Why would u say the SX is ‘not as accommodating off road’?. As far as i can determine it’s off-road capabilities are exactly the same - better in fact - smaller rims to hold ‘bigger’ rubber (comes with 29” AT - I’d fit 33’s), tunable engine, etc. With a snorkel, 2” lift, canopy, bull bar etc I think the SX auto, dual cab is the best value and capable pick of the bunch
everist22 I was wondering the same. If you were buying a dual cab (with as many features as you could), do you still think the SX is the best bet if fitting springs, canopy, tyres, roof top tent, storage draws, etc? Cheers
Carl Naessens Hi Carl - personally i want all the 4x4 benefits and don’t need the top spec add-on’s like leather seats, electric seat adjustment, front parking sensors, 18” rims, 9” screen etc - because I’m going to modify it for 4x4. So the $10,000 or so difference b/w the SX and high specced model, for me, is best spent on lift, bull bar, canopy, tyres, snorkel, diff breathers, engine tune etc
I have the spec just below x-terrain, brand new been driving for a month now (at about 1k kms) and while it is a genuinely beautiful vehicle, and despite the various safety features, I have never felt more unsafe in any vehicle I have owned. More times than I can count I have had this thing slam on the brakes in an 'emergency' situation (no one was in front of me directly, it had detected a car that had turned and was already well clear) almost caused a pile-up. It has yanked the wheel out of my hands while switching lanes on the motorway when nothing was in my blind spot. And the censors seem to pick and choose when they want to go off - sometimes even when nothing is present. Also, on multiple occasions I have been in a situation where I needed to quickly nip through an intersection or into traffic, and when I put my foot down to give it gas it has had a complete dead spot, almost like it is bogging, where it completely loses power and momentum, and then it slowly drags itself back up to speed. This has almost caused me to be in 2 different accidents. Beautiful truck, but it makes me nervous.

Know you mention Nms, but keen to see comparison of how effective the Nms are in each gear shift. My understanding is that while not the same as Toyota or Ford, it reaches 300Nm faster than the other two. Great review.
Apparently the Dmax produces 300Nm from 1000rpm and maximum 450Nm between 1400-2600. From other reviews, the auto transmission swaps cogs so it stays in the meaty part of the torque spread. So, should be efficient in the sense that it makes the most out of what it has, which is what really matters.
