I was in the Theater in 1977 as a Kid when the original Star wars came out. It was not even called A New Hope or Episode 4 at the time. I have loved and lived with these movies for over 40 Years. With Disney Acquisition aside, I can say this, it truly beams my heart in a great way to see your Wife enjoy these films in the way they were meant to be. With Joy, wonder and Awe. God Bless.

I was only old enough for Jedi in cinemas. My dad took me when I was probably 7 or 8. Its one of the few good memories I have of my childhood (also when he took me to see The Dark Crystal and then to an exhibition of all the movies''s puppets in Melbourne afterwards).

As someone who has been crazy for Star Wars since the 80's, it is so fun watching the reaction of someone who not only doesn't know the twists and reveals, but is genuinely loving the material. Depending on how far you get (I say watch them all), remember there is the legends books, that even though they aren't canon anymore, they, in my opinion tell a much better continuation of the story.

That last shadow of Vader's theme as he dies hits hard. This movie has two of the most heinous changes in it - replacing Anakin's ghost's head with Hayden Christiansen's, and having Vader scream NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! as he grabs the emperor - it was so much better without that cheesiness.

Excellent reaction! Your wife doesn't say a lot verbally during the movie since she's paying attention and processing what's happening, but her face is so expressive and a lot of fun to watch. Also, she has a natural reaction and isn't using the too-overly-expressive "reaction face". It's refreshing to see someone genuinely reacting to these films and not performing for the camera. I like Vader's first "no", but despise the second "NOOOOOO!!!". The first is powerful, and the first time in the films that Vader actually stands up to and denies the Emperor's wishes. It was simple and confidently spoken. The second was like the whining of child Anakin and broke the immersion.

    • @boomieboo
      @boomieboo 29 дней назад +4

I just left a comment wishing they reacted to the true OT as well. I watch a ton of reactions to the OT and confusion is the overwhelming reaction when Hayden appears.
It was also so wrong to replace Sebastian Shaw on so many levels both in story and real life. Wrong storywise because Anakin returned and died as himself as an older man. Not as a younger Anakin. So the elder Anakin is who should have appeared as a force ghost. Not to mention that Luke likely wouldn't have even recognized him if he did appear as his younger self.
And it was wrong for George to have replaced the actor morally because it was Sebastian Shaw's last appearance on film before he passed away. What incredible disrespect.
Also agreed with the " No " dialogue by Vader before he tosses the emperor over the rails. It was so much more powerful the way it was originally without dialogue because when he was looking back and forth between his son and the emperor we had no idea who he was going to side with so the scene only increased in intensity the longer it went on.
But with this version once he says " No " the first time you instantly know what his choice is so there's far less suspense and emotional build. It's strange that George didn't understand this but a lot of fans did.
I mostly get blowback from younger know-nothings who grew up with the revisionist versions whenever I post about the unaltered OT. It's tiresome having to explain why the real OT is so important for the aforementioned reasons and more. But it's also vital to keep the true OT alive.
Thanks for being a real OT supporter too.

    1. Best guess is that Han was Jabba's "trophy" for about a year and a half before the rescue.
    2. Vader discovered Leia as Luke's sister because he could feel it through Luke.
Luke didn't know that until just before then.
    3. Luke's light saber is green because he lost his old one along with his hand so they decided to make it green because it worked better in the desert background landscape.
    4. Everybody is freaking out because Luke and Leia kissed mostly because she was trying to piss off Han. They didn't know they are related.
    5. The "I love you. I know" was written into the script to get Leia the shot to say it to Han.
    6. This was Warrick Davis's/Lead Ewok first acting gig. He was only 13.
"Willow" is his lead with Val Kilmer and worth a first time/share.
    7. Awesome camera work with the race through the forest. Nobody in their right mind would go that fast.
    8. Carrie Fisher said in her biography that the most satisfying part in her Star Wars experience was choking out Jabba.
    9. Jedi is plural. With Luke and Leia leading the way they can reestablish the Jedi back into the galaxy.
    10. Ford wanted Han to die in the last episode.
    11. IMVHO this is the best of the original 6 George Lucas Star Wars. After the first six he sold it to Disney, and everything changed. Sadly
    12. RIP James Earl Jones😇

      Some good thoughts and points.
Though point "2": Vadar read Luke's thoughts due to his worry for Leia, that is why he said, "Your thoughts betray you." and the feelings come in when he said, "Your feelings have now betrayed her too." Meaning his feelings made him think of Leia which let Vadar read it, betraying her.
Point "10": Ford wanted Han to die before that, mostly due to not wanting to play the character any more. It was the main reason for the Carbonite Freezing as it gave them the option either way if they couldn't work things out with Ford. It was also why Ford was checked out for "RotJ".
Absolutely RIP James Earl Jones... and Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Alec Guinness, David Prowse, Kenny Baker, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing,...

An example of this being where a character watches something that is about to land on them (like a boulder coming down a hill), and then the object lands on them. Instead of the character simply getting out of the way before being hit.
So in the CinemaSins for Return of the Jedi. The guy who runs the channel says that the look of surprise that Han gives Leia after Leia reveals that Luke is her Brother was Han thinking about how She kissed her brother in The Empire Strikes Back. Just a little and friendly critic to my part : it's a pity that you don't discover the originals movies to your wife. I mean the originals editing. And it is easy to find them on internet, some fans built a "despecialized" editions of the tree movies in good quality. Maybe you grow up with the specials editions (I don't know how hold you are) but if you don't have to see the originals editions (without CGI effects ans some other things) i advice to you (to you two) to see them. In return of the jedi there are two things which are, for my part, very ugly and dirty : the "No!" of Vader to make an echo with episode 3 make me angry : in the original the emotion is in the silence of Vader and you know he hesitate without see his eyes. That was great, don't need to make reference to an other chapter which didn't exist at this time. And the second is the replacement of Sebastian Shaw by Hayden Christensen of course.

As to the Leia reveal, originally the plan wasn't for Leia to be the sister. Luke's sister was supposed to be hidden on the opposite side of the galaxy and her name was to be Nellith.
That's why when they wrote all their kissing scenes in the previous 2 films no one batted an eyelash, Leia back when they wrote that wasn't the sister and a true blood princess. After this film they obviously retconned her into being an adopted Princess.
Basically George Lucas was secretly getting divorced from his wife Marcia during the filming of Return of the Jedi (it got revealed months after the films release and was the most expensive Hollywood split for decades), who was an editor herself on the films (she won an academy award for her edits on A New Hope, and really improved the original drafts with her ghost writing and edits). Plus Lucas was being sued by Hollywood for not putting credits in the beginning of the film. So Lucas basically called it quits and merged a lot of plans for the next 3 films into Return of the Jedi. Like the lost Sister, but now she was Leia; and the Emperor being in the film, who was supposed to be the villain of the next 3 films. Where Luke was training his sister and her son, and implications of Luke meeting a woman (per Lucas teasing in an interview once) and having a daughter with her (per producers for these first 3 films). Now instead we get Leia hooking up with Han to imply they might have kids and Luke would train them... and the Jedi Order returning.

One of the things I love about how they handle the music, every time during the three films when Darth Vader appears, they play the Imperial March (the Dark side theme). But the last time the y play it is when Vader dies, with a sad emphasis.
The next time Vader figure appears in the funeral pile instead of the Imperial March, they play the Force Theme.

Seeing her react to these films for the first time brought tears to my eyes.
To see Anakin restore balance to the force, as foreseen for the first time… wow
New Star Wars doesn’t come close
Rip Anakin Skywalker, the chosen one.

What ive seen in reactors watching the sequels is that they are fairly positive... IMO the negative comes from those that were expecting something different and they have voiced there dislike louder than those that are fine with them. After the prequels (and hopefully Rogue One)is that she watches them. Thanks guys❤

Even watching scenes brings me back to the genius the OT was, i had to grab a box of tissues. ROTJ is also my personal fave because of Anakin's redemption. That is after all, the overall story of Star Wars...Anakin.

The expressions on your wife’s face were priceless!! 😂😂 BTW Everyone does not hate the Sequels; if you watch that end of all the reactors that have reacted to The Force Awakens 95% of them like it. Plus most people absolutely LOVE Rogue One!!!!

I saw the original SW trilogy in the theatre when each came out. Episode IV, I watched 12 times. Never got bored.
