Really enjoying this channel. Have you noticed how much Bill Paxton is in these movies? He’s Hudson in Aliens, the blue braided hair punk in Terminator, and in a bunch of other movies. He starred in the great movie Twister. Sadly he passed on a couple of years back. I think he was well on his way to becoming a truly great actor like Robert Duvall.

This was an awesome reaction to the first half of the Terminator story! Steph was spot on in her comments about the "background" characters being people we were invested in here instead of cardboard cutouts just designed to die. You felt for the detectives at the police station who did all they could for Sarah. Detectives Traxler (played by Paul Winfield, also seen in the second Star Trek movie, the Wrath of Khan) and Vukovich (played by Lance Henricksen, previously seen as Bishop in Aliens) may have died, but they were trying to save the future, whether they knew it or not. And, of course, the awesome hero Kyle Reese (played by Michael Biehn, recently seen working with Bishop as Corporal Dwayne Hicks in Aliens) gave his all for the future too. And gave them a future. 🙂 And to complete the Aliens trifecta, Bill Paxton (also seen as Private "Game Over, man!" Hudson in Aliens) was the leader of the punks who decided that being naked in public was better than dying. 😀 I mentioned all this in my Aliens comment, but it has been a couple of weeks or so. 😛 Liam, loved the "Yeah, he's dead now." look and smirk given to the camera. Perfect and priceless. I was sure you'd do something like that and I still laughed out loud when you did. 😀 Great reaction and I am so looking forward to the next! 😀
@@alexshank1414 I agree. I don't say if Paxton died here because we don't see and I'm not going to guess either way, but I will admit that, considering the unending carnage in this movie, it might be safe to assume that the Terminator pretty much killed everything. Except the little yappy dog who was trying to out him as a cyborg. 😛Goodness knows why. 😀
@Reactsandgames In that case I hope you have seen the theatrical cut. Man I can’t stand seeing a first time viewer’s experience ruined by slogging through repetitive, redundant, boring scenes in the extended editions. You want them agreeing with you on its status as a tightly crafted masterpiece, not questioning your taste in movies… lol.
Imagine being John Connor, meeting your dad as an adult and being older than him, becoming friends and then sending him to the past to conceive you and die.
One of the neat details people mention about the photo was how Kyle said he was wondering what she was thinking about when it was taken. Turns out, she was thinking about him. Arnold went in for the part of Kyle Reese, and he was talking with Cameron about the Terminator's mannerisms to the point that Cameron suggested he be the Terminator. Also, early on, the role of Terminator was intended for O.J. Simpson. Just as Stallone was intended to be the Beverly Hills Cop lead, but Eddie Murphy filled that role. Perfect examples of how casting can make or break a movie. Personally, I don't see Arnold as being nearly as compelling as Kyle Reese, but he had the Terminator role down cold.
The birthing of The Terminator. She was pure and holy.... And now she's got to worry about a Terminator out there. Because this was such a masterpiece they had to make another one which is normally impossible. But he's right. They did. It's so awesome. 😊😊😊 However you needed your birthday... Your birthing.
I wonder if D**k Miller was proud of his brief scene as the gunshop owner in The Terminator. I mean, The Terminator is just as much of an essential 80s classic as Gremlins
@adamweed9788 I don't know about that. D**k got a lot more screen time as Murray and it really was a perfect character for him. BUT I hope D**k loved being in The Terminator as well
Kyle Reese was born in 2002. With 27 years old (2029), he went back to the past (1984), impregnated Sarah and died. When John Connor is 17, his father Kyle will be born... and he must ensure, without fail, to find him as adult, return him to the past, and selling an image of Sarah that will make him fall in love with her, to ensure his conception.
Another great reaction. About the eyebrows: Arnold lost them when he went out of the disco place and jump through the fire. Is not evident but when you go back at the beginning you can see them lol
Not got time to watch this tonight, but Steph, whatever your reaction is to this.... T2 will absolutely win you over, for sure. And this is needed viewing before that. I reckon you'll like both, but anyway I'll watch tomorrow, wonderful pick (as you wisely said at the start, 2nd is a 'masterpiece' but this is right up there too!)
Yep this was great to watch! Your faces to the camera at times Liam lol, Steph has most of this pretty much figured out by mid way through! I think Cameron's wish from the start to have either strong female leads or supporing leads in films, or to have a deep love theme mixed into the heavy sci-fi have served him well to help his earlier work still hit the spot all these decades later! Thanks so much guys!
Welcome to the terminator franchise. The great thing about this is that because it is a time travel show, everything is Canon. Movies, novels, comics, Tv Series, games.... Good bad or indifferent all of it WORKS. So what if the timeline looks like a hairball coughed up by the cheshire cat, That is all part of the charm. Do yourself a favor and be sure to watch the 2.5hr extended director's cut of T2... Which was actually the version originally that Premiered on opening week. (Before being cut down for general release.) "Listen and understand the Ewok is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be a reasoned with It does not feel pity, remorse or fear... and it absolutely Will Not Stop, EVER, until you are dead!" ( Quote Attributed to Trooper TN-427, survivor of the Endor massacre, 6ABY ) 🫡
Never thought I'd be watching a reaction channel hosted by Til Schweiger (Tomb Raider -Cradle of Life, Inglorious Basterds) and Rebecca Ferguson (Dr. Sleep, Dune, etc.) You guys are great, big fan!
Bill Paxton, who loses his heart in this one, is also killed by a Predator and an Alien in those sequels and Lance Henricksen, the anecdotal cop, was also killed by a Predator in AVP and was ripped in half by an Alien in Aliens although being a robot in that film he couldnt die. 🤔
Bill Paxton’s character didn’t lose his heart. That was Brian Thompson. Paxton was thrown against the gate, which is debatable if that actually killed him.
Many people think Arnie ripped his heart out, but all you see is a clenched fist with blood on it. He is not holding a heart or any other organ, not that I can see. He simply punched through his chest.
The first one was amazing since it brought this concept of machines taking control, exterminating juman race but having to deal with this time travel thing to change things that will happen in the future that would make things change and give humanity that hope, with effects that would be cool for that time, BUT then comes the second one, that took a big leap forward at EVERY ASPECT: budget, script, changes on what we would expect, humor at the right places and in the right way, a souls that went way far from the first one, that’s why Terminator 2 is one of the best sci-fi movies ever!
@Reactsandgames it's incredible. But it is less horrific and has a lot of humour in it, and the CGI was basically cutting edge at the time. I saw it in London and it was like a riot to get into the cinema.
Great reaction to a great movie - thank you. (Even if since almost 3 years I don’t recommend Arnold movies anymore … but that is another story … pity, because all his movies are really great). I liked Terminator 3 too (Rise Of The Machines). After part 2 maybe you’ll decide to watch that one too. Looking forward to your next reaction. Salutations from Romania …
It's so good to see your channel growing. I'm not surprised. Both of you are very good and so honest in your reactions. BTW, be sure to pay close attention to the Terminator's first Sarah Connor killing. Notice what happens when he pulls up to house. The tire of his car nearly crushes a toy. It's a bit of foreshadowing of TERMINATOR 2. I continue to enjoy your channel.☺️😊
A fan theory says that the reason the Terminator asks for a Plasma Rifle in the gun shop is to see if they exist yet and if he has to "worry" about them.
Now that you watched this, I'm going to ask you to watch "Night of the Comet." It came out November 16th, 1984 and beat out The Terminator at the box office. It is one of the quintessential B-movies the 80's was the master of.
James Cameron considers the theatrical version his preferred director's cut. The longer version is just that...more. Some of it feels inelegantly edited in and it kills the pacing. Nothing in the longer version is needed. It explains nothing that the theatrical doesn't. Even the chip scene. Because in the theatrical it's actually different. They don't have to reset the chip in the theatrical because in that cut he states that Terminators simply learn the more contact that they have with humans. Period. Every added scene in the extended version is redundant, unnecessary and throws kinks into the elegant pacing and editing of Cameron's preferred version. Same with Aliens. Though I like the added scenes in it more than T2's...Cameron himself (and I) still consider the theatrical of Aliens his definitive version. Honestly, I'd rather have a longer version of the first Terminator with Traxler's arc scenes added back in if the editing was worked out well enough to maintain its pacing. That stuff is way more compelling than any added scenes in T2..
@@Stogie2112 there were 2 extended versions. the T1000 edition had the same original ending with some extra scenes. The other one I think was referred to as the skynet edition and had additional scenes with the T1000 searching John's room and an alternate ending. T1000 edition is my favourite as it added some interesting scenes. The alt ending was bad in the other one.
To your point about 80’s movies, here are just some if the movies that all came out in 1984 alone: Beverly Hills Cop, Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones Temple of Doom, Gremlins, Karate Kid, Footloose, A Nightmare on Elm Street… Many more awesome movies on that list as well.
"Listen, and understand! That Terminator is out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear! And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead!"😳🥃🥃🥃🥃
Hi guys, it's great you've seen this sci-fi classic, it's so good :) please react to it's incredible sequel Terminator 2 soon - it's the GOAT sequel! Production on this first movie got put back several months, and in that time director James Cameron wrote Aliens!
Wonderful reaction! A few jaw droppers in silent shock! The woman who played Ginger was Bess Motta of "The 20 Minute Workout" 80's fame! Also (not really a spoiler) in T2 when "Arnie" is introduced he should have been given the nickname "Uncle Cy", since he is a Cyborg! Just my opinion.
When it comes to AI, I'm more on board with XKCD comic #1968 (most people worry about the bit when already developed AI rebels against humans, but I worry about what _humans_ will do with AI _before_ it may or may not rebel against us), and if you look at how AI is already being used in far too many cases to cheat and scam people, _and_ it's still getting improved all the time, _and_ it's already long out of it's box since most AI is _trained_ by using the immense amount of data that the internet offers... Well, let's just say I'm not sure some AI uprising would be all _that_ much worse than what we (humans) are going to do to each other with AI as a tool...
Oh please no. Especially not for a first watch. LOTR extended edition is the only movie/series I would tolerate or even recommend the extended for a first time viewer. T2 has so many redundant scenes that ruin the tense pacing, and add nothing. Hearing the same thing explained again, or Arnie making the same joke twice or three times ruins the perfection of T2.
@@LukeLovesRose Don't know about Abyss, and maybe Alien... although I don't really like this stuff with Newt's parents. Too much explained before we see it. Probably some other good stuff though, I haven't really compared them carefully.
@mrhobs Yes but Camerons art is literally on wall. He literally spells out the name Amy on the wall of Newts little den. It's very important that we establish the connection between Newt and Ripley

Liam, loved the "Yeah, he's dead now." look and smirk given to the camera. Perfect and priceless. I was sure you'd do something like that and I still laughed out loud when you did. 😀
Great reaction and I am so looking forward to the next! 😀
Debatable if Bill Paxton’s character actually died from being thrown against the gate by the Terminator.
😂! Thank you so much for watching with us❤️ means a lot!
It was a blast to see this in the 80's . What a great, stunning movie.
I loved it! 😊
Definitely watch the extended version of the second one.
No, extended has some corny moments that ruin the pacing of the film.
I think to be safe, I’ll go with the one I have seen 😃
@Reactsandgames
In that case I hope you have seen the theatrical cut.
Could send a person crazy thinking about it!
Stallone as the Beverly Hill Cop, wow. Almost as bad as Burt Reynolds as Han Solo.
I’m sure Arnie’s physique also played a factor in being the Terminator. Huge frame to appear that the living tissue is covering a metal endoskeleton.
@alexshank1414 Didn't hurt, but James Cameron had intended him to be Kyle Reese til they started talking about it.
The birthing of The Terminator. She was pure and holy.... And now she's got to worry about a Terminator out there. Because this was such a masterpiece they had to make another one which is normally impossible. But he's right. They did. It's so awesome. 😊😊😊
However you needed your birthday... Your birthing.
I wonder if D**k Miller was proud of his brief scene as the gunshop owner in The Terminator. I mean, The Terminator is just as much of an essential 80s classic as Gremlins
Gunshop guy> Murray Futterman
@adamweed9788 I don't know about that. D**k got a lot more screen time as Murray and it really was a perfect character for him. BUT I hope D**k loved being in The Terminator as well
Terminator two is the greatest action movie of all time. The next two are also by David Cameron.
❤Waiting for 2nd!!
Hard to believe that Kyle Reese was the same actor who played Johnny Ringo in Tombstone.
Quick note first punk that Arnie kills here was the main villain in Stallone movie COBRA
Nice! Not familiar with the film but I think it’s the guy from the terrible mortal kombat 2 movie (I think😂)
Since you wondered, I was a teen when this came out and yes, I was terrified. Arnie was scary, but the metal skeleton was nightmare inducing.
That’s exactly how James Cameron got the idea for The Terminator. From a nightmare about a chrome skeleton.
Can't wait for the second one!
❤️
Some call the time loop a "bootstrap paradox." Excellent reaction. Thank you.
Nice! Thanks for watching!
Terminator 2 is the best movie in cinema history.
Watch and SEE
Terminator 2
Kyle Reese was born in 2002. With 27 years old (2029), he went back to the past (1984), impregnated Sarah and died. When John Connor is 17, his father Kyle will be born... and he must ensure, without fail, to find him as adult, return him to the past, and selling an image of Sarah that will make him fall in love with her, to ensure his conception.
great reaction! gotta react to T2 next
100%
Another great reaction. About the eyebrows: Arnold lost them when he went out of the disco place and jump through the fire. Is not evident but when you go back at the beginning you can see them lol
Thank you so much! ☺️
Can’t wait for T2!
(Before being cut down for general release.)
"Listen and understand the Ewok is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be a reasoned with It does not feel pity, remorse or fear... and it absolutely Will Not Stop, EVER, until you are dead!"
( Quote Attributed to Trooper TN-427, survivor of the Endor massacre, 6ABY )

Never thought I'd be watching a reaction channel hosted by Til Schweiger (Tomb Raider -Cradle of Life, Inglorious Basterds) and Rebecca Ferguson (Dr. Sleep, Dune, etc.) You guys are great, big fan!
😂 thanks, I’ll take the compliment! lol thanks for watching, means a lot!
@@alexshank1414 Right you are, it's been awhile.
The Terminator had his eyebrows burnt off when he jumped threw the flames of the car that Reese blew up with the shotgun shot to the gas tank.
That actually happened to my dad once with a fire while he has fixing a car engine, lol. Otherwise, he was ok.
I did mention this in the full reaction. I never noticed until this watch though. And the hair change! 😂 not sure how I missed it lol
I believe T2 had 20x the budget of the original.
Glad to see you doing more movies. I don't watch a lot of series reactions, Subscribing,
Appreciate it!
Arnold takes Cramer's clothes, most people never realize that is Michael Richards.
So glad you guys watched it,its an iconic movie. Pls watch Predator next!🤩
Obviously it has to be T2.
Hope you also do part 3 while not as good as 1 or 2 it at least finishes the story arc to the war. After that we're just attempting reboots
Yeah I only ever saw 1,2 & 3!
I was out in London when this was released , had 5 pints and decided to check it out. It's my favourite Sci Fi movie ever with T2 a very close second.
I really enjoyed this movie! I can’t wait to see the second one! ☺️
Thanks for watching!!😃
It's so good to see your channel growing. I'm not surprised. Both of you are very good and so honest in your reactions.
BTW, be sure to pay close attention to the Terminator's first Sarah Connor killing. Notice what happens when he pulls up to house. The tire of his car nearly crushes a toy. It's a bit of foreshadowing of TERMINATOR 2. I continue to enjoy your channel.☺️😊
Thank you so much for your support! We really appreciate it! ☺️
"She needs to make him paper" 😂😂 great reaction guys
🤣🤣 thank you so much for watching!
John sending his father back to impregnate his mother is known as a Bootstrap Paradox.
A fan theory says that the reason the Terminator asks for a Plasma Rifle in the gun shop is to see if they exist yet and if he has to "worry" about them.
Nice theory!
Great reaction guys!! Keep it up.
Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely comment! ☺️
T2 is very good.
Now that you watched this, I'm going to ask you to watch "Night of the Comet." It came out November 16th, 1984 and beat out The Terminator at the box office. It is one of the quintessential B-movies the 80's was the master of.
When you watch T2 make sure it's the special edition. The theatrical was great, the special edition is the complete masterpiece.
You mean the uncut version with the missing scenes right?
I prefer the theatrical version. The extended version's extra scenes did nothing for me, and I hated the ending.
@@HIGHL4NDER ... Sometimes I get lost in all the different versions....LOL
To your point about 80’s movies, here are just some if the movies that all came out in 1984 alone:
Beverly Hills Cop, Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones Temple of Doom, Gremlins, Karate Kid, Footloose, A Nightmare on Elm Street…
Many more awesome movies on that list as well.
We just watched ghostbusters a few weeks back! Hopefully it will be on the channel soon! ☺️
T2 is coming soon!
Thank you so much for watching! ☺️
Oh man, you're gonna do T2 as well. T1 is brilliant but T2 is next level ❤
I can’t wait to see it! ☺️
Delighted that you like this movie. Parts 2 & 3 are worth watching. After that.....not really.
Love 2 and I liked 3!
My aunt: There's ants all over my bedroom!
Me: 24:51
😂
😁
Terminator 2.........Extended Special Edition go!!!!
No. That ending is awful. Even Cameron hates that ending
@mrhobs Aliens, The Abyss and LOTR
@@LukeLovesRose Don't know about Abyss, and maybe Alien... although I don't really like this stuff with Newt's parents. Too much explained before we see it. Probably some other good stuff though, I haven't really compared them carefully.
@mrhobs Yes but Camerons art is literally on wall. He literally spells out the name Amy on the wall of Newts little den. It's very important that we establish the connection between Newt and Ripley
Great film but T2 is even better!
Totally agree!
it’s took me 35 years to notice the eyebrows and that’s only because it was pointed out on another reaction channel lol
😂 me and you both!
Common misconception: Arnold didn't take his heart out. He rammed his fist into his heart. Blood from an artery is purple, that's what he did.
Yeah I don’t know why 90% of reactors think he pulled his heart out. Clearly he punched so hard his fist punctured the stomach, that’s it.
@@mrhobs
@@porkypile Exactly lol
