This interview was... goooooooooooooooooooooood.
Goooooood
the emperor is the only character to me who goes from prequels to original trilogy with his character fully intact, and most of that comes down to Ian McDiarmid's performances! He was the best part of Revenge of the Sith and indeed the whole prequel trilogy, n still get exciting chills seeing the throne room scenes in return of the jedi!
+ASobsessive I completely agree
Don't forget about his theme music. One of the best themes in the Star Wars series, in my opinion.
C3PO too.
@@justicemoody also r2d2
Ewan McGregor as well awesome as Obi Wan
His impersonation of Christopher Lee. So good.
The greatest actor from all the prequels!
u mean from every movie ever made right?
Agreed Leo his performance was the best thing in the prequels:)
I love Darth Sidious/The Emperor/Sheev Palpatine or whatever you wanna call him, he's one of my favorite villans of all media and one of my absolute favorite star wars characters.
Ian McDiarmid deserves a medal for his preformance as The Emperor.
Warwick Davis is a very engaging interviewer. I'd like to see him do more of this kind of thing.
Ian McDiarmid is one of my favorite actors from episodes VI, I, II, and III.
+acs197 Cool so he is in the 3 prequels??
+Bo Danville (BountyHunter01) He's one of the true highlights of the prequels particularly by Ep 3 Revenge of the Sith, where essentially he's the 3rd biggest role.
+Bo Danville (BountyHunter01) best villain of all that were featured in the prequels, including anakin and jar jar binks
+Bo Danville (BountyHunter01) he made Revenge of the Sith actually enjoyable.
Behemothokun He sure did my fav episode.
That laugh : ) Palpatine must have been a heavy smoker.
Best character in the series
+DeadlyArc180 Yeah Wicket was a b0ss.
+DeadlyArc180 Him and Vader
DeadlyArc180 Han Solo aswel
XD The completely matter-of-fact way he says "Before I killed you." at 2:38 XD
When he slips into that Emperor voice, my skin crawls. Even though I know he's an actor playing a part, when I hear that voice, I her evil incarnate. Ian is truly a master of his craft!
1:57 emperor laugh
Not to be proud that such a great actor was discovered only through SW, so even bigger thanks to George and appreciation to Ian! Now looking back I feel like prequel trilogy became my favorite
Man...that's a team you do NOT mess with.... Darth Sidious and The Leprechaun.
Pretty awesome interview!
Even though I'm a grown man, that dude still frightens me! A true testament to his acting ability.
Ian McDiarmid was the best actor in the Prequels, they weren't the greatest but he really took what he was given and made it work (same with Ewan McGregor but Ian was better)
Make Willow 2!
And put Mr. McDiarmid in it too
It was awesome that Ian was able to return to the last 3 installments to Reprise the role of a younger Emperor. Wouldn't Guinness Book of World Records be interested in that ability to play the same character twice 20 years later. Let's not forget Ted Neeley who played Jesus Christ in Jesus Christ Superstar for another 40 years on stage and Keir Dullea who played Dr. Dave Bowman in 2001: A Space Odyssey, filmed in 1968 and reprises his role again in the movie: 2010 filmed in 1984. Keir didn't look a day older from the part he played 16 years earlier. It was almost haunting to see that scene with Roy Scheider.
31 years...since i went and saw this movie at the cinemas....i cannot believe it. real movies were made back then.
Looks like I've spotted a sequel fanboy, LOL. Don't live in the past, buddy. Ian McDiarmid is a fantastic actor. And fuck, I'll even say Hayden is one too. "Oh, but Hayden is such a crybaby!" Yeah, well so is Luke. Give the prequels a chance! Don't live in the past, okay? Don't be /that/ person who only watches the sequels because it's makes you butthurt that they used so much CGI in the prequels.
Travis Standridge Its an opinion
İ love you
İ love you
Anony moose fuck you
One of my favorite actors in the history of cinema.
He is so good at acting, I can't wrap my mind around his skill! I just am so amazed..
Him and Kenobi are my fav characters!
Such an awesome video.
Ian Mcdiarmid is a brilliant actor. In all the clips ive seen of Ian, ive never ever read one negative comment about him or his portrayal of Palpatine. Now thats power!
That laugh, wow. I have to say, that's the first time I've seen Ian perform the laugh outside of the films. :)
the laugh just makes it awesome. Both warwick and ian rocks
Ian still looks awesome! Fantastic actor, I always felt like its a shame he is so in love with theater and doesn't like to do movies that much. He was probably the best Star Wars actor out there. One can only dream of him being in the new movies. Cheers to Ian!
The most respected actor all time
Awesome actor and really made that part real.
Ian Mcdiarmd is a fantastic actor! Loved his performance in Revenge of the Sith. That scene when speaks of Darth Plagius the Wise...still gives me goosebumps and he was sick when he did that scene! Well done!
Such a great actor!
fantastic actor,,he is awesome in episode 3..
He is so awesome! I met Ian at the celebration last friday - it was fun as hell
I have uploaded a Video of that show with Ian!
Love Ian’s impression of Sir Christopher Lee 2:53
OMG when he said DARK SIDE I had a small nerdgasm!
0:47
Much respect Ian
I LOVE ALL the Star Wars films even the Prequels..Ian McDairmid especially.
my favorite actor of the prequels
I loved this...I had the very great pleasure to meet Mr. McDiarmid...and Ill never forget as he shook my hand he said very quietly and softly..."welcome to the darkside". A thrill and as I later thought...very very creepy...and I loved it!
He's amazing!
As synonymous with playing the emperor as he is one of the favourites of mine he played was Arthur in 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' - "Welcome to hell" 😂
aww, Ewok interviews the Emperor
Lol
+Louis Ta Nah, It's Emperor Ludens Nimrod Kendrick Cord Longstaff XLI, Defender of Humanity and Imperator of Known Space ("Porridge" to his friends), interviewing Sheev Palpatine, Emperor of the Galactic Empire and Dark Lord of the Sith.
What a gentleman!
Legend.
His laugh is amazing!
Ian McDiarmid and Andrew Serkis created some of the most iconic character voices, Emperor Palpatine and Golumn
that voice....
Ian McDiarmid = Legend.
He's brilliant.
Willow and The Emperor....too cool!!!
His Christopher Lee impression - spot on! LOL
Awesome interview! In case you missed it, Warwick Davis (the inverviewer) played Wicket in Return of the Jedi; hence the discussion at 2:13 about who would win in a Wicket VS Palpatine battle. ^^
Warwick is awesome
Ian McDiarmid's still got it. Scary dude
He's so cool! Best villian of all time!
pure genius.
The force is strong when he said "the dark side","yessss..."
why do I want that laugh as ringtone....
I like his emperor laugh
"People are very fascinated with the dark side"
omg he's trying to turn Warwick into Darth Wicket !!
Ian McDiarmid is such a great actor! He was so entertaining at Celebration Europe II!
If you love Star Wars check out our 23 minute Star Wars fan film called 'Smuggler's Run' and it's now online on youtube (search for star wars smuggler's run).
Our budget was 10,000 USD, we filmed at the original locations in Tunisia as well as Turkey, the UK, Hong Kong, Germany and India. We filmed it on a Scarlet and a Sony A77, I did the editing and SFX on a MacBook Pro! I hope you enjoy what we have done.
THE BEST ACTOR in Star Wars!!!
The Emperor and The Leprechaun! Perfect!
Jizzed when he said, ''Dark Side" at 0:50 haha
0:48
He imitated Christopher Lee very well ! 👍
when i saw episode 1 i went in completely blind not knowing anything about the movie at all and as soon as ian started talking i was like OMG isnt that the emperor?!?!?
and then he totally confirmed it for me when he said "young skywalker" lol
Because that 'dwarf' is the great actor Warwick Davis!
Some faith in Star Wars restored!
The whole time I wanted him to say "once more the sith will rule the galaxy"
It was great to see him live, somersaulting backwards over Warwick Davis' chair..
It's nice to hear this guy say "Dark Side" knowing he's not planning something evil.
This. The backstory of the sith plot to take over the Republic and destroy the Jedi is so amazing and makes Sidious look even more badass.
Emperor!
I'm a huge fan of Star Wars, but I'm also a fan of Star Trek, and I say the very same thing about Gene Roddenberry.
Well said.
ALL HAIL THE EMPEROR!!!
It's Palpatine!!! I love Palpatine, my favorite Star Wars character hands down.
The only villain I can think of that Warwick played was the leprechaun
He brought other directors in because:
- he was setting up his empire, Skywalker range, ILM, Skywalker sound, THX, Lucasfilm LTD, financing the film out of his own pocket
Kirshner and Marquand had little knowledge of VFX but Kirshner has great qualities with developing storylines on screen so he directed, Lucas couldn't do everything and Direct. Lawrence Kasdan came in for the story and wrote the screenplay.
Credits on EP2:
Directed, Written and screenplay by Lucas. Screenplay also by John Hales
Warwick really is a funny guy.
But to me, that's ultimately what a director is: a visionary. And although some of the dialog sometimes falls flat and/or redundant, Lucas really came through in telling the story visually. I'm referring to the aspects of filmmaking that distinguish it from theater like shot composition and editing in addition to the obviously engaging soundtrack. The most compelling and moving scenes in the saga have little to no dialog.
I wanna appear in Episode VII!!
min 1:47 Think SIr Ian blew an air waffle on that on...
nice to see Warwick finally found a gig... haha
Anthony Daniels was in all the prequels as well ;)
I'm also taking into consideration how no other movie director directed, wrote the scripts for, and produced the prequels. For Director, Writer and Executive Producer, it was all George Lucas. In the Originals, they used Lucas, Irvin Kershner, and Richard Marquand as directors. The writer was Lawrence Kasdan.
I read plenty of reviews for the prequels. I've pretty much heard it all. It's easy to go with what everyone says instead of analyzing the film/script for one's self.
Yep - him and Artoo ^_^
that laughter...1:57
Good lord, he looks like Frank Oz with those glasses and the beard!
"Before i killed you" LOL
You haven't seen all of the clone wars series then it really makes you believe why anakin would turn
I was actually blow away when I found out that the emperor in 1,2 and 3 was the same emperor in number 6 too...
I wanted him to say 'UNLIMITED POWER'
All hail the Great Emperor!
i was aware of the other supporting roles.
TBH I could just look at Natalie Portman forever she is so beautiful.
I also remember one interview where said she did a PA with Carrie Fisher and CF introduced Natalie to people as her mother. heh heh!
My grand granpa is in there
Pek! Pek, pek, pek! PEK! PEK!
Agreed
and treepio....
And Warwick also played parts in the prequels... ;)
He was also in star wars. He was the Ewok Wicket. I know, not much to write home about.
