    It was a moment in watch design , That Seiko achieved without knowing they had created some of the most desirable and pleasing watches that were the real deal .

    More than nice, stunning. I would love to have one. I was gifted a Seiko Chrono from a great friend in the 1970's, one of my favorites, I don't think we knew what we had.

    Hi Spencer, just wanted to say how much I enjoy what you and Sabrina are doing for the Seiko community, I have learned so much about my modest Seiko collection from you guys. I just purchased a 6139-6002 gold face from eBay and got lucky because it is mint, mint, mint!, Easily cosmetically as nice as the silver dial one shown. Could you please answer 3 questions for me? as the numbers are confusing me and I am hoping I didn't get a franken watch.
    1. The case back clearly says "6002" please educate us all, as to why above the 5 o'clock the tiny number on the dial says "6030R"? I first thought redial, but have since noticed other Seiko's that have the same mis-match. (by the way, it is an English/Arabic day/date).
    2. My serial number is 79xxxx. I have read repeatedly that these watches were only made between 1969 and 1975, so how is it possible to have a 7 in the year position?
    3. The lume is perfect on this one, can you tell us a little bit about how these age? How can it still be jet white after 4 decades?
    Thanks, will be sending this guy in for service to you someday, but right now it operates flawlessly and I want to enjoy looking at that face!

      1. The dial codes are different than the casing codes. I never think that much about dial codes, honestly. 2. The 613x's were made well into 1978, and I've seen later examples, including one from 1980 I believe, so your watch is from Sept. '77. 3. The lume is still white because moisture never got in - no heat, no humidity, no moisture. Seiko lume doesn't patina like Swiss watches - unless water gets to it, it will stay salt-white.

      Spencer, Thank you so much for the answer, I can sleep nights now, knowing I have a good original watch (I did pay top dollar for this one). Dial codes are intriguing, I would love to see you do a segment on spotting original dials vs. non-original dials.
      Sabrina, love when you show us your favorite watches and why you like them.

      Rare model. Bracelets are extremely rare. Not much info on them, you're correct. I don't believe I've ever seen one.

      Spencer Klein mine has the original full length bracelet with it albeit not in the greatest condition I just put a battery in it and it works flawlessly do you carry the crystals for them? It’s kinda scratched up and I wanna replace it before I get rid of it and the movement looks great from what I can see no battery leakage and the watch itself is definitely been well used and loved but it’s still in better condition then the only other 1 I could find a picture of with the original bracelet

    First, love your videos. Even the stuff that is client specific are interesting bits of information. And, I'm very glad you made another video about the Silver 6139 Speed-Timer. I recently purchased a silver dial in very good condition. In fact the seller, Michael Creech, mentioned you to ask if you knew him. He seems to be a collector and have a lot of vintage Seikos including many 6139's. Perhap my example isn't quite as good as yours, but it's not bad considering the rarity and condition I got mine at.
    I'm still not 100% certain what the last four #'s after the 6139 represents? Prouduction? Regional Market? I think it's the latter? Mine is a silver resist dial and reads 6139-6001 on the case back with a production date of January 1971 if I'm interpreting the numbers on the back correctly. I think the 6001 is for Australia or at least the general Pacific Asian market?
    Anyways, mine is keeping great time still and really surprised the lume still works. I am told it's original, but hard to believe a 47 year old watch would still have active lume. If it's a repainted lume, I think it was at least done very well and not an obvious re-lume job. I keep the chronograph running as recommended. However, I have stopped and reset to zero just to be sure it does still work. I would say the second and minute hand is ever so slightly off and not perfectly centered, but close enough. Would like to get it fixed and whatever else to make the most out of it some day with you.. maybe check back next Spring 2019 is when you said. hopefully by then you will have some jobs cleared and willing to take new ones at that time.
    If you have about 4 minutes in your busy day, you can see my example in this video where I do a quick bezel realignment. ruclips.net/video/mtWwssnfL2A/видео.html
    Thanks for sharing your experience and expertise.

    Great video. I was wearing the gold case one just yesterday so there is one fool out there wearing one of those. In a previous video you had mentioned that the silver dial pogue was an "Aussie pogue" like the gold one with the black ring. Do you know if they were sold world wide or just in the south east asia region? Thanks.

    • @SpencerKleinVintageWatch
      @SpencerKleinVintageWatch  6 лет назад

      As far as I can see, from the information we have available, they seem to have only been Australia & SE Asia. And they're in this layout, always. Black ring, silver or gold dial, Stelux president bracelet with matching endlinks.

    Wow, I don't think I could have parted with this watch. I also love the random Beetle tail light. The watch made me drool and the tail light brought a smile to my face.
    Thanks for another great review!

    Hi Spencer. I haven't heard much mention of the black dial. Actually one I saw seemed to have a blue tint within the black under a bright light. Is this a rare dial color as well? Also, any suggestions on where a rotating internal bezels can be found? I saw some for sale on eBay from the Philippines but I've also heard people say to never buy from there. I can't tell if this one is black or grey either.

    • @SpencerKleinVintageWatch
      @SpencerKleinVintageWatch  6 лет назад

      I say "black" but the dials are blue. They range from a nearly black to a deep blue to a lighter blue to a greenish blue. A good bit of variation.

    Hi Spencer, does having proof, resist or no text affect on the value of the watch? I always liked the blue dial over the gold, but that silver dial is a real beauty.

    I have that exact watch and mine was made in the exact month and year as well! I now feel a bit bad about wearing mine since it's so rare. My inner rotating ring is not faded at all - do you think it's a bad idea to keep wearing the watch and risk fading it? Just how quickly do you think it would fade in daily use? I really love mine and I don't want to sell it but in case the value rises exponentially I do want to keep the inner ring in mind. By the way, is it possible to get hold of an original tachymeter bezel? Thanks for yet another interesting video - not just about the model but some interesting tidbits about the early Seiko collecting scene as well.

    • @SpencerKleinVintageWatch
      @SpencerKleinVintageWatch  6 лет назад

      One thing I forgot to mention in this video was the curious thing of the date - May 1972. Common wisdom is that the last "resist" marked 6139-600x's were in April 1972. That certainly is the case for the True Pogues. This one being May '72 made me wonder if it was made up or something, but the dial date (stamped on the underneath) is also May '72. So, that's another piece of information to have. And now you back it up with a brother! So, there we go. Very interesting.
      I'm not sure how hardcore you have to get with sun to make these fade. With any black indicator ring on one of these, I usually wear them inside or under a sleeve. I've considered trying to use an SPF coating on them, which maybe I'll do. But you shouldn't ask me since I'm a huge worrywart about this kind of thing and will be overcautious.

    What’s the model number of the gold watch you held up towards the end?

    • @SpencerKleinVintageWatch
      @SpencerKleinVintageWatch  6 лет назад +1

      That's a 6139-6015, though the final digit can change depending on where in the world the watch was sold. But typically I see the -6015s.
