One of my All Time Top 5-album is the 'Jazz at Massey Hall'-album. Has been for some 50 yrs. I'm an alternative rocker, touring and recording internationally. Playing sold out gigs at Radio City Music Hall, Roseland Ballroom, CBGB´s and other NYC-venues. Not a jazz cat. But that album turned my world upside down in my mid-teens. Well, long before Steve launched into 'Salt Peanuts' like 45 minutes into the set, I was already smiling at all the subtle 'Massey Hall'-phrases quoted. And I even smiled more realising I've a ticket for Steve's gig here in Stockholm, Sweden unbeknownst of this. A musical blind date, that's now a stroll in the park waiting for Santa. Me like it.

Tyshawn Sorey is just plain singularly awesome, every bit as great as a young Dave Weckl or Jeff Tain Watts. Mind blowing.

Yeah its really interesting hearing him play in this setting particularly since it is sort of contrary stylistically to what he usually gets up to.
