Always a beautiful sentiment, and a favourite old blessing.
To that, I will add...
"May the roof above us never fall in,
And those gathered beneath it never fall out"
Slainte agatsa...to your health as well! 🥃
And to yours! I truly appreciate connecting over these drams.
Happy belated St. Patrick's Day!
Yellow Spot is lovely, but Redbreast Cask Strength is just so hard to beat!
Agreed! I need to build up a better collection of Irish. I said "month" and barely made it to the 17th!
Happy Paddy's Day Jon! Was a big big fan of the Black Barrel, and the Black Bush. The Killowen rum and raisin sounds right up my alley. Gotta keep exploring the Irish Whiskey segment for sure. Thanks for championing Irish Whiskey Month. Having a great time with it. Cheers.
Top 5 list next year.
For years, I really related Irish to Jameson. Not bad, but not great. Now, I have had the good fortune of trying and picking up some really excellent releases. Cheers to next years top 5!
I'm from an Irish American family and I don't drink Irish or Scotch anymore. I focus on Rum and North American Whiskey. Having Elijah Craig tonight. Cheers.
A great dram! I hope you have a good evening too, cheers!
I totally missed making an Irish themed video, way too busy this weekend. Amazing list and your number 1 pick is on my must get list. For my top 5 I have to go with my favorite red breast 12, love Jameson Black Barrel, for sure blue spot makes the list, Dingle always has great stuff too and lastly I’d say my go to Irish Teeling small batch 🙌. Cheers 🥃🤙☘️
Great list! I hear you with being busy, but I'm glad you should share here. Hopefully you did get a bit of Irish over the weekend. Cheers!
Redbreast. Every time and every day. The Cask Strength and 15 year are always on my shelf.
Yes!! I can't believe I'm out!!
Fabulous Irish Whiskies Jon!! Great choices!! I'd grab the Jameson Black Barrel first! I love this expression! Oh I like that Killowen!! I go up and down with Bushmill's. Sometimes their whiskies are too gentle. Yes to Yellow Spot!! I enjoy it very much. I really enjoy the Waterfords as well. These are terrific!! I love Red Breast 21 and Powers! The 12 cask strength is also one I love but it's pricey. I have a bottle with me here in Maui for a dram today!! The Red Breasts would be my first two, Yellow Spot, Jameson Black Barrel and Powers!! I'd have to slip in the Killowen and Waterfords too on a 5 fave list!! Lol!! Busker whiskey isn't a hit for me but I get the appeal for many people. Happy St. Patrick's Day!! I love your huge enthusiasm and you always make such awesome videos!! Aloha!! Just had a big run on the beach - breathtakingly gorgeous and the fam needs me but I wanted to watch this terrific video and I sure had fun!! Cheers!! 🙂
So glad you are out and enjoying Maui! Great you have a few good drams packed along to sip too. Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
I just happen to be drinking some Redbreast 12 cask strength. It really is fantastic. Happy St. Paddy's day!
To you too! An amazing dram.
You can never go wrong with Irish whiskey Slainte!
Certainly in March! Do you have a favourite?
@@WhiskyNeighbour Red Breast15 yr
@@dennis85573 Nice one!
@@WhiskyNeighbour Which of the two single malts do you prefer the Sexton or the Tyrconnell?
@dennis85573 of the entrance, I prefer the Sexton. However, pay a little more and I enjoy the Tyrconnel 16, Moscatel
Happy St Paddy's Day Jon. My five in a descending order, Bushmills Black Bush, Powers Gold Label, Powers John's Lane, Yellow Spot, Redbreast 15. I was debating between Redbreast 12 CS and 15 and decided to crack open Redbreast 15 today. Takes me back to the last RB15 bottle I went through some 2 years ago. It is really delicious Irish whiskey. The regular ones I keep on hand are the likes of Jameson, Glendalough. I will likely get another bottle of Bushmills Black Bush. PS. Yellow spot is now at $148 in Ontario. Luckily I have a backup from a couple of years ago when it was I believe at $95. Slainte!
Great list! At $148, it would likely drop off this list or move down. Great whiskey, but that is pricey! Thanks for sharing, I hope you enjoy the day!
Picked up Bushmills 10 Year Old Sherry Cask Finish 1L for 39.6 GBP at LHR Duty Free! Love the Redbreast 12 Cask Strength as the #1.
Solid deal on the Bushmill! Glad we can agree Redbreast 12 CS is just good whiskey. Cheers!
Awesome video! Wasn't gonna miss this as I really trust your experience with Irish Whiskey. I've wanted to try the Bushmills Causeway Cognac but haven't pulled the trigger yet, perhaps I should! I have been really impressed by the concept for Waterford but not so much the taste or smell of the 10 or so I've tried. You hit the 🎯 with Red Breast 12 year Cask Strength. Great video Jon! 🥃
I think the Causeway Cognac hits the sweet spot of good flavours, integrity, and still affordable. A solid Irish. Thanks for watching Matt!
Always great content my friend.
Thank you! Fun to shoot too.
Black Barrel is a good often on sale and easy to find Irish but I always pick Power's Signature or Three Swallows over it in blinds.
I really like the Dingle single malt too, that would be in my top 5.
I tried to like the Bushmills Black Bush a couple of times I but would probably always pay a few dollars more for the 10yo. The nose is very similar, but the 10 just whittles away all the rough edges from the BB.
Dingle and Powers are fantastic, but harder to find good expressions here. Thanks for sharing!
You’ve got me interested in the Killowen now and I think I need to revisit the Bushmills. I’ve only had the 10 and the black bush but I did really enjoy them but I think I’ll shoot for that cognac finish, interesting. Have a great St. Patrick’s!
The Killowen is terrific!
If the cognac is not around, I am also enjoying the 12 a fair amount!
Nice one Jon! I just came across the Jameson Pot Still at a very good price but I'm just not a fan of single pot still whiskies so I passed on it. I do appreciate what Waterford is trying to do and I do enjoy their juice but I think if they're going so heavy on the terroir bit they should at least include a 1cl sample of their new make depending on which farm the barley comes from so we can compare. Redbreast 12 CS is probably one of the few Irish whiskies I can enjoy and it's nice to see it come out on top. Cheers 🥃
Including a sample of the new make would be a brilliant idea! Wow, you should write them. Not a fan of Pot Still eh? I can get behind it when done well. Thanks for dropping in, cheers!
Currently sipping on some Bushmills 10yo Single Malt Cognac cask finished (46%, after 7.5y it's transf to 1st fill Cognac casks to finish for at least 2.5 more years)
I love that release, glad you have some in the glass!
Perhaps a little surprised that a Powers or Writer's Tears didn't make the list, but some interesting choices that I'll have to look into.
Cheers!
I enjoy the Powers as well!!
I have not had a bottle of Powers, if you can believe it! If I was adding Writer's , I really enjoy their Double Oak. Sadly at 5 spots, they go fast!!
@@WhiskyNeighbour That's what I was thinking - 5 spots get taken quickly!! Lol!! Cheers Jon!! May the luck of the Irish be with you and your family!! 🙂
Powers is my favorite Irish whisky. I believe it's one of the top selling whiskies in Ireland too.
My Top Five
1. Green Spot Chateau Montelena
2. Teeling Single Malt
3. Red Spot
4. Jameson Black Barrel
5. Green Spot
I have but haven't cracked them open: Yellow Spot, Redbreast 12 & 15, Green Spot Quails Gate.
The standard Jameson is good and great mixer. Teeling Small Batch is good, just don't have after their Single Malt.
I was disappointed with one of the Waterford's (Gaia 2.1). ,it a great story but at it's initial 130 price tag not worth. It dropped to 100 and has been on clearance for 70 and I'd bite at that price but I'm not driving too for it even at that price point.
Great list! Thanks for sharing. I hope you enjoy the Yellow and Redbreast when you get to them.
Jon some awesome pick, I'm not sure if your sobeys liquor store is the same here in Saskatchewan but they have 20% off right now on Irish whisky. I actually just got 2 bottles of the redbreast 12 cask strength and it's very good.
I missed the sale, but that sounds like an awesome deal. Cheers!
Happy St Paddy's Jon. Thank you for your thoughts. I happen to be drinking Teelings Single Malt as my 1st of 3. I plan on following the Teelings with Green Spot and finishing with Killowen Rum Raisin. These are the only Irish whiskeys I have currently. The other 2 bottles I would put on my list are Powers John's Lane and Silkie The Legendary. Sláinte.
Excellent! I hope you enjoyed the night!
I always enjoy my evening watch your channel. Your views and recommendations are always valued. While you do review somevof the big names that other RUclipsrs review, you also review the ones I seldom or never hear about. I appreciate that. Thanks.
@jimreichel1466 Glad we can share a dram!
Having some friends over (Scotch purists) and trying to convince them that Irish single pot still is every bit as good as single malt Scotch. Four bottles line up. Jameson single pot still, Powers John’s Lane, Green Spot and Redbreast 15. I think that should do the trick.
I agree! Great line up, and if they don't bite, well, more good whiskey for future nights! Cheers!
@@WhiskyNeighbour there’s plans for a Canadian single malt night and a bourbon night. Time to expand some horizons.
@@jdmac150 Sounds great!!
Sexton is good value as a single malt for a good price.
Very true!

Cheers!
