    Rob, I had a flashing glow plug and check engine light. One of the EGT sensors went bad. I had a local shop replace for me, it was the one that is really hard to get to. They couldn't get it to clear all of the codes. Using the Ross Tech dongle and software I wasn't able to. But when I did what you show in the video, the glow plug and check engine light when off and the DPF light came on. I was then able to do a forced standing regen and when it was done, all the lights were off. Thanks for posting this video!

    Thank you! This helped me from deleting the dpf at least for now lol bought my 2012 Jetta tdi wrecked at auction with the dpf light on so bought the ross tech cable and downloaded the software couple forced regens with no success but found your trick to reset the dpf back in business now again thank you!!

    Great job! Tomorrow I will buy a VCDS cable and do the same to my vehicle. if it fails, I will do the same trick as you showed it in the vid! Thanks so much for the help!

    Rob, when I clicked on long adaptation the search bar said "no documentation available" instead of allowing me to scroll to carbon mass dpf replacement. I am running VCDS version 17.8, so maybe they eliminated that choice when they upgraded. Great video and thanks for uploading it to RUclips.

    Worked a treet Thanks very much indeed... Driving regen with vcds was on and off and not working propally.. But your method worked straight away.. From 47,5% and 18,2 mass

    I tried this method my glow plug went out and my engine light out the next day but DPF light won’t go off I tried standstill dpf regen with VCDS after the glow plug light went out not sure what else to do, I drove for good 30 min at high revs I have replaced the dpf pressure sensor as well if you got any more suggestions let me know please thanks

    Did you do all this while driving or did you do the vcds thing first
    and then started driving?

    I'm not sure on that car
    It's a tdi 2.0
    It should work if it's a diesel

    Can you do this with a cheapo vcds cable from ebay

      Possibly, it’s the software that has all the functionality not the cable. You will need good software to have these options of resetting the DPF

      @@robertdaniel11 seen enough overheatet turbos, but normaly they dont understand that there is an other problem when a charger dyes. too much backpreassure from a dpf makes more blow by in the crankcase(you can see this on oil leaking on the engine),this will manipulate your oilflow to the charger too ,also there comes a overheating in the turbo,mostly when you have about 200% ash load the engine got problems.Regen is for the carbon built up, not for ash.Regen burns the carbon to ash,this stays in the dpf and you must clean it chemical or replace the dpf. If you just reset the ecu to zero it will recalibrate the preasure sensor and start calculating the filling of your dpf by fuel-usage. Chemical cleaning-resetting the dpf and then a forced regeneration will keep you happy

      @@kami009 Julian right he did reset dpf and leaved it dirty . System start calculations from zero but dpf actually dirty, that how you destroying your engine, you only need dpf reset after cleaning or when replacing new one, in his case he should run dpf regen. Or clean first than reset and run regen.

    This is a trick that can cause huge $$$ problems.
    If the DPF is full, if the oil ash is at the limit, no tricks should be applied.
    Backpressure of turbine or even extreme overheat that can cause fire.
    You need to clean that dpf after you take it down or replace it.
    Or try to use a good DPF spray cleaner and go do a forced regeneration while driving.

      Over $300 Canadian. I’m sure you can buy cheaper ones.

      @@robertdaniel11 sent my car to the dealership and the bill was 3000 but everything was still under waranty. Turbo was cleaned , n75 was replaced and dpf. Also the computer waa reflashed by VW in Germany.

      This was many years ago… the light stayed off after I regenerated it. I had it for a year after.
