- Australia up against the old foe Gt Britain. Australia had won the Ashes in 1967 on English soil and must be considered favourites.
New players to the Australian team were Eric Simms, Johnny Rhodes and Fred Jones and to the British team, Mick Shoebottom, Mick Clark, Robert Haigh and Kevin Ashcroft.
Not the usual niggle and foul play which gave the 62000 crowd some scintillating play. Спорт
Fond memories...!
Living in Sydney as a 7yr old schoolboy, and watching games like these on ABC brings back lots of memories from a long gone era. Many greats on display from both teams.
Thanks for this classic footage 😁👍
Several legends on the park there, for Australia alone - Raper, Coote, Beetson, Langlands.
I am continually amazed at how good Beetson was in the late 60s and early 70s.
Love these games. RL was at its best from the '50s through to the '80s I think.
Amazing run and try by Coote,Ron is a Immortal a travesty he isn't given tha accolade by clowns in my opinion deciding, a disgrace, Ken Irvine another wonderful Immortal, but they give to a player who says he used coke for much of his career I recall on TV
The ref had a blinder for the Kangeroos
They all had ball skills
Ray French playing. Great first try
ABC TV coverage. Commentator is Norman May
It's no Norman may 😅
It's not Norman may 😅
Red hot Aussie side , coached by the great Harry Bath.
Top try th poms 1st one,Australia went on a penalty goal shoot out sadly to b up 8-5
The Kiwi ref seemed like a no mess kind of person. Trying to establish his authority. Boy, aren't the scrums a license to go in any direction for a penalty
