, but what should be capacity of capacitor in ceiling fan or other like exhaust fan or heavy wall fan, what's the calculation for capacitor if condenser value is missing.

      I believe that capacitor provides a third phase from the two phases in order to supply the three phase motor from a single phase. the phase shift through the cap is around 90 degrees but not 120 degrees as required.
      Local laws prevent motors larger than 1HP from this type of connection.

    I tried to read resistance. B-Y gave a reading on the second lowest resistance which is 2k but R-B and R-Y needed a higher resistance like 200k. What should I do in this situation?

    I have an old ceiling fan with circuit board. Three capacitors on the circuit board. Three wires go to the ceiling fan. Four wires go to the pull chain speed select and two wires for the reverse direction toggle. Can I use a common 5 wire capacitor to replace the circuit board?

    If there is a small difference between the start & run winding resistance. Then you can change direction like shown. But in most cases the start has a much larger resistance & cannot be swapped. But if there where 4 wires from the motor, 2 starting & 2 running, then it can be swapped. By swapped the start wires around. Or by swapping the run winding. It's better explained with a diagram.
