BREAKING NEWS: Natalie Deselle (Stepsister Minerva) just passed away. So heartbreaking. We all grew up with her performance. So feisty and sassy. What an incredible talent. RIP
This was so sad and I watched her in Tyler Perry’s Madea’s big happy family the day before her death she was an incredible actor & she was amazing in the Movie BAPS with Halle Berry!!! 😢😢😢😢
I always interpreted as their *personalities* being what makes them unattractive. Yes, they are beautiful women, but they also go to the ball specifically hoping to get engaged (in “The Prince is Giving a Ball,” they immediately think “he’ll propose to me!”), unlike Cinderella, who goes to have a nice time and genuinely bonds with the Prince as a person, not just a husband. Even the Stepsisters’ clothes reflect their ugly personalities-they pick the showiest, flashiest clothes to wear, and the outfits don’t flatter them at all. Of course they largely do whatever their mother says, so maybe there’s hope for them! :p
RIP Natalie Reid. She was hilarious in this movie. Sadly she passed away today at the age of 53 from colon cancer. July 12th 1967 to December7th 2020. Man 2020 sucks
When I originally saw this, I really appreciated how both Natalie Desselle Reid and Veanne Cox really have great musical comedy chops. They really commit physically to the complicated movement throughout the song and it feels both stylized and natural. They have such gorgeous clear voices and they enunciate every line so perfectly, everyone gets the jokes. Desselle Reid's fiendish cackle takes it all to a wonderful peak of perfection. I've always loved this song and was so happy that it ended up being so superlatively performed here. Even though I adore Alice Ghostley, Pat Carroll and other great previous stepsisters, these two might be the best of a terrific group.
I love the evil stepsisters, and someday I'm going to write their story where they are the heroes. They were just misunderstood and raised by a horrible parent. Their story is going to be great!
Yeah, we go from kids blindly supporting the heroine, Cindy... to actually understanding the sisters' frustration that the one they're interested in doesn't reciprocate. And it's especially ouch-inducing if we grew up to not fit in society's standard beauty boxes. Buuuuut, the song's still hilarious because they did it so well!
Why would a fellow want a girl like her? A frail and fluffy beauty? Why can't a fellow ever once prefer a solid girl like me?! She's a frothy little bubble with a flimsy kind of charm And with very little trouble I could break her little arm! Oh oh why would a fellow want a girl like her? So obviously unusual? Why can't a fellow ever once prefer a usual girl like me?! Her face is exquisite I suppose, but no more exquisite than a rose is. Her skin may be delicate and soft but not any softer that a doe's is. Her neck is no longer that a swan's She's only as dainty as a daisy She's only as graceful as a bird... So why is the fellow going crazy? Oh why would a fellow want a girl like her, A girl who's merely lovely? Why can't a fellow ever once prefer a girl who's merely me?! She's a frothy little bubble with a frilly sort of air and with very little trouble I could pull out all her hair!! Haha ha ha! Why would a fellow want a girl like her, a girl who's merely lovely? Why can't a fellow ever once prefer a girl who's merely me? What's the matter with the man? What's the matter with the man? What's the matter with the man?!
The actresses are amazing, they are my favorite part of the movie and they gave so much spunk and life to the once two dimensional evil step sis.. man i wish more movies are like this
R.I.P Natalie😞✨ I just realized this & BAPS came out the same year. Mama was out here working & giving me all my life in the process. Rest In Peace, queen✨
They made this movie. Would have loved to have seen them in other stuff together. After all these years I still have this song in my head from time to time.
Rest in peace to Natalie Desselle-Reid who plays one of the stepsisters and who was also in the film B.A.P.S. with Halle Berry; as well as other films. What a vibrant woman filled with an intelligent, warm and hilarious gift. She passed away of colon cancer at 53, December 7th this year. Shock. Rest in peace and love, Queen 🙏🏽😢❤️❤️🌹

Thank you for sharing your gifts to all of us Natalie Desselle!!!! I hope her children know what an impact their mom had on our childhood in the best way.
These two together as sisters were probably the best part of the movie for me lol
Agreed 💯😁

can we just appreciate how they're helping each other through the garden while spying on some lovebirds
I have always loved the staging of this song in this version of Cinderella. It gives the stepsisters more to do. It's great!
The blocking on this is great.
I love that about it. Drizella and Anastasia wouldn't have helped each other through the garden.
@@v1de0gamr23 true, they really wouldn't have Lol

First Whitney Houston, now Natalie Deselle. Oh hell no. 😭
Aww
This was so sad and I watched her in Tyler Perry’s Madea’s big happy family the day before her death she was an incredible actor & she was amazing in the Movie BAPS with Halle Berry!!! 😢😢😢😢
Just reading this, absolutely awful. 53 is far too young. Cancer must be cured. God bless her and her family
That laugh after “pull out all her hair” kills me everytime😂
It's a full-on evil-villainess cackle, lol! xD Shows she just might grow up to be somebody else's wicked stepmother.
I like how they change “her neck is as white as a swan’s” to “as long as a swan’s”
They changed the entire set of descriptions if you listen to other versions. I loved it.
the original lyric for that is actually "her neck is no wider than a swans"
Neck no longer than a swan's sounds better imo. Long necks are considered elegant.
Stxrmy_vibez *Whiter, not wider.
@@EditorOfSL It's wider.
The casting of this version was just impeccable. The chemistry they had I truly believe they are full blooded sisters.
Am I the only one that thinks they're both too beautiful to be playing the ugly step sisters. Nope just me?
Anny Anne The white girl is dorky looking lmao

in the og story, they’re called the ugly stepsisters because they’re ugly on the inside, yk, personality-wise, but very beautiful on the outside
That's what I'm saying they're both beautiful 😁
@@TheGreekPianist true, but not flat out ugly

Love Natalie's cackle after screaming "and with very little trouble, I could pull out all her hair!" at 1:30
Had she not died, Natalie could have been a perfect Ursula, whether it was on Broadway or in the upcoming Disney remake instead of Melissa McCarthy.
She's crazy!
Yes! She clearly knew what she was doing, she got the comedy aspect of it, and you can tell she was having a hell of a fun time doing it
