great time considering he only had 330HP compared to the Commodores 420, a full 1.3 seconds faster than the previous year in the same car. It's interesting to remember that out of all the cars legend Allan Moffat tested at Bathurst he said that sweet little Foxbody handled the best

Indeed, was arguably the best handling and had the best brakes at the time.

Replying 2 years later, but the fox platform is super light too, in some configurations you can see sub 3000 LBS. Sometimes it's not about the HP :D

isnt it strange that the Holdens had no end of standard pressed steel rocker failures above 6000RPM and had to resort to homologating a sporting evolution with Crane aluminium roller rockers yet ol Dick could rev that little small block 302 to 7000 all day at Bathurst with standard pressed steel rockers and never broke a single rocker. Todays useless trivia, when Dick took delivery of the two Mustangs from Zakspeed he was told prior to the sale that the Jack Roush (the US engine builder, NOT to be confused with Andy Rouse the Brit racer) built engines had 390HP, when he put them on his dyno they only got 270. And they both had (Illegal) Chevrolet rocker arms!

I painted this car black in New Zealand after this race
For it to race in Wellington as John Player Special sponsored car last year of tobacco sponsorship in New Zealand
I have the scrutiny sticker from that Bathurst race from that car

I used to own an 86GT Mustang. It's definitely the best sounding small block V8..Especially after I ditched the weak 80s fuel injection for a Holley 4 barrel headers and a x pipe exhaust.. Yet another one I should of kept 😭

Needed a evolution model to give it extra power it needed to make it a race winner.
