    Does the FAA License Remark 'English Proficient' count towards any of the ICAO ENGLISH LEVELs? According to research, it usually qualifies you for ICAO Level 4. However, this info remains unconfirmed to date! Please talk to your local aviation administration/authority, as countries handle it differently!

    A simple, direct and accurate descrition ....Read English texts (aviation preferbly) and go to RUclips to listening, a lot of Engling language.Also prepare yourself to discribe your work, your personality, why you choice to be a pilot, etc .... try to imagine all that answers already BEFORE the exame !

      I'm sure that practicing some sentences is a good way to prepare yourself for the test or 'part of' the introductory part eventually. However, as this test is about your general English competency (application & correlation etc), also expect some spontaneous questions/answers or similar things. So, rote learning (just memorizing sentences) that you can apply easily in spoken English is good and maybe helpful, but will probably not fully prepare you for the entire exam. Nevertheless, don't be afraid to take it! Give it a try, it's definitely doable! :-) Feel free to contact me for any question, even if they are English related! :-)

    Hi, well done Dave! Congrats btw). Should I take lvl 4, 5 tests step by step, before lvl 6 exam?

    • @ifrPilotdavid
      @ifrPilotdavid  6 лет назад +3

      Thx! ;-) That's indeed a good question. In comparison, the level 4&5 tests are different from level 6. Level 4 is about being able to understand all necessary and/or required reports, communication etc, whatever is necessary to communicate properly as a Pilot. Grammar does not need to be perfect at that level but should also not lead to any confusion in the meaning of a message. Not to forget that Pilot English (phraseology) is usually rather short and clear. Level 5 requires a little more skills of course, slightly approaching lvl 6. Level 6 is really about your spoken English itself rather than understanding WX-reports or anything like that. (That's why they call it NATIVE LVL I guess) The examiner usually evaluates your spoken English, range of vocabulary used, fluency etc. Of course you will be talking about aviation topics during the exam. Since I do not know your English, it is hard to give you any recommendations here. If you are not sure, you have several opportunities to take evaluations on your English before taking any of the test. Otherwise, you can just take the Level 4 test and see. Exams can possibly be repeated until passed! Also for your info... level 4,5 expire, level 6 does not! :-) Let me know if you have any questions. David

    The test results diagram is exactly what I got, I have a level 5 English even though I've wished to get six but sadly I was rated 5. If I may ask, what level did you get?

    if you fail the test, how would you have to wait for a new application for the level 6?

    • @ifrPilotdavid
      @ifrPilotdavid  6 лет назад

      +BOAT Campos That probably depends upon the testing facility, meaning I suggest that you clarify that before the test (day) or you will probably be told after test completion anyways in case of failure of ICAO level 6. HOWEVER, I guess that you will need a new appointment, if you don't accept being downgraded to a lower ICAO-Level (whatever the examiners deem as appropriate). Again, much of all this is usually dependent on the facility. If you plan to it online, I could imagine this be less circumstantial eventually.
