Can anyone fill me in why australia is using older pumpers now? Or am I missing something

The older pump in the video would most likely be a reserve appliance. Im not that versed with the workings of FRNSW but i know as of the last few years they have been acquiring more new fire appliances as well as my local fire service (SAMFS). But one thing to note, Australia unlike our international counterparts like major departments in the US and some services in Europe, Australian fire services dont have the budget to acquire new vehicles on an often basis like some departments in the US for instance. From what i know the fire appliance life span for the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service is around 10 to 15 years, i think it is a similar vehicle life span for Fire Rescue New South Wales, someone can probably correct me on that. i know that Fire Rescue Victoria are still using appliances that are 20+ years old and theyre showing more then their age, they're probably the only metro fire service in Australia using the oldest frontline fire appliances today.

I live in New Zealand and we are still running appliances on front line stations from the early 90s. We get all our money from our insurance levies so I don't understand how we can't replace them. All our volunteer and rural stations run appliances from the 2010s and actually from 2023+ whilst the appliances doing the most work are still from the 90s. We are slowly replacing them but we don't have enough ladder trucks or stations for our growing populous. Leading to deadly and devastating fires.
