WOW! It's extremely rare you hear the same story from both parties involved in a spat. Slash totally owned up to it just like Paul said in his book. Good on Slash for that!
ofc, theres nothing to lie about. he is a made man. there are no losers :)
its why hes the coolest hes so real and has always been the same curly headed kid
I hear Paul say he didn't wanna make their album, that at the gig they were complaining about the mixing and he offered to help so the story is a bit different...though Slash does admit he rebuffed him than called for free guitars.
I am impressed that he admitted the Paul Stanley story. He comes off looking good and honest because of it. Unlike many other Rock Star/Hollywood “elite”
Yes - he was honest about it. A relatively rare thing. He sounds like a decent man.
Well Slash wrote about it in his book too so he wasn’t gonna lie
Geenee
He’s a man who owns up to his mistakes. Respect!
Apparently slash's hat had an itch at 0.40 but slash was kind enough to scratch it
IKR! I saw that and thought, "Man, he's been wearing that thing forever it must be attached to his head." Can anyone tell me who's cooler than Slash? I mean, he's so EZ-GOING.....
lucy girl slash has major swag.. But no one is cooler than duff 😂
++John Goodman (I will whisper this: who is duff???) I get that he's from GNR but....
lucy girl oh no.... He's the bassist, was with him in velvet revolver as well
OH...oh....I thought Slash played bass....oh gosh, I was doing waay too drugs back then....thanks!
Slash is just the coolest laid back guy, as someone said he doesn't want to talk about 20 plus years ago. They should just focus on his present pursuits, not that anyone could forget the original GN'R. He always puts his all in his music, very passionate guy when it comes to it!
I was surprised when I heard Slash give a interview for the first time back when they were a band yet. I think he's fairly intelligent and a good speaker.
You can tell he's uncomfortable talking about this. He's scratching his hat.
We all do things we regret when we're young. I'm sure he really regrets this. At least they are cool with one another.
😂
Lmao...
Slash was cool, but became an asshole hanging with axl rose..
First thing I noticed as well! 😂😂😂
He was steven's Hero....
And ofcourse Slash forgot to mention, he did an audition for KISS when they had to replace Ace....
Tony Van Reeuwijk when was this
This is true. KISS was working on Creatures of the Night when Slash came down to try out. He was only 16. Paul said he really liked the kid but he was obviously too young. 1982, Jericho.
They did him a favour turning him down
I thought the exact same.
@michael b so yeah, he was 16
Interesting. Despite the interviewer pushing questions that are obviously tiring to Slash, he remained gracious in answering them without expanding further. He was nice about it.
im so proud of slash for getting clean and staying that way all of these years..........
Slash gets my respect. Not just pertaining to Slash only. But how in the world can a musician get stoned or even drunk and still play live? Maybe it's because they sound so shitty while being wasted, the guy working the console shuts off the actual guitar & plays prerecorded stuff to cover the guitar players ass.
Heroin makes the hat itch.
Fool
Nice for the two stories from both Paul and slash to be basically the same. A rare thing.
Paul Stanley: "You shouldn't air your dirty laundry in public"
Also Paul Stanley: Puts out a book, and narrates it, airing out his dirty laundry... in public.
..not when they were upcoming stars asking for favors from one another. My opinion
They are almost hitting 70s now ...i think now is the time .
The face of pain of the guy at the end is priceless
Slash should be proud of everything he has done, with GnR and on his own. He has always handled himself very respectfully. KEEP ROCKIN' SLASH!
Respectfully? Lol. Like being on heroine over and over, being drunk and cussing while accepting an award, or never mentioning that Izzy was GN’R. I was the hugest guns fan but after 30 years and nothing but a song or two they can eat shit. They fucked their career away. To write good GNR songs you need hunger and youth and they have neither. Their mansion and million dollar lifestyle isn’t conducive to writing street wise shit. Not to mention they don’t even like each other.
Axl did call Slash a few years later and we had the Not in this Life Time Tour!!!
"it's just one of those things that I don't ever see happening." Goes to show. Never say never.
Real stand-up Slash to admit not deny he spoke derogatory of Paul an had the audacity to call him for a favor. just told it like it happened.
And now he's touring with Axl. How crazy!
Calls Stanley a "fag" behind his back and then calls the guy to get him some free guitars. What a class act.
Its rock n roll. Kiss is not.
@@WhenHariMetKari for real tho 😳
@@WhenHariMetKari this isnt rock n roll? ruclips.net/video/gw5-pGKpRHk/видео.html
1: Slash’s the chillest/coolest rockstar to hang out with.
3: Duff was always the intermediate and deserves much credit for G’nR being reunited. .
intermediary? Guns N'Roses hasn't returned to the classic lineup yet and apparently it won't
@@Javra88 yeah duff is the one that got the band back together...
@@Javra88 izzy never wanted to be in a huge international band. He was content playing clubs.
Steven has to many issues that make him unreliable plus his drumming isn't advanced enough
I'm glad we ended on such a positive note...lol So subtle and yet so biting.
Nice to hear Slash and Stanley can laugh about it now
Props to him for just being honest
I agree !
"I said something derogatory about him" lol!
Slash is a class act in every respect. He's smart, witty and way ahead of the game. Plus he has one of the best guitar techniques on the planet and is truly a 'riff master'!
1, Stanley producing GnR, that thought in just disturbing!
2. If what Stanley's says in his book is true (& it probably is) then young Slash deserved the response he got when he rang Mr Stanley.
Slash seems to confirm in this interview that he did say some shit about him. Good for him for not shying away from it. Slash seems like a good guy.
Most people scratch their head but no not slash he scratches his hat
rush-motley crue-iron maiden-wasp- poison-ted nugent-tom petty-bob jovi-ac/dc-scorpions-judas priest-john cougar-bob segar-etc etc all opened for kiss at one point.
nice point
Don't forget Styx in.77!
cheaptrick too
And Simmons helped promote Van Halen's career too.
mooch514 Rush said that KISS TREATED THEM BETTER THAN ANY BAND THEY EVER OPENED FOR. ( I hate this keyboard)
1:16 (along the lines of) "... you shouldn't air your dirty laundry in public" - lol, Paul Stanley is the world expert in airing his dirty laundry in public. Definitely a case of "do as I say, not as I do".
Slash wearing a 45 Grave Black Cross shirt. Nice! \m/
3:05 that feel when Slash gives you handshake first... What an down to earth guy... Incredible... iii|: )
Well, for somebody who was drugged out back then he remembered it exactly the way Paul wrote it.
...maybe somebody told him afterwards???
In his book Paul writes that Slash was a guitarist candidate after Ace left. I guess the point was Slash was too young for Kiss. He was 16 at that time.
Slash's hat looks like it's made of rubber. I know it's leather, but looks like rubber for some reason. It's a weird fuckin' hat, really.
that's seriously the best comment I've seen on RUclips in a long ... forever. perfect! you won the Internet today! (yes I'm being kind of sarcastic, but only as much as you are. nice one, really!)
And the thickness of the leather.
Makisupa Policeman - or liquorice?
Makisupa Policeman and it looks like it stinks lol
lets be real here it looks stupid
His honesty is a breathe of fresh air ! 👍 I wish more individuals would be as honest regarding personal issues with someone. I am glad they were able to work through the issue, and move forward.
I listen to this while taking a tough poo
Constipated? Play it backwards for relief.
Kiss is one of my favorite bands (original line up and the Kulick/Carr years) but Paul DREAMS he could play as good as Slash.
watching this in 2016
Slash is one of the most laid back cats there is..so for him to get even remotely visibly irritated you know there is an issue.
Man i cant belive the comments about Slash. Saw him with GnR in Bilbao 2 months a go and he was on top off his game! Slash is way above Stanley as a guitar player as good as Stanley is....
Plus hes tone is just legendary.
Yeah great singer too, and heaps of songs too.
And he's my hewo
Ding twang tarangylang.
Well Paul Stanley is a rhythm guitarist. He doesn’t play lead. That’s like saying Slash is better than Izzy. Well....YEAH.
Stanley isn't a practiced guitarist at all. He's very basic and hasn't evolved
Hey Slash, Paul Stanley is a fucking legend bro. Just Kno that ok?
Paul stanley and kiss suck !
Isn’t this the same interviewer that Gene and Paul made turn his Maiden T shirt inside out back in 2012
A year late but holy shit I think you might be right
Roasted at the end lmao
Slash is kewlest guitar player in the world!!!!!
It's 2019 and they all got the call lol. Never say never 😁😎
Slash seems such a nice guy
Saw the tour that would never happen. They can sure play together when they want. Did a great job giving AXL breaks for his voice.
I remember that Calendar article. As I recall they said Paul Stanley didn't understand what they were about and insinuated he was an out of touch rock star. Uncomplimentary but maybe not as harsh as Paul remembers.
I´m glad Slash was wrong :)
Die Frage nach ner Guns'n'Roses-Reunion mit ihm ist an sich echt überflüssig, aber sehr souverän, wie er damit umgeht. "I know I'll be pushing daisies before that question ever goes away" :D. Slash ist halt immer noch einfach eine verdammt coole Sau! :-)
Good on Slash for owning 👏 up and owning an awkward part of his past. Paul, for his part pulled no punches in "KISS And Tell" I think that it was a well written memoir, but I'd probably have demurred on some parts of it if I'd been the one editing/ghost writing ✍️ it!
Because he said slot of crap about Paul, and he even admits it!
I'm still not sure what Slash's face looks like to this day 😂😂😂
I think he's just a fictional character you know like Santa
I've seen him perform and he looks just like Slash!
You know how much I love you you know how much I love you
Paul tried to help GnR out but Slash and Axl were such devas they that egos ruined a great thing
he got a call
Such a cool guy
Love you SLASH
0:36 Slash: "My head itches, I shall scratch it, oh, wait, I'm wearing this stupid gimmicky hat, ok, I'll scratch the hat then"
He didn't want his wig to come off when he took the hat off.
Paul Stanley has nothing good to say about anyone...Gene, Ace, Peter, Vinnie, Mark....the list goes on. I'm a Gene Simmons fan myself, but he has his faults too. Insecure egomaniacs, but I love Kiss.
In all fairness, Paul wasn't wrong in this case. Why would you help someone shitting on you behind your back?
God I love Slash .. He's such a darling ..
He's a complete douchebag.
Never say never, Slash is back with Guns and its all gravy again.
Slash was 17ish years old when this happened, I believe. I've said some pretty regrettable stuff then and now in my 30s too.
Mothers, military people and rock stars - those crazy-ass people will tell you anything right on your face and never hold back.
Slash is cool and David Bowie liked his mother !!!
Paul was right, and Slash kinda glossed over it, but good enough.
ughh the camera zoom is a beat down - motion stabilization...
Guys, please, stop with Guns n Roses question to Slash. Everything he had to answer this kind of question, it always bring some animosity from each side fans . It never gonna happen and I am kind of glad, because whatever they had 30 years ago, they dont have anymore. Nothing good could come from a reunion. There so many good question they could ask Slash of his current work and nobody ask those. Like, there is a chance of Myles release his solo record and they make a reverse tour with Conspiratos, playing Mayfiled Four, Solo Myles, Solo Slash and Guns n Roses tracks? Could he see in a close future Conspiratos became a band and the other members envolved more in the creative process? Would his albuns would always go to straight hard rock gender, or he has plan to do something more elaborated, such it was Use Your Illusion, with songs with solos and different tempos like Estranged, Locomotive and Coma?
well True it must be annoying BUT think about it they were Huge at one time, slash has been lucky doing his guest appearances & Guitar clinics BUT No GNR reunion? so many people would like to see it happen, But hey its up to them. most bands do reform because of popular demand. and of course he mentions money, NO Money is gonna make it work the band has to want it & get along.
MetalHeart8787 I think the 3 biggest reunion tours/shows would be (assuming they would happen):
1) Zeppelin (surviving members plus Jason Bonham)
2) GnR (Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff, Adler)
3) Classic Journey lineup (Perry, Schon, Cain, Valery, Steve Smith)
I'm not sure any other reunions could pack the impact of these three hugely successful bands in their hayday.
Just my opinion :)
Yo!
***** well plant & Page have already recorded together. GNR? yeah, Journey? NO
id Rather see Jake e lee rejoin Ozzy. well Like KISS it would be huge but might not work. like the whole "Kiss story"
roneit I bet you feel silly about this comment now knowing that they reunited. But you said it would never happen.
u could have not been more wrong
love the shirt \m/\m/
Whell Guess Reunion Happend Slash Glad It Did
danka vunder slaushka!
Man imagine having to answer the same series of questions, not just from media but from fan interactions too, consistently for over 20 years about some relationship that ended negatively.
This dude has the patience of a god but you can just feel the discomfort lol.
"Slash" is an extremely talented player, and the REASON GnR made it to begin with! Another example of why all the races should mix.(as if Red Fox wasn't enough of an example!)
The man is a guitar Gawd
Don't forget about izzy. He wrote most of the great songs and his loose syncopated rhythm gave their sound a swing and groove
Nice 45 Grave shirt!
How long will it take for journalists to realize that Slash does NOT want to talk about guns and fucking roses?!
+Cassius Morris I would think they would ask more. Since Slash and Axl are speaking again.
Because GNR was one of the biggest rock 'n' roll bands of all time. So they will throw in a few questions about what he is currently up to, but let's face it that's not what people want to hear about. It's like interviewing Jimmy Page and not talking about Led Zeppelin.
+Cassius Morris He must accept that he always will be. It just is.
+stan broniszewski now look what happened lol
Cassius Morris Its a bit cringy when you see these stars less than impressed by being asked questions relate to the one thing that has given them the opportunity to be where they are today.
What slash was saying that made paul mad was that"paul Stanley is gay and his wife was a trophy wife".i have no idea if its true
Paul Stanley called a spade a spade.
I like Slash but I don't quite think that in the early days as a little-known newcomer band with a clear goal of becoming famous, they were never interested in working with a guy like Paul who was already a famous rock star at that time. That really doesn't make much sense.
G&R ONE ! good album...
Face the Music , Disc 7, Paul says it all .
It's been 35 years now and slash is still wearing that top hat . (get over it) sense 1985
Axl and Slash were both go blame for GNR's split. Yes, Axl was a control freak, he was unreasonable, defensive and disrespectful to his band mates. However, Slash is very stuck in his ways, he wants everything to be done old school, he's afraid to broaden his horizons and do something outside of traditional rock n' roll. Being drunk and high all the time probably didnt help either. So in the end, both are to blame, but im thrilled they are finally taking steps to sort their shit out.
And he really did like Chinese Democracy, so if GNR do another album (which his girlfriend just MIGHT have spilled the beans on twitter), I think it's gonna be like a more stripped down Chinese Democracy.
@@Stinkydo0d I like Chinese Democracy.
Nice for him to let us know who he worships by wearing it on his t-shirt
Bro you called him gay for the way he dressed 😭 So why do u think Paul would give u respect for the way u treated him...Like slash treat people with kindness 🙃
Love Slash so much,,, There is a reason I have him and Axl Tattooed on my arms!
HoboSyke Love them both as well ..
That's just stupid.
When he said Axl’s name I thought he said a$$hole!
I mean many think they are interchangeable
Same thing
It seems like Paul Stanley had problems with everyone
Huge egos clash mostly. 🔥
Just shows how a big enough cheque/check can change things eh? ;-)
Ya think these interviewers would do some research on past interviews artists have had to make sure they're not rehashing the same old tired questions.
They do love their God.
i wonder does slash have a closet just for his hats he must have thousands.not to mention the possibility of him being a hoarder.
His original one was stolen so he probably does have a closet with backups
And Guns did get back together.
I think slash is getting uncomfortable The way this guy is sitting down
I wouldn't hang around Paul either. He really like to Kiss and tell. He seems to talk shit about everything everyone did 20 or 30 years ago..
Sounds like he wasn’t lying. And, Slash as the one talking shit. Paul just exposed him for what he was at that time.
How ironic. Paul Stanley telling someone not to air their dirty laundry in public. He wrote a whole book of dirty laundry.
Such a nice fellah
Asking slash if he reads book is like asking a fish if it breaths
Slash is the best
Slash Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I dig his 45 Grave shirt.
