Honestly I am SO glad they ended up doing an entire overhaul on the game. The Beta version looks like one of those rip-off GTA remakes for a mobile game. Absolute trash and very fakey. Plus, you don't get the same atmosphere from any other GTA even today that they ended up recreating in the final cut. Just that super ominous, creepy type feel to it is unlike any other. I love this game because of that. It was the first video game I ever played and honestly still one of my favorites today.
Yeah I agree, both versions have cartoonish mechanics due to the limited technology but the released version had the atmosphere unlike the beta that had really bright colors that wouldn't fit Liberty City.

They finally gave the dark and moisty atmosphere in the beta from inspirations from Mafia movies, as you see in the final versions
For those who are curious, the safe house interior at 8:24 is from a mod called “Extended Interiors Universe”. The original game had the room with the mattress that you could glitch into, the bathroom seen here is only in the mod.
Dodo flight: 1st you need the airport runway, becouse it takes time to accelerate 2nd While accelerating push the planes front down to gain more speed 3th When you see the sparkles, stop pushing it down, the plane will jump up 4th Quickly push the front back while you up, try to keep the plane in horizontal position 5th NEVER TRY TO LIFT THE PLANES FRONT, it will immediately lose momentum, and fall down like a brick, if you want to gain more speed just push the plane bit down, it will bump you up again, and gain a bitt height and speed 6th Steer slowly, just fly around the islands, the Calahan bridges hitbox is way bigger than it seems, avoid flying next to it. Flying above unique jump spots will trigger slowmo, wich presists till hitting the ground or water.
I guess the reason why GTA 3 in the beta looks cartoonish is because RockStar wanted to make GTA 3 more accurate to the box art taking a cartoonish look for the game yet later they changed it to a live action thing
The DoDo is cool once you figure it out. Like your figuring out a big secret, its kinda bizarre. Its why GTA3 is still one of my favorites besides it being so revolutionary. It has a mystery feel too it that the other games dont have. In atmosphere and gameplay, Obviously Rstar improved the formula and GTA3 was a first attempt that they knocked out of the park but those little learning curves are what makes it unique these days and worth playing.
I actually do like the vehicles. Keep in mind that the cartoonish style only existed in the Alpha, and in the Beta, the game already had a more gritty look. The old Tank for me is the best part, it's actually a six-wheeled APC, not whatever the hell the GTA III Rhino is based on.
you give it better details in alpha version more than original but only the painting or design of alpha characters need little 🤏more editing anyway i like your idea of alpha version it was creative video 👌✌

These are fan made mods and they are alpha footage as the graphics look much brighter and simpler. Its in the beta version where Rockstar finally implemented the dark and final graphics

It's not because it's unfinished, Rockstar originally wanted the game to go in a similar direction to GTA 2, even including the Zaibatsu. Later on they decided to go for a more grounded aproach which made the game go for a realistic look.

I mentioned the Zaibatsu because Rockstar really was building the game using GTA 2 as a reference not only for the graphics but also for the world (Zaibatsu is literally a Cyberpunk evil corporation) Over the course of development Rockstar quickly shifted the focus from another sci-fi sandbox to a crime game influenced by mafia movies as you said. The alpha didn't look cartoonish because it was unfinished, it looked cartoonish because Rockstar's original vision for GTA 3 was GTA 2 in 3D
This video was more of a comparison of how the game evolved in its development, not to see which was better. I can see how I could've explained that better.
@@angeerasvashisht This is not really a limitation, they just didn't had the time to finish properly the code, the dodo flying code was so broken, so they simply cut the wings, so players can drive the plane on roads.
for those of you who want to fly in gta 3 enable the flying car mode spawn a tank reverse the canno shoot the canon non stop and look in reverse forwards and you can get to the third island haha
