  • Discover the vibrant town of Thurso, the northernmost town in mainland Scotland. Explore the historic harbor, enjoy stunning coastal walks, and experience the unique culture of the Caithness region. From the bustling town center to the peaceful countryside, Thurso offers something for everyone.
On our North Coast 500 journey, we stop in Thurso - the northern most city in mainland Scotland and lies on the northwest corner of the country. We will explore the town's historical sites, such as the Castlehill Heritage Centre and the ruins of the medieval Thurso Castle. We took time to visit the Caithness Horizons visitor centre to learn about the area's natural history and culture, and of course, we walked along the scenic North Coast 500 route.
Sample some of the local whisky at either.the Wolfburn Distillery or the North Point Distillery. We watched surfing at Thurso East Beach, a world-renowned surfing spot.

There is a haunted sense to some of these landscapes. So much of Scotland’s history has been bloody, hard fought and heroic. But like Australia, the land has its own story to tell. It is so much bigger and more powerful than the plight of humanity.

You would love the driving up there. No traffic, beautiful views and narrow roads.

Hi there Most of the buildings you mentioned in your video were built late 1700s on when the town was built to a new design. Old Thurso was down by the harbour at the river mouth.

You have to remember - the late 1700’s is old for us Americans!🤣 but thanks for clarifying.
