- I created this video to pay tribute to Captain Phil Harris of the Cornelia Marie fishing vessel. Phil began fishing with his father at age eight and after high school began crab fishing. He initially worked on a crab boat unpaid until he proved his worth. By the time he was 21 he was one of the youngest captains of a crab fishing boat on the Bering Sea. He had been the captain of the Cornelia Marie for more than 20 years at the time of his death.
Biography:
Phillip Charles Harris (December 19, 1956 -- February 9, 2010) was an American captain and part owner of the crab fishing vessel Cornelia Marie, which is featured on Discovery Channel's documentary reality TV series Deadliest Catch. He suffered a massive stroke while offloading opilio crab in port at Saint Paul Island, Alaska, on January 29, 2010. Despite improvements in his health, Phil died on February 9, 2010, while in the hospital. He was 53 years old. R.I.P Capt. Phil

I cried when he died. Knew him in Homer Alaska. He loved it there. Nice guy.

I think Jake had alot to do with Capt. Phil dealing health taking his dad's meds that's was a pretty low blow on Jake's part hope he is getting the help he needs 🤞👍

The Bering Sea Poem
I fished a place like no other place you’ll ever find on earth.
A place where the hardwork and danger can and should reflect a man's worth.
I fished a place where the hours were long, sleep rare, if at all. A place where even the strong sometimes stumble and fall.
I fished a place where you spend countless hours, pulling countless pots. A place where the memory of her back home is thought in countless thoughts.
I fished a place where the weather can turn bad in the blink of an eye. A place where those will get hurt and some will even die. I love this place and the pride that it’s given me. You see, very few people on the face of this earth can say, “I‘ve crab fished the Bering Sea.”

this was an amazing show of tribute!!! some of these pictures are priceless. i cry everytime i see the episode of his death he was an amazing man and father to those boys.i was very excited when i seen josh back out with the cornelia marie this season.im rooting for him to succeed.

I used to find Phil's sea jokes and the funny sayings he had hilarious i loved his bond with his boys. I know his eldest son still runs the Cornelia Marie but does anybody know how Jake is doing i found Jake to be a very good person but i think he took a liking to drugs unfortunately i really hope he is doing well.
