I have been working on painting a realistic eye for a week. This is my third attempt I will keep practising to make it more realistic.
One of the most important things is to keep your surrounding colours dark, including the white of the eye. This should not be white, but a grey with blues or even reds added. This allows you to create greater depth with the reflected light which may be pure white or any other colour.

who ever did this did a wonderful, great, outstanding job, what bothers me is there dislike's like why? do people not like someone talent, oh i forgot jealous!! keep up the great work your truly a blessing
Thanks for the positive comment! I don't mind the dislikes but I would like it if those who dislike it would give me a comment and let me know why. I am always trying to improve my work and appreciate criticism just as much as praise. Have a great day.
oh great work i was wondering if it was you didn't want to assume great job!!
wow soo hard work and beautiful eye 👍
Very cool, but just because it’s for beginners, doesn’t mean incorrect anatomy of the eye. Amazing work!
Nice one sir....just try to do it a bit slowly so that your viewers can enjoy more vividly
Ujjwal Gautam i clicked on this video because it was short. I even speed it up.
Why don’t you just slowed down the video dumbass
No, it isn't very realistic, but it definitely shows basic tips on how to start off and definitely build from this. The main mistake I spotted was drawing the lower lashes right from the edge of the eye, completely disregarding a waterline.
But yeah good blending etc.
Daisy Lishman my thoughts exactly
its really amazing, how a small touch can make such great changes
Always wanted to know how to paint a great eye, it does'nt get much better than this... awesome!!!
😍It's a beautiful eye-painting, I like it very much. Greetings from east Indonesia
This is great, thanks for sharing, I will post a video of my eye painting!
Keep trying. This was my third attempt at drawing an eye. It gets easier each time. Thanks for watching.
The touches of reflected light are very important to create depth. Thanks for watching.
That is a very good video, I actually used this video to paint a realistic eye. So thank you very much & well done
so nice and thanks for sharing, I am trying to paint such eye balls for a puppet doll for my son... I will try above steps...
IT LOOKS SO REAL!!!
This is unreal. I hope I'll be able to be this good one day.
I recently received an acrylics set and was wondering how you got the perfect skin tone? All mine look like they spent hours in the tanning bed.
Hi, I know I'm three years late, but creating a mixture of reds, yellows, and white should get you a nice skin color.
@@aformerhiro7383 atleast someone replied
Good job
Incredibly easy to follow and learn from. Never done an eye painting before as I'm a landscape painter, but gave it a go following your method and it's come out well...... Full thumbs up and keep up the good work :)
I tried to draw an eye once in my art class but it wasn't very good, yours is awesome!!!
This is brilliant! So simple, yet effective. If only I knew this when I was taking art at school, my whole life may have been different. wow, scary thought. Learning from the basics now :). Thanks, I've subscribed :)
Your awesome at painting, I wish I knew how to paint just like you! :-) Lol your perfect!
Thanks. I am still working on perfecting the eye. I will try that next time. The iris of this one still looks a bit flat.
Fantastic, thanks for sharing!
Brilliant, really really good!!
me kud bhee banati ho eyes so nice but you are amazing
I'm soooo subscribing good job!
Thank you for the lesson Ryan. I only ask that it be slowed down. I'm trying to learn what brushes are best for each area and you are moving so very fast that I cannot even see the brush. At times it looks as though you are using a pencil. I haven't used a pencil for acrylics. Is this a special pencil. The finished product is astonishing and very lifelike. I really made a mess of the eyelashes on my first try. Could you put this same video at a slower speed for those who need more help?
Sorry, I no longer have the original of this video so can't upload a more detailed version. I use a synthetic flat brush for fine lines. Any brush is fine for blocking in and whatever suits you for blending colours and shading. I used a normal pencil to sketch the basic shape of the eye. Acrylic over pencil is fine, just use it lightly if you are concerned about the pencil coming through or effecting the colour of the paint. I'm happy to answer any other questions. Thanks, Shaun.
ce frumoos!
Sper sa desenez si eu asa candva!!^•€
asta îmi doresc sieu
its perfect🙋🙌👌
*Adds green triangle around it. ILLUMINATE starts to play.*
Tina Le, why is it people are critical of spelling, especially in an art channel? Most normal people shorten their words anyway but the fact is the word " colour" is not spelt wrong because the letter "u" is dropped. This is correct spelling for many places especially America,as they spell color like that.... Now Shaun your work is great, and you have got a lot of the values right in the eye,you said you'd like advice so,remember the eye as a sphere shape, don't flatten it to eyelids and to create this shade the corners dark, especially the outer and the water line is double here.you only need one line at the eyeball as where you have the lashes it acts as the second line.dont put lower lashes right into the year duct, they just go over half way and are slightly more sparse, spread thinner, slightly longer and looks great if you actually cross a few over in an X shape to make a more irregular look.byou should be proud of this, ignore negative comments!bkeep up the good work!
Thanks Karen. I have been practising and improving my techniques. All of the points you made are great. The eye is a complex piece of anatomy and requires a lot of thought to get each detail right.
What art tools did u use in order to do the detail on the iris of the eye??
Lexus Anthony I used a very small round synthetic brush and a flat synthetic brush to paint the straight lines of the iris.
what brushes are you using looks great but need more info
so beautiful but I still don't know what colours to use to paint dark eyes. How is the white so shiny like water? I use acrylics.
Just a question. Was the white part of the eye started in light gray?
shadows maybe
Tara Shelby i think a kight grey
its very nice shaun!
i like to make the colour under the pupil slightly lighter to show the light from above as it shines through the clear jelly bit of the eye. (is that the iris)? i dunno mate, but you get what i mean ay. it seems to add another dimension to it :-)
I don't often work with acrylics, but your methods really help me just become a better artist overall. I look forward to your other videos
Thats Amazing ._.
thank you so much this video taught me a lot!
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
Thanks
Thanks so much for this vid. i'm a beginner and you made this look so easy. lol I am such a shitty sloppy painter. I hope I improve!
It looks like you used a pen to make the blue lines in the iris. what exactly did you use? also what type of brush was used for the eyelashes? the other question i have is what color are you using for the skin?
Hi I used a very small round brush for those lines. You could also use a rigger, which is similar with longer bristles. I used a small taklon flat brush for the eye lashes. Flat or angle brushes work well for painting this kind of gently curving line. For the skin I used a medium grey with a mix of raw umber and raw sienna.
Nice, your video.
What color was used for the skin surrounding the eye? +Shaun Ryan
+Corinne Beagle I can't tell you the exact mix but start with a mid grey that looks like the right tone and add small amounts of raw sienna and burnt sienna until you get the right colour. You can adjust it further with red and yellow if you find that the result is too dull, or add it later as a glaze.
Hi, I am awful at painting eyes and i painting a portrait, but the eyes where just bad, they have no live in them. Tips would be great appreciated and also what brush sizes did you use and which ones are best to use? . Also what did you use for fine black lines?
Oh my... is that even possible, I am an artist to but I can't roll like that!
make it be 1000 likes
cool
What kind of paper did you use?
حلوووووووة
How do you do a time lapse video?
We spell it "colour" in british english. "Color" is american english.
Wayyyyyy to fast to follow, where can I find a good tutorial
It's a great video and you are clearly very talented. It just does not instruct me in a way that I can learn from. The video is too fast, does not show how the strokes are done and does not give me a clear picture of the brushes used or actually how to use them .
I made it be 400 likes:)
Thanks! :D
ItsIsha x and i made it 749 likes lol
Realistic ?uh
holy shit. pardon my french.
Excellent job on the eye my only complaint is that this video is so sped up and so are the subtitles the words you're telling us what you're doing you don't even leave them long enough on the screen to read what it says it's almost pointless I have to keep freezing the video 5,000 times
Good Job! But I think you are using not as much Colors as there are in reality. I don't know how to explain it, just take it as a friendly tip :)
Not trying to be mean or anything But you Spelled "Color" wrong..
I can never do eyelashes right 🤣😂😅😀😐😕🙁😣😖😭
There is something for everyone on Stodoys website.
Meh...
the pace and the music are too stressing!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wouldn't say this is a "how to " video exactly. it doesn't describe in detail the steps. not helpful for me at least
It shows you...
Airiemarie it shows you a guy painting an eye not HOW to do it.
It SHOWS you HOW to do it. There are different ways of teaching people how to learn...
Airiemarie ok sure all I was saying was it didn't help me.
Randi Braz Airiemarie This video is quite old, I'm planning a new one. What would you like included to make it better. Techniques? Colours? Brush types? Thanks. Shaun.
Holy shit its bad
well imma go make a painting that looks like a pice of shit compared to this.
Not very realistic...
