Wrote to you two months ago..great video...... guess whatt!???... just fished my GR 11 July 2019 beautiful feeling very much inspired by you... thanks...
Came across this video as I was looking for GR11 info :) It was lovely to follow. I see you've done the PCT in 2018! I was all set to go this year but covid stopped me, along with many others. Hope next year is possible. In the meantime I'm looking at alternatives and the GR11 is looking like a possibility given that Spain is re-opening for international travel in July. I did a GR10 section hike last year (I was born in the High Pyrenees) and would love to explore the other side of my native region :) Will check out your HRP series! Cheers, Cam
Hello SlawekMalolepszy. It is legal to spend the night in a tent from 1600 meters high. And remove it at dawn. You cannot stay permanently (except accident or illness) as if it were a campsite. This is general. In National Parks ( like Ordesa-Monte Perdido N.Park and Aigüestortes N.Park) you can plant your tent at night from 2200 meters high if there is not shelter nearby. I hope i have helped you. The spanish Pyrenees are really wonderful. Greetings from Barcelona !!!!
@@ramongarcia1771 I was impressed by Ordesa trails at 2014 and fantastic clear nature, hard to believe 800000 visitors per year and absolutely no rubbish
Any tips or ideas on how to book and find accommodation? I'm an English speaker and info and booking seems hard. I'd hate to start and have to quit 4 days in because I had no place to stay
Nick, Sorry for the late response. We camped the whole way. If you want accommodation you'd need to check out the Spanish mountain hut website & book via that. This website is a good place to start, www.lasenda.net/guide-gr11-spanish-pyrenees/#huts
Sorry for the late reply. We used a Rab Neutrino 400 rated at 4 to -2 C. The evening temps were not too low. Only two nights that I'd say it got cold (maybe 5 deg C) and only when we camped at high elevations.
Hi, there were some steep hiking shown and little or no path in some places. Did you go off route? I have plan to ride my horse along this route, any views on that?
@@WayneFenton I'm with Jacques suggestion, actually I'm thinking of GR11, then return to the Atlantic via the GR10 and back on the HRP to the Med. I did the GR10 in 2000 so it would be nice to do it in reverse. I can't see this damned Coronavirus situation clearing before June1st though.
@@And-rc9yy Now that's a good, long walk! I'd agree with the situation not clearing early enough. We can't see travel opening up before summer due to infection risks. I just hope things return to some normality!
Hey Wayne, what was your start and finish point on this walk? What time of year was this? I recognize doing a lot of the same path, however we went in May time and there was still a significant amount of snow especially from Respomuso on wards (for example the shot of the thistle in front of the lake, I have the same picture with it totally frozen over covered in snow) We never had crampons or ice picks so we were a little unprepared! Wanting to go back and do some more this year or next. Great video! Subscribed.
Hi everybody - the same track in this year - photos.google.com/share/AF1QipN19UYTKM6OaTI24KRtqVzzVDaWvevqRXobdGQlccRSQwXgxT1P1I7U1Tv7QCffVw?key=Y05QY0Q5bnBhTXNLMERGTUdoZzhpNTVJcm9odDJ3 from 15th to 29rd june
Great, fun album Milos. Looks like you all had a great time. The passes and regions look very snowy that much earlier. Much like the Sierra in California for the similar time of year!
Willemijn Louws I generally used the internet but did purchase the Kindle edition of the GR11 from Cicerone press. You could visit our website TrekSnappy.com for a more detailed trip report 😁
Hi Pineboi. The GR10 is a great trail. Last summer we ended up hiking the HRP with a little bit of GR10/GR11 also. I will check it out on your channel.
This was epic what a hike! Great filming and editing..... Cheers 👍
Thanks for the video, it is very beautiful. I traveled the entire route in 43 days, in 2016.
Thanks for the comment. We are looking to do the whole route this summer (August/Sept).
Any tips on how to find and book accommodation? As an English speaker, this doesn't seem easy to do

Sorry Tyla for missing that.
Glad you enjoyed the GR11. We did the HRP last August/September. The Pyrenees are my favourite I think. Stay safe.
That’s an epic walk and a great video, thank you. Would be great to see a kit review/reflection.
A great looking hike, thanks for sharing it with us!

Hi Wayne, a very nice video. We will come back to the pyrenees this summer :-)
We just loved the Pyrenees. We will definitely return sometime in the future.
Hi Wayne, i'm now in Benasque. This year is a lot of snow here in the mountains.
Looked a great trip.
Is it legal to wild camp in Spanish Pyrenees?

What were the temperatures at night at the coldest? What kind of sleeping bag did you bring? Thanks for posting!!

Derek,
There are some very steep and tricky sections. Not suitable for a horse at all.
We didn't go off route, that is the route.
Thank you for making this video! It was lovely :) what is that thing on your backpack to attach your camera to as i may ask?
Willemijn Louws Hey thanks for watching. The attachment is a Peak Designs camera clip. It's a great addition for hiking.
Hi Wayne, thanks for your video.
Just a quick question, why the GR11 as oppose to the GR10 on the French side of the Pyrenées?
Jacques Querton The weather is better supposedly! We are aiming to go coast to coast mixing up the GR11 / GR10 / HRP this summer.
Wayne Fenton What you could do is one way on the GR10 and return via the GR11 ;-))
One way is enough I think ;)

That looks like the Osprey Levity on your back. How do you like the pack?
I used a Atmos AG65 for that trip. I did look at a Levity yesterday in an outdoor store here in Ashland, Oregon. Looks a nice pack.

Jon Chirnside Hi Jon. We went in August (11th to 23rd). Started in Canfranc and ended in Aneto village.
