      Master Toddey maybe one day, but first I want to make a gas forge, coal is too expensive for making knives I think.

    hi Joe, I am looking at making a log splitter forging press, there are no 20 ton ones for a cheapish price, do you think 15 tons is too light?

    • @mastertoddey7269
      @mastertoddey7269 6 лет назад

      It's not to light, but if you could get a bigger one you should do that

    • @gentilknives8907
      @gentilknives8907  6 лет назад

      15 tons is fine unless you are dealing with very big pieces of steel

    thats not brut de forge man (its stock removal) but its a nice knife

  • @esnyd

    Great looking knife but that's not "brute de forge". That would be forging the knife and bevels to almost complete and only putting an edge on it. Either way, it turned out fantastic.

    • @gentilknives8907
      @gentilknives8907  6 лет назад

      Eric Snyder brute de forge translated to English means raw and rough and Not that you need to forge the knife 100% to shape

    • @esnyd
      @esnyd 6 лет назад

      That may be the literal translation, but in the US, if you say "brute de forge", it implies the knife was forged to shape and left relatively untouched with a grinder. Forging a mono steel flat billet on a press and cutting a knife out of the blank is not "brute de forge" IMO Still a beautiful piece, just sharing my opinion on the method.

    No need for all that hammering of the metal anymore in order to shape it, just pour the molten metal into a mould and you will get a perfect shape and flat surface.
