I went into a charity shop and to my amazement the first two Robin Hobb books were there. £3:00 what a bargain was so pleased with myself can’t wait to start 🎉😊
My TBR for the month is: The naming, Fate inked in blood, Shadow of Kyoshi, Yumi and the nightmare painter, Wizards guide to defensive baking, & Why we sleep. Fingers crossed I get to them all
The Teller of Small Fortunes sounds so cute! I want to read it but I don’t own it and my January TBR is already stacked 😬😂 I can’t wait to get into Mistborn this year! We’ll see if I make it all the way to era 2 though, haha. And I’ve heard great things about North Woods! Some books on my January TBR include Homegoing, Hello Beautiful, An Ember In the Ashes, Anne of Avonlea, Leviathan Wakes, The Frozen River, One Of Us Is Lying, and The Ornithologist’s Field Guide to Love 😊
TBR for this month is The Courting of Bristol Keats (just finished!), The Dragon Unleashed, Blood over Bright Haven, A Song to Drown Rivers, and whatever else might tickle my fancy along the way
You prompted me to read Poison Study back when you read it before and I loved it so much. Maybe I need a re-read too! Also, Teller of Small Fortunes is on my TBR this month, too I'm hoping it's great!
My January TBR is: Sword of the Demon Hunter vols 3-7, Boys’ Love, Cosplay, and Androgynous Idols: Queer Fan Cultures in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, Introduction to Japanese Religons (2nd Ed), New Nanzan Guide to Japanese Religions, Stars of Chaos vol 5, Ballad of Sword & Wine vol 3, and hopefully finally start the Ember in the Ashes series!
In January I hope to get to: The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer, Killer Instinct by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Starsight by Brandon Sanderson, Beg, Borrow, and Steal by Sarah Adams, and maybe 1-3 more if I have time.
My January tbr is mainly focused on a Fourth Wing/Iron Flame reread before Onyx Storm comes out. But I also just got The Echo Wife from libby so I'm hoping to read that! Northwoods is on my list but probably will be pushed to February, I have a feeling I am going to love it.
In January I have Out of the Gate by Elsie Silver (completed), Dark Age by Pierce Brown (completed), Towers of Midnight by Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson
If you like the “various perspectives through time” style, I would recommend “The Failures” by Benjamin Liar. I just finished it and the puzzle-piecing together of the non-linear narrative was really fun!
Hey Regan! I wish you an exciting reading January! When next time you talk about finished books, would you mind adding one or two sentences about the complexity of the writing? You're sort of a guide for my next books and I decided to read more and more books in english, however I am often unsure whether some books might be too much in terms of prose etc. You would help me a lot with my future decisions 😂
I'm hoping to read The Ninth Rain by Jen Williams and The Fury of the Gods by John Gwynne as well as reread All Systems Red by Martha Wells and Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune. :)
My TBR for January is The Thursday Murder Club (almost finished it), The Blade Itself (excited to try a Joe Abercrombie book!), The Firm (only book I have that fits booksandlala's Buzzword Cover Reading Challenge that I'm trying this year), and 1 to be decided.
I am also starting my Poison Study reread this year! Also, the author is writing the whole series from Valek's point of view -- the first 3 are out already!
I just finished The Wickwire Watch by Jacqueline Hagen this morning...great gaslamp fantasy! I am just about to pick up Echo Wife since it's a short read while I wait for my copies of Red Country and The Goblin Emporer to arrive to my local library. After these I will be reading Rise of the Ranger by Philip C. Quaintrell. I'm thinking it's going to be an excellent month of reading!!!
Happy New Year, Regan! 🥳🎉🍾🥂 My TBR for January is Beyond Redemption by Michael R. Fletcher, the first couple of books of The Iliad (my book club is doing the Iliad in a year, so 2 books a month.), Mort by Terry Pratchett and I'm not sure what next. I'll figure it out as I go. Enjoy A Little Hatred, it is AMAZING!!! 🥰
I am really looking forward to rereading the Gahallger Girls series by Ally Carter! I read them all when I was younger and I just read her adult books. So I’m circling back!
If you like found family and mysteries in a fantasy setting, try The Wickwire Watch and the Riverfall Chronicles in general. It's so good. The main lead is an Artful Dodger like character in a fantasy world where he's completely out of his depth. It's one of the best things I read last year. It's super character driven and bingeable.
My TBR is Thirteen Storeys by Jonathan Sims, War by Laura Thalassa, Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson, Animoprhs #7 The Stranger by K.A. Applegate, Naruto 10-20, and D. Gray-man 9-11 ^_^ I remember thinking Poison Study was "okay". ^_^' I also need to start the second Mistborn books XD Will you try to get to any of Robin Hobbs other books this year? Soldier Son and Reindeer People?
My TBR for January is The Great Hunt, the second book in the Wheel Of Time series. I also want to do a tandem read with Cytonic and Redawn and Evershore
If you like a story through different povs and years, then you might like The archive of alternate endings by Lindsey Drager. She uses folktales(Hansel and Gretel) and also Halley's commet as a thread. Have you watched the last episode of When the phone rings? It was suuuuper extra at times but in a silly fun/giggling way. I liked it :)
I cut my hair short five years ago and I have never grown it back out, it’s so fun and easy to style and my hair is easier to keep healthy looking and feeling. And I’ve found it’s a better length for my heart shaped face too!
I’m early again!!! My January TBR: Assassin’s Apprentice, Clarice Lispector’s Short Stories, Sonnets to Orpheus and The Duino Elegies by Rilke, and the Invention of Morel by Adolfo Boiy Casares. I’ll also be starting The Magic Mountin by Thomas Mann for book club!
How funny, I re-read poison study and magic study a few days ago for some fun after xmas! Sad to say I was disappointed this time. Curious how you’ll find the reread!
So far i read the teacher by frida McFadden unfortunately i didn't enjoy it ⭐⭐ Tbr My name is Barbra by Barbra Streisand memoir You like it darker by Stephen king Bride by ali hazlewood True colors by kristin hannah
I am slowly easing myself into fantasy books after reading mainly contemporary romance, and I really appreciate your reviews and recommendations. I’m currently reading “The Spellshop” which has been a great palate cleanser and general cozy vibe. From this video, to my TBR I added “The Teller of Small Fortunes” and “Poison Study” (the latter of which I bought for my Kobo for $1.99 since my library doesn’t have it). Looking forward to checking them out!
I highly recommend everyone to read Your Life Your Game by Keezano...It beautifully shows how connecting with God and building meaningful relationships can lead to spiritual growth and success in both your personal and professional life. This book truly changed my life, a must-read. Amen

THE TELLER OF SMALL FORTUNES was my second read/book of 2025 and I loved it! Thank you for the recommendation! 🥰

I just started "The Teller of Small Fortunes" and four chapters in, it's so fun and sweet.
I’ve been doing a combo of junk/bullet journalling to help combat my perfectionism!
TBR for this month is The Courting of Bristol Keats (just finished!), The Dragon Unleashed, Blood over Bright Haven, A Song to Drown Rivers, and whatever else might tickle my fancy along the way

Love, love, love your sweater! 💕

I love your pink cardigan. Where is it from? Also love your bob haircut. Thinking about going shorter and you've influenced me!
I cut my hair short five years ago and I have never grown it back out, it’s so fun and easy to style and my hair is easier to keep healthy looking and feeling. And I’ve found it’s a better length for my heart shaped face too!

The Killing Moon was excellent. Not The Fifth Season excellent but I'm not sure Jemisin can write badly if she tried, lol.
Where do you like to order your UK covers? I got era 1 of mist born as a boxed set and need them to match 😂
Since you are on the hunt for romantasy i would recommend The Winner's Curse. It's ya political fantasy with a sweet romance.
