Much obliged.
Thank You,for driving the attention over such ,'minor' issues,of utmost importance to me!
I was to England almost two decades ago, staying at a modest hotel,With my modest knowledge of the language, standing in line for my key to the room,a French group more recently arrived , ' were ' ordering 'their' keys to the reservation, without beginning their phrases with either silvous..., forgive- my French,or please, thank you!
The receptionist politely, with an enormous patience, served us all,in front of them, behind them, simply because we said please, thank you...
Thanks so much, I really appreciate all these good tips ! in french, you can say "il ne fallait pas" whitch means something like "you shouldn't have". I didn't know that this expression was used in english. Thanks a lot !! your channel is so helpful
Ha ha - how funny that you have it too. Thanks for sharing Esther FR!
Hello neighbors, we have that one too, because in german you would say: »Das wäre doch nicht nötig gewesen« which has pretty much the same meaning as its english and french equivalent and literally translates into »it wouldn't have been necessary«.
Thanks a lot, i really appreciate this useful lesson.
I Love your time with us !!
Thanks a lot ! You are so kind!!🤗
I very appreciate your video about say "Thank you". I was in London two days ago and I have said "Thanks" a million of time. Thank you so much!! Bye
When I lived in Wales - a long time ago 🙂, many people (mostly women) said "Ta love" which I found so sweet !
thanks for teaching us, it's very useful!
Many thanks for your videos Tom!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
So useful and very well explained! Thanks x
Tom, you're an incredible teacher! I really like the fact that you introduce to us vocabulary of different language registers. I'd like to encourage you to keep on mentioning advanced/more polite expressions on each topic. IMO, it is much easier to catch the standard or colloquial ones since they can be easily found around us. However, advanced English is oftentimes disregarded yet very useful. Thanks a lot!
Noted! Thanks for the suggestion!
Indeed
Tom, the present lesson is fantastic . Nice one!

Hi Tom! You're a star for teaching so many useful Brit English words and expessions! You know, the old English way to say thanks, "much obliged" is exactly how Thank someone un Portuguese: "muito obrigado".
Useful video, thanks)

Thanks so much Mariella - I really enjoy making the videos and pleased my enthusiasm shows through. Thanks for your kind comments.
That’s amazing, thanks a lot. For me, a Portuguese speaker, the last one is the most intriguing because our normal way to say “thanks” is “muito obrigado(a)” which translates into “much obliged”.
I really appreciate your lessons! Thanks a million!! :D :D
Very useful, thankiee ❤️
I appreciate for creating this useful video for us
Rally enjoyed the 10th way... "much obliged"... Looks like the brasilian portuguese way to say "thank you" formal or informal, we say "muito obrigada", that literally means that we feel obligated to give back a favor. O jad no idea we had a similar expression for this... really liked that!!!
amazing!Many thanks!
Thanks a million, your videos are really helpful 😊👏

Thanks teacher great topic
I started learning English under a tree, and on RUclips now it is really two world far a part! Thanks for this.
Thanks so much for this video Tom. I've been living in London for 3 years now, I'm familiarised with all the ways you pointed out of how to say thank you, but the examples you use to illustrate each one of them are really top notch. By the way, much obliged, or simply obliged, is the common way to say thank you in portuguese, obliged=obrigado. Cheers mate!
Obrigado! I’m an American living in Portugal and I’m doing the opposite of you, speaking fluent English and learning Portuguese. And I suspected that Obrigado was somehow related to “obligation” so thank you for clarifying that. Lastly, in terms of these expressions, across the pond in the USA we pretty much say all of them except for “cheers.“ That word is primarily associated with a very popular television show of about 20 years ago lol because it took place in a bar, and you would still (maybe) say cheers in giving a toast. we also don’t use “you’re a star“ to say thank you, but a more recent fashion when you want to Say an emphatic thank you, you might say “thank you sooooooooo much!“
You are really a star, Tom! Thanks a million for your amazing lessons from Saudi Arabia.
No worries, from London Katya Katerina! :-)
