- Today we're making 3 Irish themed cocktails that aren't green for St. Patrick's Day! Okay, the second drink is a little green, but it's not the bright green drink you might expect this time of year. We'll tasty a classic recipe, a modern riff of a whiskey smash, and an original of mine. All call for Irish whiskey - so grab your favorite bottle and give these a try! Have fun and be safe this St. Paddy's Day - Sláinte! ☘️

I've just been told Tipperary is a county - not a town. But the internet says it is also a town. SOMEONE FROM IRELAND PLEASE HELP
Here's the link to that cool hoodie: exlsv.com/collections/anders-erickson
Tipperary is a county, but it is also the name of the main town in the county.
Same for every county, dublin is a county but also has Dublin city.
Tipperary is one of the 32 counties of Ireland, but one of the towns in this county is Tipperary Town. Greetings from Ireland, Anders! Have a great St Paddy’s day ☘️
@@liamblood5239 this is what I needed to know - thanks
@@jackheneghan1445 cheers Jack. Thanks for clarifying
I bought this hoodie a month ago. It's my favorite hoodie now. Really well made for the price. Fits nice. Looks good.
Anders videos are the #2 thing I look forward to on a Friday, #1 being actually having the drinks.
Came here to say something similar. Ahmunna boost you... it's only one vote, but hey...
👊🏻 💯
I love that your videos have no fluff. They are short and to the point while still letting your personality shine through without appearing self-indulgent. You are such a skilled creator.
“The Lucky Stone - It might not make you lucky, but it makes you feel lucky.” I was 99% sure you were going to go for “but it makes you feel stoned.”
You have been our guide for cocktails and the ingredients for a couple of years. Thank you.
Would you ever consider reviewing Costco booze?
Yay, great to see the Lucky Stone back. It's been one of my favorites since I saw your original video. Great job, Anders!
Thanks, Dusty! Enjoy the weekend - Cheers 🥃
Was fully prepared for “It may not make you lucky, but it might make you get lucky” 😂
I saw a Reddit post describing Anders as the "Bob Ross" of cocktail RUclipsrs. Spot on.
Always great video, thanks anders!
For the lucky stone, I never would have thought to mix any of those ingredients with each other. I love cocktails like that!
A new Anders video? Life is good.
TOO THE BAR!➡️🥃🍀
Oooh, I will have to make on of these next weekend!
The lucky stone cocktail is one of my absolute favorites! You knocked it out of the park with that one! Cheers
RIGHT ON TIME. I needed something for St. Paddys
The Lucky Stone! It may not make you lucky... but if you have enough... you may just get lucky!
My day and week are made SO much better by another Anders drink video. Yayyyy!!!
Bleedin' Begob! I was hoping for a Pot O'Gold! As always, thanks to both you, Anders, and your lovely, Az!
Great video!
You know what? I have been eyeing my bottle of Powers the past few days, and here Anders comes swooping in to grace my weekend with not 1, not 2, but 3 amazing cocktails! Cheers, Anders! Can’t wait to try more of your finely-tuned originals!🍸
I love Powers, thanks to Anders!! I tried it for the first time *in* Dublin last Spring. ❤️☘️🥃
@@brianneloomis2045 Exactly, I bought it and Slane Irish Whiskey shorty after watching his Irish whiskey video! 😂
Just made the Tipperary, it was fantastic.
Anders always love your content.
Well, this was a short and sweet nugget of a vid. Thanks, man.
Love being here early, great video to start a weekend!
Happy weekend!
Those all look so good. IMO, the glass the Tipperary is in makes it all the more appealing. That glass is EVERYTHING for a fantastic cocktail.
We made you Lucky Stone! We used Redbreast 12 year, which we were thrilled to find (we can’t get Powers here). And Apricot brandy as we could not find apricot liqueur. But it was still delicious. A little red-gold and not quite as red as you show, but pretty good for close to first time home bartenders!! Thanks for a great cocktail recipe!
Fun! I remember making the Lucky Stone a couple ears ago, I had all the wrong ingredients, still worked!
Happy Friday Anders! Hope you have a great day! 🍀🍸
Thank you Amber - enjoy your weekend!
Nice presentation !!
They all look and sound delicious but your Lucky Stone and the Tipperary sound the best! I’ll have to try these out!
The 3 best US cities to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day are Boston, NYC, and Chicago. I’m going to try the Lucky Stone- Erinin Go Brach! 🍀
Our Boy Scout troop had an Irish exchange scout one summer. We had to perform a song or skit for the welcome campfire so he taught me “Tipperary” and “Molly Malone”. I may have to see how many Tipperary cocktails it takes before I start singing them again.
Nice callback to the perfect Manhattan story.
I wore my hoodie today, I love this thing!
Happy you're liking it!
Tried the Tipperary already, nice!!
I made your Tipperary Cocktail for St Patty's Day. OMG, it was so delicious! It was a big hit. You have such great taste in alcoholic beverages! Thank you.
Looks great. Thanks to a previous video I tried a Toronto for the first time and it was great!
Glad you liked it. Thanks for giving it a shot
Irish Maid was a hit, used Red Breast 12 for mine, definitely different and refreshing
Tried with Tullamore Dew, all I had today. Works too
The Hendricks Refresher my hubby makes uses elder flower,Hendricks gin, lime juice and a splash of Sauvignon blanc and seriously love that drink! Now I’m wanting to dry the cucumber 🥒 drink, looks like a winner for me.
A local restaurant makes a cucumber mojito for summer with Hendricks. So refreshing and good. Yours sounds great too!
I absolutely love the Irish Maid. I bartend at a Moose Lodge and had this cocktail as our drink special last night and it was a hit. We don’t have Powers gold label Irish whiskey so try making the drink with Jameson and with Bushmills. The Cocktail taste great with either whiskey. another bartender and I preferred the Bushmills slightly over Jameson.
Either way, this is one of my new favorite cocktails along with the bourbon renewal. I love that Cocktail as well, and serve that as a drink special often. Thank you
Hey Anders! Thank you for another amazing video. Any chance you'll do a Q&A video soon? There are a few things I'd love to ask you!
The Irish maid is very similar to one of my favorite drinks called The English Garden; which calls for gin as the main and adds apple cider. I’ll have to try this one out.
Green drinks? Midori & champagne 🥂
Great vid as usual! Also; have you tried the Dublin Minstrel? It's an Irish whiskey Last Word variation by Simon Difford, but I like it much more than the original. Doesn't even need a Luxardo cherry, because it's already rich and sweet.
Great video but the best part for me is an American using "Paddy" and not "Patty"
Nice. For Andrea I’ll be trying the lucky stone and hopefully it’ll make him famous one day!
We tried both the Tipperary and the Irish maid today for St. Patrick’s day and they were both delish! I used Jameson stout edition for both of them..
Cheers & happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Not sure I can trust your cocktails unless we get the Az "ooohhh!"
The Irish Maid was a hit and made the repeat request list...ALSO can you please offer any ideas on where to find fun stirring/swizzle sticks??? This continues to be a challenge!
Hey anders could you make a video on the rules of creating cocktails or riffs on cocktails. Thanks
I just realized my husband and I will in Chicago a few days before St Patrick's day. lol
Gonna have to check out the green river. Enjoy your stay!
An idea I came up with that was a good start but I want to play with the amounts a bit and which spirit is best, kind of a cross between an old fashioned and a Jameson & Ginger.
I basically did the Old Fashioned template with: An Irish Whiskey, Lime Bitters, Ginger Syrup, and lemon peel
Out of the 3, the Tipperary Cocktail looks interesting...and I have all the ingredients to make it! Will have a go at it later...right before my fish fry lol.
Yes! Love a Friday fish fry
Alcohol and hot oil.....sounds like a good time!!
Love the channel. Enjoyed the Irish Maid and wanted to share a variant we call “The Juliet”. Sub in London dry gin ( the Botanist) for the Irish whisky, sub in italicus for the St Germaine, and dropping the simple. Fabulous!
So, muddle 2 slices of cucumber, 2 oz of London Dry Gin, 1 oz of italicus, 3/4oz of Lemon juice. Shake and double strain into a glass with ice and cucumber ribbon. Would be interested to know what you think!
Your original sounds really good
Nice to see two of my local favourite whiskies used. I wonder if you have seen Powers Irish Rye Whiskey and if you have an opinion vs the American versions?
to me redbreast 12 is ireland distilled in a glass, can't wait to try these for myself 😀
Irish Maids are delicious. Edit: And you even used the same Irish whiskey I use.
Redbreast 12 is my go to irish whiskey for dinking neat, for mixing I'm usualy using Slane. But for Paddy's Day next week I might try the Tipperary with Redbreast :) I will start my celebration with a nice irish red ale and a cocktail afterwards! sláinte!
Sounds perfect to me
Merch Idea: Some old fashioned glasses with the Bitter Bear in black on the bottom of the glass, not the side. Also an Ice Stamp. KTHXBYE. 👍
anders, you really need to publish a book with just your original recipes!
It may not make you lucky, but it makes you feel stoned😂
In order to keep the Irish whiskey "alive" and not subdued, I strongly recommend a Teeling. All of their iterations are 92 proof, so they can hold better in cocktails.
I've tried the Small Batch and Single Grain so far, both tasty to sip and fine for mixing.
But anyway, all 3 recipes are great!
Good green drink is 1oz Midori, 1oz Green Chartreuse, 1/2 oz lime juice and 1/2 oz cream!!
Would you ever try no cherry, and 1/3rd oz once of Combier cherry liqueur instead of the apricot?
Hey Anders !!! Love the videos and fellow Chicagoan. Where do you find your green chartreuse my wife and I have been looking all over and can’t find it anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated. All the best and cheers
Great selection Anders. Tipperary is amazing, I prefer Yellow Chartreuse personally. What about a psycho killer? Have you ever tried it? Cheers
Considered the Psycho Killer, but had that it on the Halloween list - wasn't sure if it was too soon lol. I'll give the Tipperary a try with Yellow Chartreuse. Cheers David!
You've got to try out some Irish herbal gins too - I actually think they do gin here way better than they do whiskey...
Since I can't stand cucumbers (the smell, the taste). I'll pass on that one but try the other two.... I need to go get some Amontillado Sherry.... "To the Store".
@Anders do you have a Bourbon “Milk Punch” recipe?
Teeling Small batch, Single Grain and Single Malt are better than Red Breast in my book... very good to irish up a coffee.... Red breast is also nice in a coffee...
Definitely trying the lucky stone. Anders do you think it would work with a blender whiskey like monkey shoulder ?
Yay another video 🎉
If people see this have you tried Buffalo Trace and bulleit and what do you think is better for mixing
The Bulleit holds up better in a cocktail imo cause it is a bit higher proof
@@Dudeist87 I think I do prefer the spice in bulleit as well. I feel bt has a bitter oaky note that increases the bitter component of a cocktail by a smidge when bitters are used
have you found chartreuse anywhere in chicago lately? i haven't had any luck for months now.
Tried the fresh bergamots yet Anders? 😊
There was a "get lucky" joke in there somewhere.
I also have a serious question for you. What’s your thoughts about saponins as a substitute for an egg white in cocktails? I’m actually worried about strange tastes it might probably put to a classic cocktails such as my favourite whiskey sour.
Haven’t been able to find chartreuse for over a year where I live😢
Ohhh, I want to make a Tipperary cocktail. However, I already packed up my bar (moving to Bend, OR). Perhaps in a few weeks... ugh
It’ll be a nice celebratory cocktail. Congratulations on the move!
@@AndersErickson Agreed! Once hell-mode is over, and I am safely tucked in to my new home, I indeed shall celebrate proper.
(turns out there is a Tiki bar a couple miles away...well ain't that somethin')
cheers!
I have been trying to find Green Chartreuse for months and can't get it anywhere! Do you have a secret stash somewhere?
2:32 how is the larger tin called?
It may not make you lucky, but it will make you stone.
Where are you finding any chartreuse, it's been sold out everywhere I've looked for months 😢
...cries in Green Chartreuse 😢
We need a substitute (Doulin Genepy?) for that Green Chartreuse. I know there is nothing exact but it would be greatly appreciated if you (and that goes for all you RUclipsr bartenders) could suggest something that is suitable without making an entirely different cocktail. Otherwise, Happy St. Patrick's Day, Anders.
I imagine this is nonsense, but considering I can't easily find Amontillado in stores, can I subsitute it with a dry vermouth? I read online that Amontillado is rather a dry sherry.
🍹🍸🍻🍀
Ah, Sherry drinks are the best!
Agreed
Happy St. Paddy's Day!!!
Also you can't stop me from making these green! If Chicago can dye their river I can dye the shit out of my drinks!
Haha great point Chris. Maybe don't use whatever dye is used in the river tho
@@AndersErickson Pollution? 🤣
You skipped the most popular traditional St Paddy's day cocktail. 16 oz Bud Light, 1 dash blue no.1, 1 dash yellow no.6.
I’m a simple man. I see redbreast, I like the video.
I assumed that the stone was a reference to stone fruit! Happy accident?
Music volume a bit too high but good vid!
COUNTY!
The first I thought was called a Drake
✨🫧🍀
Looks like something is broken with your curiada link.
Oops - thanks for letting me know! Just updated the link
First time first!
Cheers!
Ireland pedantry, Tipperary is a country in Ireland not a town!
Tipp is a town as well though. Seems more likely it's named for the county but the town does exist
Maybe slow-down the drink-making process.
