- Albert Einstein was a student and a professor at ETH Zurich. This year marks the 100th anniversary of his Nobel Prize in Physics. But how much ETH was there really in Einstein? And how much Einstein is there in ETH?

Denied a Job as a Research Assistant at 21.
Returned as Professor at 33.
That's some SWAG there.
Because he is Einstein.

Doing reseach in ETH Zurich is my wish
God blessed that you've born in a first world nation.
he graduated with the second worst grades of his class. In addition, many of his professors couldn't stand him because of his indipendence of judgment. So I would not identify him with ETH so much.
I think him being stupid in school is a myth and he was really good in science
@@sarthakjain1824 he was not stupid, not at all. He was simply too intelligent and indipendent to show reverence to the academic authority
Yesss 😌 it's just advertising
@Petek Demircioglu Celebi Bs the US didn't want him in the first place. And they only took him to their advantage. They never quite trusted him. He wasn't treated well.
According to my CERN professor of particle physics, " we need to wait around 200 years to have a physicist like Albert Einstein."
ye, but only cause I am a fucking biologist :P :D
Very much like Leonardo or Newton, there will be no other Einstein in 200, 2000, or 20.... .0 years. It is not enough to have Einstein' s brain, it is equally essential to have proper environment.Einstein was born in the right time and in the right place
@@SuperArkleo absolutely
Thanks to german physicists the like of einstein planck somerfield Riemann Gauss Heisenberg BETHE born,.......endless list ,that s why we don't have the same intelligence the german era is gone so their intelligence
you mean Hawking,Feynman,Satyendranath Bose,Pauli,Heisenberg,Dirac were stupid or something?? Their contribution to Fundamental physics is far more greater than Einstein...Sad they werent a celebrity like him.If the Nazis didnt exist/never bothered the Jews atleast....I doubt it whether He would have received the Nobel Prize at all...It was a more of a political stunt rather than recognition of his intellect.
Einstein mastered calculus at the age of 15
That fact can’t account for his greatness, because there are many students who can understand that at the younger age than Einstein.
@@s.h5187 yes it doesn't help with discovery he could have learn at 17 nothing change he always had the tendency to ask werid question that help him out alot
Everyone can be a genius.... everyone who is curious and studies hard.
@@fuji_films yes ur right
i mastered calculus at 9 😌
I'm still sad about a fact that his "Theory Of Relativity " didn't get Nobel Prize .
Does it have a proof?
@@sumitraturi1569 obviously, detection of Gravitational wave , image of blackhole all are the proves . Even , time dilation is a well known and experienced fact in today's world. Even , some English astronomers photographed Stars during a solar eclipse and saw exactly the same result predicted by General Relativity. There's lots of proof buddy . Even , the Nobel winner of 2020 did their work with the help of Einstein's theory.
Sadly😔 also for his general relativity and his paper on new determination of molecular dimensions was really mind boggling
@@ramizr that is sad
@@ramizr The much later discoveries supporting Relativity, were...much later (and he already received the Nobel and another Nobel cannot be awarded once he was already dead). During that time as well it was not as well accepted as it is today.
its my dream,to do phd from Zurich.
Hope you're independently wealthy, Zurich is insanely expensive.
you are absolutely right. Despite securing welcoming reponses from professors there, no one was ready to finance my research and stay there😂😂
@@munawarali733 Isn't PhD in ETH considered a job?
Zurich offers both job-based and normal scholarships for Ph.D. nominees.
Anyone else watched just to figure out what the title meant?
My best friend studies there ! Love from India🇮🇳
0:17 All of these guys are incredibly handsome. Why they could possess both of attractiveness and intelligence
attractive attributes are subjectives there is no standard for that on the other hand iq is the standard for intelligence although its kinda shady often used as only factor to test someone's success success depends more and primarily on how much time u devote on something without getting distracted by something else also their is luck as u might know this is the uncontrollable factor whatever you do nothing can change how much luck u have it'll just happen if it has to happen so don't fret on what u cant rather control what u can and rem life is unfair better get used to it than whine also their is makeup if u consider urself ugly also there is neurotech (google it ) which could reverse the iq gap bw diff people but its at ver elementary level will take quite time just wish that ur lucky enough to see that technology work in irl auf wedershen
Around six years ago i was there visiting ETH. I was Very excited to be there but I couldn’t find any mention of Einstein anywhere. Could it be because of the very limited time I had to explore ETH?
ETH: YOU shouldn't speak the word EINSTEIN. !!! How much ETH Zurich is there in Einstein?
What the title of the music?
The title is "Farewell" by Maya Belsitzman and Matan Ephrat.
Music was Good.
hmm. i studied at the univesity of zurich.. and remember i was told einstein was suspended from the ETH because of bad behaviour.. but dont find any reference to it anywhere..
Is there any kind of rivalry or competitiveness between ETH and University of Zürich?
this piece of documentary fails to portray the incredible power of imagination that einstein had been developing since he was a child. he had been working hard, just that his professors did not understand that in college. Not that he was bad at college.
At age 11 he gave a brilliant proof of the Pythagoras theorem
@@Wabbelpaddel even I could prove Pythagoras at age of 11😅
@@sarthakkale656 Then you are on the right track.
@@sarthakkale656 yeah but could you come up with a new proof you have never seen before?
@@mircopaul5259 actually yes my teacher used to prove using similarity in triangle, whole i proved it using co-ordinate system as I found it to be less messy in terms of complexity.
At first I thought that I was the first one to do it that way but then I got to know that alas! I am not the first to do it that way but still the less messy the better.
I don't get that title!
Do eth Zurich accept A levels?and do we need Some German qualification?
You can find the FAQ on studying at ETH Zurich here: ethz.ch/en/news-and-events/social-media/faq.html
They do indeed accept A-Levels. I applied this year and I’m waiting on my reply - really hope I got in!

Any one from Zurich???
And how much Von Neumann is there?
What is the consensus about claims that Einstein’s “breakthrough” didn’t entirely stem from his own insights but to a great degree, the work of mathematician Henri Poincare and others?
You'll find a consensus among the students of the _Grande Écoles,_ among second class journalists, among wanabe science writers, especially among people who know nothing, while the real scientists don't care a fig. Most of Einstein's breakthroughs, thirteen a dozen, are unprecedented.
Einstein may have had modest grades while an undergraduate, but he was hardly a "mediocre student". He was a voracious, ambitious, and creative researcher in his so-called "spare time". His results speak for themselves. Also, it says something more about his teachers, that he wasn't chosen as a research assistant, surely? Rather than claim him for your own, I would say he is an alumnus of the world.
You were there? You knew him? oh, you have no idea what you're talking about? figures.
I believe that ETH is not claiming anything here. Even if so, as one of the top universities, she has the position to do that. Who are you to speak for Einstein?
@@PoliticalJohn O dear. That's no rebuttal. The biographies I've read of him are reputable and reliable.
@@Ray-io9mb I'm not speaking for Einstein. I am speaking for myself, based upon what I've heard and read about him.
@@BlueSoulTiger i heard he aced the subjects he was passionated by (i.e. physics and other math related subjects) but as they said in the video, he even failed one his courses and didn't show up to classes he wasn't interested in....not exactly an exemplary student...

❤️
@ETHZurich did not appreciate Einstein when he was a student but now cares because of what he accomplished 😂
Nice
The gist of this video is that Einstein was a so mediocre student that it is not ETH's faute if he couldn't get a job afterwards. Consequently the professors at that time would have been excellent, otherwise how could they have deemed Einstein mediocre? But the complete historical record shows that Heinrich Weber was the mediocre one.
Juan Maldacena is the new Einstein!!!! Deep similarities: not a prodigy and DEEP insight. The two are genius, and have not much talent. (In contrast, Newton was VERY talented and ALSO a genius). The genius is the soul of the matter, not the talent.
Pretty insulting to call a mediocre student someone who failed *one* class.
que caras bons manos
Quem?
Just goes to show… you don’t need a university education to be brilliant… only a gift from God…
And a lot of independent, hard work!
I don't want to be Einstein because I want a job
