I always wondered what makes different engines have distinctive sounds. I can't even figure out why a flat-4 sounds different from an I-4 (they both have two power strokes per rev, should sound the same!), but what could possibly make a BDA or BDC sound different from other four bangers? The shape of the ports? The shape of the combustion chamber? It's not he manifold or exhaust, because they sound the same even when aftermarket parts are included.
To every one here, I have 2 mk11 that I rally. U just can't hop into one of these and drive down to the shop. There is a warm up and cooling down procedure for the engine box and diff, u also have to heat the brakes on the way out to the stages, tyres are the same. So many different types for climate on the day. It's like driving on ice till u get heat into the tyres
yes but there are categories!i think that the most powered escort's like colin mcrae have 2.2 cosworth block ingine 300hp aspirated,fuel injected throtle bodys,forged pistons,2 wild cams and dry oil sump! sorry for my english!;-)

Then again, if they WEREN'T being raced, people would probably end up scrapping most of them, BC they no good as road cars any more, and no one will want to bother with storing them all forever.
