REally helpful videeo, what is your advice in relation to a diagnosis of a disc protrusion and an annular tear - what can be done? at L5/S1 level - thank you - a very clear video
The L3/4 disc shows a diffuse bulge with postero-central / left paracentral protrusion resulting in bilateral foraminal narrowing and significantly indenting the thecal sac / left traversing nerve roots.
Hello Dan. Excellent question. RF neurotomy can certainly help. Depending on where in the world you live, a procedure called a biacuplasty, or an artificial disc replacement surgery may also be options. Over time, the annular tear may harden/calcify as well. Hope that helps. - Bloor Pain Team
Hi Dan. Thanks for the interest. Of course there is a chance. A decent chance too. Unfortunately, we can't discuss details of your personal care on a public forum like RUclips. If you live in Ontario, have your doctor send a referral to us and we would be happy to chat in person. www.BloorPain.com/refer-a-patient/
I’m 51 and I have a superimposed extrusion. What’s that??? After 7 weeks I able to walk again, but I’m still in sone pain. My PT says that I will probably always have discomfort.
L4-5. there is a small left foraminal disc protrusion superimposed upon a diffuse disc annular bulge with mild facet arthropathy and endplate spurring. Mild left foraminal narrowing results. The central canal and right neural foramen appear patent. That’s my MRI I have my big toe and big toe areas numb sometimes does it need surgery?
If I had a bulging disc in my 20 and hurt all this time am 49 now it's touching a nerve will I have to have surgery because nothing I do is helping and am sick of taking medication.

When treating pain caused by annular tears with ESI fails, is there any chance the pain could be helped with radio frequency neurotomy?
