My father who was a tugboat skipper for 60 years was bummed when Phil died because he said he was the only Captain on deadliest catch who didn't act like he was a movie star.

@@jefferymccullough2306 Not true. His oldest son Josh bought the boat, became a Captain, and has been Co-Captain for several seasons since. Josh has been one of the main storylines in the show; showing his progression personally and professionally. His youngest son Jake battled drug issues, finally went to rehab and has been getting his act together. Remember his father once did ever drug in the book, recovered, and made it through to become successful. You should watch the most recent 4-6 seasons to see how Josh has stepped up. It’s pretty good. Heard Josh was removed from the show this week, as someone reported he allegedly molested a child when he was 15 years old. As a result; the bleeding heart Liberals got their way and had him removed.
I almost forgot about this guy. Now I sit here in a youtube wormhole crying my eyes out & I’m a 37 year old 215 lb male 😭 😭 😭 many years later

Even if I'm late farewell Phil. Regardless if the show was scripted, you were still a amazing human being. Even the Bering Sea cried and bowed to you in the end. She proudly admitted defeat knowing not even she could claim such a strong soul as yours. She misses you. We all miss you.

When this originally aired it made me cry so much, Phil was just such a down to earth genuine guy, a man’s man and he’s been so greatly missed in the 12 years that’s he’s been gone.

Here I sit 9 years on, and I'm still crying the same amt as I did then..... Captain Phil was a top knotch leader, and even more than that, a father. I'm so excited to see Jake back on the C.M. with Josh surrounded by Phil's spirit that lives on in every corner of that boat!! 💕

I fished a place like no other place you’ll ever find on earth.
A place where the hardwork and danger can and should reflect a man's worth.
I fished a place where the hours were long, sleep rare, if at all. A place where even the strong sometimes stumble and fall.
I fished a place where you spend countless hours, pulling countless pots. A place where the memory of her back home is thought in countless thoughts.
I fished a place where the weather can turn bad in the blink of an eye. A place where those will get hurt and some will even die. I love this place and the pride that it’s given me. You see, very few people on the face of this earth can say, “I‘ve crab fished the Bering Sea.”

The show is not the same without him and the Time Bandit. Every time I watch this brings back memories of my dad and he be gone since August 25 1998.

I agree. I remember his passing and watching this again took me right back to the first time I watched it. Wow! So damn sad. You know, these people in the early, early days of Virtual Reality Shows on TV were real, raw and rare. We welcomed them into our homes and in a sense, they became familiar and it's crazy, but they become part of your family. Now a days, reality shows are completely pathetic. Losing Phil Harris was a huge loss. Thanks for becoming like family. RIP Phil Harris.. Rest Easy

Got into watching Deadliest Catch as a kid between 4th and 5th grade with my dad, we would watch it every night. Phil’s passing was my first exposure to death, never met the guy but it felt like losing someone just as close.
He was my favorite captain God bless you and your entire family rest in peace mr. Harris you will be missed and you are so loved
