[Pizza Tower] Titlecard motif references
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 29 мар 2023
- Pizza Tower is a goated game (did a 101% run over the time), considering it was made by a small team of devs. And the two level theme composers (Mr. Sauceman and ClascyJitto - all songs included belong to them and Tour de Pizza) did some liberty on the titlecard themes by hiding small motifs of the level theme inside! This is a compilation of such leitmotif appearances with references from the level tracks.
I am aware that this video idea was done to death already, but this one gives some comparisons on the tricky ones and lists the actual names of the songs as well. Not meaning to replace the others obv, but still.
-------
Pizza Tower is a fast paced 2D platformer inspired by the Wario Land series, with an emphasis on movement, exploration and score attack. Featuring highly stylized pixel art inspired by the cartoons from the '90s, and a highly energetic soundtrack. Buy it on Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/22...
All sprites and music here, once again, belongs to Tour de Pizza, McPig/PizzaTowerGuy and the composers (Mr. Sauceman and ClascyJitto).

It's a really neat detail that the war level doesn't play the lap 2 theme because it is literally a heavily remixed version of the lap 2 starting melody
I didn't realize that, what a detail
thousand march itself is a remix of water of Nazareth
Never noticed
@@projectkepleren no it isn't, it sounds similar but it's not a remix lol
@@PASTELXENON "...it is a heavily remixed..."
I love these title cards. The absurdity feels like an episode of a classic Cartoon Network show. Funnily enough, Peppino kinda reminds me of Courage.
They based a bit of peppino on him so yes.
More like ed edd and eddy!
More like
average 90's cartoon vibes:
Ed edd and eddy was made in the late 90s so yeah. Peppino was base off of ed edd and eddy
Both are neurotic little fellows that are absolute badasses when pushed past their breaking point.
I love thst we have all these goofy level names and then "W A R" and Thousand March hits you like a goddamn shovel to the side of the head

i like the little detail of the title card name still shaking after the title card melody is played. its small but usually videos just end the clip and gray it out for the original songs part to play
oh also this is the first video i saw that got all of them correct too
me too
I also love the detail that the title cards take up more space as the game progresses, compare John Gutter to WAR and you'll get what I mean
@@AbandonedHub2 wtf insane catch dude
@@bakedbeans999 oh hi i'm on a toilet
I find it funny how some of them are very specific parts of the song in the level, while fun farm is literally just the chords of the song.
I’m still convinced it’s referencing a song from the original Mort the Chicken game.
In Gnome Forest it’s really slow and barely sounds like the title card.
@@idunno6844
Yeah, it’s weird. They should’ve used the motif from ‘Mmm Yes Put The Tree On My Pizza’
@@T_Dude yeah, I love Wudpecker, it’s one of my favorite level themes in the entire game, but it does feel kind of unfitting

Oh, really? That’s pretty cool. I dislike Wudpecker, but it’s nice to know that it’s loved by others.

4:44 not related to the motif, but to the art. The “happy” visuals contrasting the small, ominous text. Its like that “Don’t make a sound” wants to shout at the top of its lungs but it wants to remind *them* that they’re happy.

The chords of Mort's Farm is a good catch, that one always stumped me
I feel like it would've been more noticeable if they got the chords from What's in the Kids' Menu. I feel like that song would be easier to turn into a more recognizable tune.

I like the small melody in the title card intro for War. It's a small detail and other songs have something similar, but something about the way this one sounds feels heavy and tragic, and the penultimate level.
Probably because war is all of those things.

4:22 That's also a reference to that one part in unexpectancy 3 where pizzahead is getting pummeled by peppino
That part in unexpectancy is a reference to this song. Unexpectancy part 3 has leitmotifs from many Pizza Tower songs (The Death That I Deservioli, Cold Spaghetti, Tombstone Arizona, Oregano Desert, Don't Preheat Your Oven)
the oldest title card leitmotif video got fun farm right, every other leitmotif video has not been able to show it off correctly

This is the great job!
Little detail i noticed rewatching these:
The title card and level motif of Refrigerator Refrigerador Freezerator can be heard in the final boss theme
(Idk if it’s in all phases but it’s best heard in Unexpected Phase 3)
Edit: 4:15
You can also hear a motif from Cold Spaghetti, Deservioli, Tombstone Arizona and Oregano Mirage
5:07 THIS SONG IS A BANGER!!!!!
i love playing through and listening to the music listening for the title card
The sound in the background of the “Doo”s oddly reminds me of the Wii U and 3DS (you can hear clearly at 5:04). Not sure what specifically, maybe the eShop? There’s just something about that twinkling star-like sound that reminds me of those consoles
Morts title card is referencing the whistling it’s just speed up
Yea i suspected that
This comparison just sounds weird
This video is very informative
4:34 Sounds so cool
small thing i noticed
you can spell spaghetti following the notes to the motif (if that makes sense)
which one
@@pacifistichuman82649 both
@@pacifistichuman82649 I'm pretty sure they mean the Pizzascape/Pizzascare titlecards. Either way, that's a pretty cool detail!
OH MY GOD I JUST NOTICED HOLY SH
Just like you can spell M-I-R-R-O-R to the tune of Celestes mirror temple
I love how the title cards are quite mixed with the song itself.
Imagine if bosses had titlecards
They do.. well, kind of, apparently the screen that appears when you enter the boss portal counts as a titlecard
I was struggling to find what the motifs were in Fun Farm, Gnome Forest, and Peppibot Factory, so thank you for compiling this!
EVERYBODY WANNA BE A SUPERSTAR
This video just reminded me of how absolute bops all the songs are like the simple title sequence contrast to the full song with all its parts
Now I'm interested in what the title card themes would sound like in the key of the original songs
Ummm AcKsHuAlLy the crust cove title card music refers to the guitar part. The part you mentioned while it is technically correct differs from the title card music while the guitar part fully fits.
No matter how many of these I watch, I can’t hear Fun Farm or Lario
That's because they're both sped up
Actually the War level feels like a lap 2 for Peppino
"Don't make a sound" and just "war"
I dont know why but ive always thought "WAR"'s titlecard sounded too calm for the level
2:47 I saw that flashing text m9
M9 pistol
Some spoilers ahead:
Gotta love how TCTOP's title card doesn't even have a jingle, since technically it's just pure silence before we knock out the last pillar John, because that's where Its Pizza Time would play, but instead we get a completely different variation of it. Dunno if the devs thought of my interpretation but even if it's meaningless, that's a rad as hell detail.
Wtf is a tctop
@@HyperixBR The Crumbling Tower of Pizza
Bye Bye There is one of the best tracks
To hear better the Lario tittle card put It ok .25 speed
Would you make a video on all the motifs in Unexpectancy? It's got like several, and it's such a GOATed final boss theme
I never knew that this whole time, portions of the level music were used in each title card for their respective levels
i know this completely random but i really love the gnome forest track with the title card vocals, i get if you can't but could you maybe try mixing the vocals with the song? i don't why, but the vocals with the theme just sounds nice at the part.
In Unexpectancy part 3, a part of Don't Preheat is used.
The motif of Pizzascape’s tracks is actually Powerhouse, which is most famously used in several Warner Brothers cartoons from the Golden Age of Animation, as well as Madness Combat and SpongeBob.
4:16 sounds like a part from unexpectancy phase 3
Thats literally what Unexpectancy references
unexpectancy 3 uses the motif from that song
4:16 this part of the music plays in the last phase of pizza face boss fight
I love that gnome forest is just one big meme.
Everybody wants to be a superstar
The Peppinos Sauce Mashine song slaps real hard ngl
neat
The spaghetti motif sounds awfully similar to the opening of Battle Tendency
Sounds more like Asriel's theme to me. Especially TABIMS.
2:36 Great song
I find it funny how half the jingles are just references to their actual level
The choir from these reminds of the Secret areas from Super Mario Sunshine
I WAS LITERALLY THINKING ABOUT THIS
war is my favorite i played this level over and over even got the p rank just to hear the music
So many people think that the cards make a song when put together but the cards are just based on the music in the level
fun farm you gotta speed it up to hear it
I like how most of the motifs are really noticeable, and then Fun Farm is 500 levels of gymnastics
i think that fun farms motif is the whistling
feeling like refrigerator-refrigerador-freezerator sounds like unexpectancy part 3 while facing pizza head
Fun Facts:
Thousand March (much like It’s Pizza Time!) has a special percussion system at the end that makes it sound like marching steps. (In It’s Pizza Time!, it’s spaced one second apart to sound like clock ticking.)
Pizzascare and Pizzascape originally had their themes swapped way before Pizza Tower’s first demo was released
Leaning Dream has a variant in the files called “Leaning Nightmare.” If you’ve played the SAGE 2019 Demo, as I have, you’ll find that it is the song that plays when you run out of time in Snick’s Challenge.
Fun Fact: The Pig City and Wasteyard are the only levels that dont include Peppino's human self in their titlecards.
crust cove too, it's confirmed that the person in the crust cove title card is one of peppino's ancestors
@@destdehat I didn't know that, thanks!
